Verizon iPhone 5 Preorder Status Thread

Mine has been at the Newark Nj Fedex faculty since 8:21 am today and hasn't moved. It is coming to Western NY. Getting anxious to see if its gonna depart anytime soon

Same situation, mines heading to Rochester, NY - talked to multiple fedex reps today and they all said it is fine and normal, and though they couldnt tell me exactly, that they could see the path it was going to take, and it will be here tomorrow by 3:00pm.

Hello everybody, I know I'm just joining now but I've been following this thread for a few days. I preordered black 32GB iPhone 5 at ~6AM ET on Launch Day. Mine shipped at 3AM Wednesday. It's traveled through PA and NJ, and arrived at Newark around 7AM. It left at 4PM, and has been at "departed FedEx location" ever since.

To everybody worried that theirs is still in Newark I can tell you from past experience that your device will arrive tomorrow if the delivery date is tomorrow. Sometimes the scan doesn't go through the system properly, and then all of a sudden it's on a truck for delivery.

arrived at local fedex facility in newark at 8:23am
departed fedex location at 7:23pm
arrived back at fedex location in newark at 7:38pm

im assuming this happened cause it only needs to go about 45 min south to my house tomorrow

I thought the Fedex flight from Mamphis to ONT landed at ONT at 4:20PM

There are only two daily Fedex flight from Memphis to ONT one in the morning and one in the afternoon!

Strange.....

If you look at the flight tracker page that someone else linked, in the upper right, below the red text that says the departure/arrival times, it says "Scheduled:" and some times a few hours before that. So maybe the flight just got delayed? Hopefully that doesn't affect anything

Yeah mine usually goes to syracuse first. I'm thinking they are coming on a truck not a plane like most peoples.

I tracked it via 1-800-go-FedEx and it said my package was not it way to 18702 hub location if that means anything

just did that and it said it is currently on its way to the hub that ships for my zip code!

Yes. I posted this a few pages back and no one responded. I have this taped to my front door along with a bright orange post-it containing a short message and signed and dated. Remember that it is still THEIR discretion as to whether it is safe to leave the package, but if you go through the trouble of filling out a form and post it to your door (looks like an eviction notice), they should get the idea that you mean 'bidness.

I think it might be mine never said it left Elizabeth town so maybe it they just have a diffrent procedure for overnight shipment with special requests

Background:
So yesterday, the preorder page said something (I forget what), then last night the full amount went through to my credit card and the status changed to "Your order has been sent for processing". It stayed that way all day.

Called Verizon internet support around 5pm to check because if it came next week, I'd need to make sure I'm at the office for delivery; the nice woman on the phone said that it was waiting for a tracking number and should be delivered tomorrow.

Well the good news is I got my tracking number just a few minutes ago! The bad news is that it's set to be delivered on Monday. It's sitting in Memphis. I'm hoping that there's the slight chance they just throw it on the plane and it gets delivered tomorrow. It's happened with Amazon before, fingers crossed!

Oh well, it's been fun this week!

Supposed to be in Syracuse and delivered tomorrow. Could've flown into Rochester, but no arrival scan. It's a 16 hour drive if they are trucking it. Any ideas? I'm a patient guy but I've been having way too much fun following this neurotic thread.

Let FedEx worry about that. They're the experts. I've never known them to screw up deliveries, and I get a lot of packages.

I'm sure it'll fly into syracuse on an overnight flight tonight. You'll see the details in the am when you wake up from much needed sleep.

I checked my fedex flight on the flightaware website and it says it should have arrived already but nothing has changed on the fed ex website yet. Not that I'm worried or anxious or anything...

I am sure that fedex will do some special/extra deliveries to get as many iPhones out as possible. This is also a chance for them to get some good pr with thousands of potential customers.

Siri will clearly work in a car in Bluetooth mode. I don't use a Bluetooth headset -- I 'go rogue' w/ phone to my ear when driving. Only one ticket so far since California made it illegal.

Same exact thing with me. I am kinda pissed that the Verizon confirmation email said will be delivered 09/21/2012 but Fedex shows estimated date 09/24/2012.

Hey, I know there was some talk of activation some pages ago, but just to throw into the mix, called my local Verizon office today to ask about activation.

After checking with her supervisor, the woman told me that iPhones must be activated thru iTunes on an Apple page obtainable starting tomorrow when one searches for "iPhone 5 Activation" in iTunes. The page is not up and running yet. She said either use that page or activate in person at Verizon or Apple Store.

Has anyone else heard this?? I find that difficult to believe.

I'm planning to go to my local Apple Store tomorrow afternoon and have my favorite employee activate, transfer all settings/contacts/Apps, etc via iCloud from my iPhone 4. They'll be teaching 15 min iOS6 Workshops and have plenty 'o staff on hand.

When I got my 4S last year, all I had to do was turn it on and connect to my wireless network. It ended up registering itself. After a few minutes, the 4S was working and my old phone was turned off. Never had to call Verizon or anything. As far as I know, your choices are:

1) Turn the phone on and connect to WiFi
2) Connect to iTunes if you don't have WiFi access
3) Call customer service to activate
4) Stop into a store to activate
