Verizon iPhone 5 Preorder Status Thread

I got my new phone ordered just after midnight. I live in San Francisco and I've had AT&T for years, but the coverage is really bad here and I heard it's much better with Verizon. The cost is a little more, but if the coverage is better I'm willing to pay a little extra.

I chose to have my current cell number with AT&T ported over. Will that happen on the 21st? Is there something I need to do to initiate that?

peopllleee i know its a lengthy thread but please read the first 2-3 pages


almost every question has been answered.
it says ship, on the status. last year according to people who preorded the 4s it said ship but they delivered on the 21st. If the Email says deliver by 21st then thats what it will be. if its changeds, verizon will email you again.
They said last year the dates were all off on the status check.

do you think if i change my payment method through the link, it might delay my order?
 
Any US folks that ordered through Verizon's site NOT get their card auth'd? I got a confirmation number, order shows when I check status, but my card has not been authorized.

This time of year is like seeing a movie after I read the book..I know how it's going to end, but the journey can still be fun. iPhone week = my xmas.
 
Reserved my 16 gb Verizon model around noon today from Verizon. I tried calling earlier in the day never got a human being on the line I wanted to keep my unlimited internet plan with my non-subsidized phone. While clicking around the data plan page a chat box popped up and the chat person walked me though buying the old plan and noted my record so when I activate it I should be grandfathered into unlimited. My email states I should get the phone 9/26 so in all it was a painless experience.

My card has not been ding-ed yet. That's consistent with the last two preorders I have done. They will charge the card when they are officially turning over responsibility for the package to the shipper. It could be as late as the middle of next week? I'm not sure why some people are seeing preauths, but I never have.

Probably not, but I wouldn't mess with it. If you run into issues you will regret it as phone volume is too high to be confident in getting resolution at this point.

I know if you order through Apple you get the ding, but I read at least one that said he ordered through VZW and got it..I wonder if I misunderstood, he had something else in the order, or I am just paranoid. Most likely all three.

I think many of us will spend the next week being paranoid ;) At least we have our own little support group here as long as we can ignore the flamers...
 
Not sure this has been said, but I talked to a couple reps who said those who have unlimited data and bought the phone full price will keep unlimited data, regardless of the data plan you selected upon checkout.

I selected the 2gb option since i wasnt given the option to keep my unlimited. So long story short, and what we already knew, if you bought full price and have unlimited, you are all set.

i couldnt see any activity on my online banking, but when i called my bank today they said they were charged $0. for a preauth i assume.
 
Ordered this morning at 5:30am from Verizon's site and my card isn't showing a pending charge either.
 
Alright someone help me out with this one last time... The billing address Verizon has must be the same as the shipping address on the order?
 
I can't my order status to show any where. I got my conf email with Deliver By: 9/21 but when I check the order status it tells me my info is invalid. I called Verizon and they see my order. Just want to be able to follow it and not wait for that deliver email sometime next week :eek:
 
Pre-ordered near midnight last night and I have a $1 pending charge from Verizon.
 
I feel like I am the only person unable to pre-order an iPhone when I haven't had an upgrade since my preorder the day the iPhone 4 came to Verizon. I don't get how this is possible because it seems like everyone else is able to with the 4!? Hmmm.

My personal line has an upgrade but I don't want to lose data (not the line I bought the iPhone 4 on) so I'll have to wait until 10/7, which is 20 months exactly.

That was not the case with mine. I was able to ship to a different address. Were you starting new service? I think if you're starting new service you don't have the option to ship to a different address.

if you are creating a new service, it boldy says they cant be chaged peeps.
 
So I'm a bit confused about how to keep my unlimited data. I thought I could just transfer the upgrade from one line to my line, but that seems to get rid of unlimited data for me. If I understand this right, I order the phone on the line that's eligible for the upgrade, then when it arrives, take it to the Verizon store to have it switched to my number, and then my data will be intact?
