Update from verizon

Sorry if this has been recently posted, but the thread got out of control and I couldn't keep up on my way home. I had the typical call with *611 who said to call my credit card company (AMEX) and that they hadn't received payment yet. I ordered through verizonwireless.com at 5:41am on the 14th and immediately received a confirmation email and a pre-auth on my card, but no change since. I called AMEX and they said they authorized the pre-auth request but have not been asked for the full payment yet. So I tried the 866 internet department number on here and was told this by the rep:

-They are working from 5am-after midnight every day trying to process payments. 16GB were the first to get authorized because there were MANY, MANY less of them than the 64GB, which overall will be the last to be authorized. They said that it should be authorized tonight because most will ship with 2-day shipping.

Other than that, they said that for the most part, payments haven't been a problem, just the sheer number of them and the fact that the most expensive one was the most ordered. THEY DO NOT PLAN ON HAVING TO PUSH BACK PHONES THAT WERE ORDERED BEFORE THE ORIGINAL CUT OFF TO BE RECEIVED ON LAUNCH DAY (CUT OFF WAS AROUND 8AM).

I am in NJ, ordered a black 64GB (unsub), have a location of D771101.
 
I ordered the phone at 3:15am est on the preorder date and my Verizon still says "We received your order and it is in process. Payment not taken yet" and it doesn't have an expected ship date or anything... I'm worried that I'm going to get screwed and not get the first batch of preorders. I am in New Jersey FWIW.

You will. Im in NJ as well and mine was shipped out of PA, most likely yours will 2. They'll overnight ur package and be here right on time.
 
oh they know the contents.... they have a zillion customers going "IM EXPECTING AN IPHONE 5 ON FRIDAY SO LOOK OUT FOR IT"
they know what it is. I worked for UPS at the time the ipad 2 came out.... and all the drivers knew what it was

Right. I said they are assuming that is what it is, but they will also deliver products that are not iPhones but shipped from Verizon. From a technical stand point they do NOT have content information so they do not have the contract with Apple as the other person was mentioning. My point is that the requested future delivery is NOT a 100% guarantee.
 
I too am switching over to Verizon, but I just ordered it with a new phone number instead of porting from my current phone which is still active.

So my question is... Will I be able to port my number over AFTER I get the phone? I don't see why not.

It's so frustrating how our zone is so far behind in tracking numbers. My card was charged full amount overnight and still the site says processing despite an email saying it shipped (but didn't include a tracking number).
 
After all these Apple Care questions, I have one more...is it worth it? $100 for extra year of protection and two full years of tech support, correct? My friend said something about how even with Apple Care, you may have to pay a $50 "service fee" of sorts whenever you have an issue. Despite all that, is it worth it?
 
I pre-ordered my iPhone 5 through the vzw website. Am i still able to get an insurance plan with best buy ? and thanks for the advice!

Yeah, if you take it to them, talk to the guys selling phones. They aren't very nice most of the time, but they're helpful. I always pre order through Verizon and then take them the day I get them... works well for me! talk to Apple about Apple Care - either best buy or apple would be your best bet... Apple Care might actually be cheaper over the lifespan of the phone, but you have to be close to an Apple Store or wait for a replacement.... I live about 50 miles to the closest apple store, but have a best buy down the street.... it's just the best option for me!

Wow really? LMAO I wasn't stating the obvious. Geesh...re read it. It was about a Fedex contract with Apple. The drivers do not have contents listed. The drivers are 99.9% sure that is what it is, but again....not listed.

I am not fricken saying the drivers dont know they are delivering iPhones....come on.
 
Apple care doesn't include getting stolen right? So isn't it better to pay the extra $20 a year and get insurance though Verizon?

Yes, you pay $50 and you get a new iPhone. I think $150 is a lot cheaper for a new iPhone if you've damaged your old one beyond use rather than paying what Verizon will charge you.

I finished my order no later than 3:10amest I received my confirmation but no shipping info yet and I'm still stuck at we received your order and it is in process. I called verizon today today because my friend got his shipping info and he ordered after me the First Lady I talked to was about as helpful as a meatball . So I had her give me the number to online sales and the lady assured me my order would arrive for the 21st that there is no order the orders are going out to floor besides delivery date and that because I'm porting my number sometimes can take longer ,I hope everything goes through soon I'm coming from AT&T and would like to have a good starting experience but I'm worried because my friend also is coming from AT&T and he got his .my hair is turning gray as we speak lol

It is still only Tuesday...they can send them out as late as Thursday and get them. Last year we were all getting them around Wednesday/Thursday so I think you will be fine.
 
Even though mine is shipped and everything, I still can't focus on school.

Got a rough draft due Thursday of an essay.
Plus some math homework, and a discussion online to do still.
 
It is still only Tuesday...they can send them out as late as Thursday and get them. Last year we were all getting them around Wednesday/Thursday so I think you will be fine.

I'm sure I am I just hate this week of anticipation it stresses me out lol, I work at a computer all day so it's hard to avoid seeing everyone else getting shipping info while I'm left hitting refresh on the status page lol

Yeah, but for one year of protection you would pay a little less than $96 for insurance and then $100 if lost or damaged. So, for approx $46 more per year you are covered if lost, stolen (including mugged), damaged etc.

Care is better if not worried about the losing or stolen part. Otherwise you might go the other route

Mines in West Chester about an hour from my house in Delaware!!! Too bad it didn't slip through,I'd probably have it today or latest tomorrow!!!

And you can bet that "Requested" is different than setting a date delivered. You can request a future delivery on any package, but it is not guaranteed. If you had thousands and thousands of products to deliver and someone told you they must be there Friday only you might be a little overwhelmed. They stager for a reason. Show me the official doc from Apple that says Verizon will be dropped or sued if a few phones make it a day or two early LMFAO. Come on guy...recent history shows this to be a fact.

If Verizon wanted to assure the 21st with 100% accuracy they would have shipped them overnight and released them on Thursday.

Ok puss boy. Show me more than a hand full of pre 21st deliveries from this thread on Wednesday and thursday

And on another note....this little increase in FedEx deliveries is NOTHING. They could easily deliver all on Friday.
