They sure do travel a lot in Memphis... Lol. What's with all the movement? (I'm sure someone already discussed this but this thread gets so many responses to keep track :)
 
Mine has made its way from Newark up to the North Country. I expect it will hit Manchester, NH tonight.

I still haven't received a shipping confirmation email but I did log into Verizon and could see my tracking number. My phone is in Memphis with an estimated delivery of 9/21/12. I ordered at 8:37am est.
Keep hoping for info for you guys!

So here's where I'm at:

New line order 1: Additional info requested - finally got a useful rep who pushed the order through. She also said that orders before 9am on 9/14 will arrive 9/21, orders between 9a-11a will be 9/26 and orders after that are 10/5. Email says "COMPLETED." Card charged. Still no tracking info. Shows 2 day shipping though.

New line order 2: Went through fine. Email says "COMPLETED". Card charged. Still no tracking info. Shows 2 day shipping though.

Upgrade order: Went through fine. Email says "COMPLETED". Card charged. Still no tracking info. Shows next day shipping.

All were placed within 5 mins of each other around 4am PST. First rep I spoke to said ALL orders placed on 9/14 will SHIP on 9/21.

I feel so screwed by this process, as a business customer who spends tens of thousands pof dollars w/ VZW every month.
 
Nice! I kinda wished I purchased mine early online to be shipped to save a little $, but pretty content with Best Buy here so far.

i have a %25 discount on all wireless accessories with ATT through my work, so i think im going to wait until att carries car charges and cases and i am going to go grab them.
 
Got my package held! (Hopefully)

Called my local FedEx facility again to follow up with the nice lady I spoke to yesterday.

She was able to see my shipment since all the information is now on their system. She had to type an override for me to be able to pick it up there.

She did say that sometimes the driver doesn't see the notes she typed and it might still go out on the van for delivery.

Either way, I'll stop on my way to the airport tomorrow to see if it is there. If it is there GREAT! If not, oh well, just glad to see she was nice enough to try.

Worse comes to worse, looking forward to seeing it next week when I get back. I'll also try to look in SF to see some of the demo phones to see if I'd really like the iPhone 5 etc.
 
B/c this is SOP or b/c you have personal (firsthand) knowledge of the situation?

Fedex has dropboxes, and actual deliveries. They typically deliver twice a day, and pickup twice a day. Before 11, and before 3pm.

Fedex's last pickup of the day [Eastern time] is 7pm for packages/mail.

I know this is completely OT, so I apologize. But do you also get a discount on your calling plan through work? I am supposed to, and I'm just switching to VZW, but when I pre-ordered I didn't actually see a discount on my calling plans. But, I wanted the thing by tomorrow so I ordered anyway.

Is that EDT or Pacific time or what for the order times?
 
Did you mean at work? If so that i understand for some company's won't let you receive packages at work.

No, I'm lucky enough to work from home.
I mean a lot of people had no option at checkout to change the address from billing and were told no by CS. I've read posts by several people over the last few days on this issue.
 
Aight guys, about release authorisations for those who won't be home: just called VZW internet sales support twice, and had two different agents tell me that I should write a fre-form note stating that I request FedEx to leave the shipment at my door and that I relieve VZW and FedEx of all responsibility for the shipment. One of the agents said that tracking number is necessary, the other one said it wasn't but I could put it on if I wanted to. Both said to sign and date the note, and both said that they do not have a specific form available for this. I am going to call FedEx just to be sure, and I think I am going to go with a form from this thread myself.

I personally would NEVER do this (er, "...relieve VZW and FedEx of all responsibility for the shipment...") as it allows for the possibility that the FedEx employee could simply keep the package, knowing it likely was an iPhone 5. Look, people are people - not perfect delivery robots. The iPhone 5 will sell for ~ $1000 in China now.

For anyone who is getting FedEx delivery tomorrow and is not going to be home, you have the option of going on the FedEx website now and asking for your package to be held at the Fedex office. This way it is secure, and you can pick it up ASAP - my local Fedex even allows pickup after normal hours so long as I call in advance.
 
I'm keeping the faith. Just frustrating to see a charge last night and no apparent movement today.

So is it really true that them showing a full price charge on my card means they've created shipping and the phone will go out?

My guess would be that a charge on your card is the most reliable sign that you're phone is going out. It could still miss getting loaded on a truck, or a million other things that a mass shipment like this could cause, but I can't see Verizon justifying getting paid (and from what little I remember from my Commercial Law class, "pending" still means a vendor has received their money) and not sending out the product.

I could be wrong. But, with everything else you've said, I think you're fine.
