Verizon iPhone 5 Preorder Status Thread

I was told on the phone that the nano SIM is just like the current SIMs in phones like the thunderbolt. Programmable once and then its toast.
Yeah don't listen to that, you can't activate it and switch it with out going in. I'm calling before I activate it, I'm doing basically the same thing as you.
True. Though I fear, based on all the tracking info flying around in this thread, that it's improbable her phone will come tomorrow. Would seem that if Verizon has shipped it they'd have doled out tracking info like it seems they have for thousands of others.
I took off work tomorrow as a general get-some-things-done day (my stupid iPhone 5 isn't coming till 10/5

Guess with no tracking info I just can't quite know for sureLooks like mine left Memphis as well or should I say my wife's is. Sadly my phone was ordered thru Apple and missed the first wave. Lesson learned for next time - VZs stock lasted way longer for wave 1.
I really wouldn't. Especially on days like tomorrow, people follow FedEx trucks looking for a package left unattended. An iPhone 5 will sell for a hefty price in the coming weeks, too.
Yes. I posted this a few pages back and no one responded. I have this taped to my front door along with a bright orange post-it containing a short message and signed and dated. Remember that it is still THEIR discretion as to whether it is safe to leave the package, but if you go through the trouble of filling out a form and post it to your door (looks like an eviction notice), they should get the idea that you mean 'bidness.

After 2 days of hanging around in memphis, phone made it to my town in 2 hours. Can't wait for tomorrow.

I wouldn't say impossible before 12:00 EST comes around. But after that, I highly doubt that Verizon will ship via same day delivery so just hang tight for 2 or so more hours! Nothing you can do about it. Good luck.
My Tracking Slip says: "Indirect Signature Required" as I presume they all do.
Per the FedEx Customer Support web page: "If your package was shipped with the Indirect Signature Release option, you may leave a signed and dated handwritten note on the door instructing the driver to leave the package at your door."
My local FedEx driver confirmed the same to me today in person.

I called again and they just said we can't do it....it depends on the facility I guess....what's worse is that my iPhone just landed at my local facility....arrrgh!!!
Thanks buddy! I got a tracking # at about 3:30 for delivery tomorrow. I ordered through the business site at about 10:30 et on 9/14.
Swap Lines
Just a heads up, just talked to two reps from Verizon, and it is correct, a sim can only be activated on one line, once. If you have to activate, then switch to another line, call them to swap it first. They said the online may not work correctly. Save yourself having to beat crowds at a store tomorrow trying to get a new sim!!

Mine has been at the Newark Nj Fedex faculty since 8:21 am today and hasn't moved. It is coming to Western NY. Getting anxious to see if its gonna depart anytime soon
My phone supposedly left Newark about 9 hours ago. I'm not sure where it went but I only live like 4 hours from there by road so no clue what it is doing
Did yours actually say left Newark because mine has said arrived at newark at 7am then updated to say at Newark around 8am and hast changed sine I'm only about 3 hrs away to

Mines going to wilkes barre Scranton area in North east pa so it's only 3 hrs away but I know usually anything from Newark stamps at Allentown before it gets to my local FedEx hub
Activation of iPhones via iTunes?
Hey, I know there was some talk of activation some pages ago, but just to throw into the mix, called my local Verizon office today to ask about activation.
After checking with her supervisor, the woman told me that iPhones must be activated thru iTunes on an Apple page obtainable starting tomorrow when one searches for "iPhone 5 Activation" in iTunes. The page is not up and running yet. She said either use that page or activate in person at Verizon or Apple Store.
Has anyone else heard this?? I find that difficult to believe.
I'm planning to go to my local Apple Store tomorrow afternoon and have my favorite employee activate, transfer all settings/contacts/Apps, etc via iCloud from my iPhone 4. They'll be teaching 15 min iOS6 Workshops and have plenty 'o staff on hand.

Yeah mine usually goes to syracuse first. I'm thinking they are coming on a truck not a plane like most peoples.
