Some ****ing jackass on the phone at Verizon just told me that all iPhone 5 orders are going to be shipped on the 28th and that the 21st was the release date.
I swear to God, I'm canceling my order if it's not in my hands before the 22nd.
Mine says it's arriving tomorrow by 3pm...I know it's not but it will definitely be here Friday.
 
I used to work for a company (not Verizon) where I could overhear about 10-12 customer service phone staff at once... and if there's anything I learned from being in an office like that, it's that customer service reps often make up s*** off the top of their head if they don't know the answer so they can move onto the next call. I wouldn't trust these level 1 reps. They don't know anything you can't look up, and they might know even less since they haven't been frequenting threads like these with a frenzy of pre-order activity and information.
 
That's dumb, and not true. Hundreds of us here have tracking numbers for 9/21. Don't call customer service, call internet sales!

The only reason I called is because of an item I ordered through USPS turned out to be "undeliverable to address" and wanted to make sure that I won't have a problem like that getting my i5.
Will I?

There is enough evidence in this thread to come to the conclusion that most of them have no idea what in the hell they're talking about, and you should not listen to them unless you talk to someone higher up the chain who has a clue. I mean, this is an $8/hr job that requires a high school diploma at most.

I'm sure he just told you that cause he's sick and tired of people calling every second about the status on the phone's lol, these reps are super annoyed.

Is it a PO BOX? If no, then FedEx can deliver it.
 
I ordered mine around 5:00AM est Friday. I received my email for confirmation that afternoon.

This morning I received an email that my card had been declined and to call in. I did and they couldn't tell me why it was declined so they tried to reprocess and it failed again. So I gave them a different card and was told it processed and to expect a new email within a couple hours.

Well, about 9 hours later I called back in and sure enough, second card declined and for no reason. One through Chase one through PNC. So they offered to just charge it to my account (why didnt they just suggest that to begin with?) and to expedite the order.

Initially my ship date was 9/21. When it was put on hold it changed to 10/5. Now it says expected ship date is "not available at this time." I really hope this hasn't caused me to lose my place in line. It certainly wouldn't kill me to wait, but I have made plans to work from home on Friday so I can accept delivery.

It's not a PO BOX. I live in an apartment. Yet, I received an order through USPS from Mophie, but "undeliverable" through USPS from an eBay seller.
I'm really beginning to worry that there might be some complication in delivering my phone.

I called internet sales earlier today and was told if the card declines you get an email and that your place in line is not affected. Hopefully you get it by Friday.

My gf just volunteered to call off work on Friday to wait for the phones while I'm at work, she's the best lol. She doesn't want me to leave the signed note to leave phones outside of door, I don't blame her. Really risky buisness doing that especially cause alot of people know about the launch so can easily drive through blocks looking for idiots who left their phone outside.

THIS. They know a lot more than the 611 reps. They update the Internet sales teams faster and get them up to speed with solutions first.
Let me put it this way. Sales = profit. Store sales = small profit. Internet sales = majority of profit. Customer service reps usually equal a loss or break even, ie. bill adjustments, credits, ect. So if you had an issue with processing payments but found a solution, what team would you want to inform first and foremost?

Same here, my bank acct has a pending charge and verizon page says "your order will ship by 9/21". Still waiting for the shipping notification email...
