Received the phones the FedEx guy seemed annoyed and tired. Set up new phone activation was fast on both. Then called att to cancel/close account that took forever. Now comes the long process of teaching my dad how to use the phone a birthday present for him.

Verizon couldn't activate my iPhone 5 on my grandfathered plan cause they needed to send me a new SIM for that line. So they overnighted a SIM card for free Saturday delivery

I added line of service for iphone

FYI guys, activation is a bit slow. It took a couple hours for my phone to activate after I followed the activation procedures. This is a new line for me so not sure if that is the reason?

Anyway, I love this phone so far :)

Mine only took 10 minutes and I switched from AT&T to Verizon.... Easiest thing I've done today ... So far pretty happy

Oh I bet I will run into the same issue as I just added a line also on a grandfathered 1400 family plan...Thanks for the info.

Just got my iPhone 5 about a half hour ago. It's awesome, but does have some small marks on the chamfered edge, but honestly it's a non-issue and is barely noticeable.

So I had to wait all day to get off work for my new iPhone (Fedex came at like 9:45am). Set up was relatively smooth except now plugging it into my mac, itunes wants to set it up again. Do I really have to set it up again or is there a work around?

My activation went so smooth I didn't even realize it had happened. I ported my phone number from Sprint and all I had to do was turn on the phone, followed the on screen activation steps and literally within less than five minutes, without any other human intervention, my number was ported and working.

I have absolutely no complaints about the activation procedure at all.

I got my phone at about 10:30 this morning ran to the apple store and picked up a new sim. Then went over to the Verizon store activated it and still have my unlimited data from upgrading another line on my account.

Driver delivered mine at 4:11 (was to be delivered by 4:30). My wife pulled in the garage and shut the door and he came roaring up the driveway honking the horn.

Said he was running way behind due to more stops than usual because of these. I was pretty surprised to hear that, since I live in a small town (30,000)

porting number from AT&T to Verizon was super easy and fast.(although my att line was down from yesterday). I am in Los angeles and i don't see 4G!! just 3G,why??

verizon wireless customer service rep is telling me I can't swap my phones to another number... wtf?

My iPhone5 arrived via FedEx to my house at 1:00pm PDT.
Wow. The FedEx driver told me he had 25 more iPhone5 deliveries in my immediate neighborhood alone.

Upon quickly activating the phone, I tried out the phone and became immediately UPSET with the phones' very weak volume & tinny sound quality even after turning up the volume all the way. I immediately called Verizon Tech Support to complain about that. The tech support specialist remained friendly and calmly asked me to check if I remembered to remove the plastic protective film that covers the front of the phone. Well, what do you know.... why didn't I realize that the plastic film covers up the phone's ear piece speaker. Boy was I embarrassed. After removing the plastic film, the iPhone5 sounds great now. 5 minutes later I received a call from Verizon to rate their support service, and I of course gave the tech support specialist I spoke with a 10 out of 10 rating.

first day with verizon, furious already...

this policy of not allowing fedex to hold a package without 1 delivery attempt is moronic. i understand the signature requirement, no company wants to be liable for $600 phones going missing, but what in the world is the point of sending fedex drivers on wild goose chases to addresses with nobody home?

no hold, no redelivery attempt, and since the drivers are so overwhelmed trying to make all these deliveries he will not return to the hub until 8pm which leaves a 30 min window for pickup, if he even gets back there on time.

pre-order for ipad 3 from apple.com was so much smoother, fedex held the package on release day without needing to visit my empty house first and i picked it up on the way home from work with no issues. never preordering from a carrier again.

Anyone with delivery of the 28th seeing any action? The anticipation is KILLING me as I keep reading these posts about people getting their phones today. I'm always nervous about delivery estimates from anyone but Apple because you never know how much stock they'll actually get. I'd assume the carriers must be pretty confident though, right?

I know some of you guys are still waiting but hang in their!

And plus Verizon is treating us well...COMPLETELY unlocked right out of the box even if you bought under contract! :)

iPhone finally delivered around 2:30! I was concered since the shipping address Verizon gave FedEx was slightly off, but my co-worker was also expecting one so I figured I would at least know there was a problem if she got hers and I didn't. When the FedEx truck finally arrived at our parking lot, she tore out of the building and ran to meet it! I played it cool and merely gnawed half my fingers off at my desk.

Thanks to you guys for keeping me amused/informed/diverted over the past week. And best of luck to those still waiting to receive their phones.

This has nothing to do with VZW.

On another note:
I received my phone around 11:15am and was told that the Costa Mesa, California hub had more than 6,000 iPhones to deliver today.
