GPS on the iPhone doesnt use data...
I reset my usage and went on a road trip, if I'm not totally mistaken it used a couple of MB, maybe for determining my location?

I don't really think so. CDMA and GSM are different technology. It would be like hack a walkie talkie to connect to a mobile phone - I guess.
Q: Did you change the antenna?
A: Cook: We've optimized things to work on CDMA, but I'm not commenting on anything beyond that.
i get the feeling there's something were not being told about the new antenna.
i get the need to readjust to cmda, but did they need to redesign it
I watched the leak video a few days ago, and although the break points are the same as the Verizon iPhone released today, there was also a SIM card slot that they emphasized was in the same position as the current iPhone.
This would mean that although similar to what was released today, the leak is probably the next GSM iPhone. Which leads some suspicion to Tim Cook saying the break points are due to the CDMA network (not antenna gate).
Why?Dear AT&T,
Allow the Personal WiFi hotspot (tethering) at either no cost, or a minimal one time fee...now please.
The version on the demo units is 4.2.5.
Yes, no one realistically thought that it'd be THAT huge. Wait for iPhone 5 and you'll get that. As Tim Cook said, they wanted to get in on Verizon ASAP because people kept asking for it NOW.
Again, it's not a 5GB cap, they begin throttling however at 5GB.

I thought they were making something that was compatible with both CDMA and GSM... So if not, then does that mean that the V iPhone is non-resellable?
What GPS app are you using? No, that still wouldnt use data. I dont even have a sim chip in my iPhone 4.. i use it for navigation and an iPod at this point. Navigation doesnt require ANY data, thats the whole point of having the maps on the phone.
What GPS app are you using?
The built in Map app requires data since it doesn't store the maps locally.
Just don't plan on making/receiving calls during critical downloads. I'd hate to begin a 100 mb file transfer, have it stopped (via a voice call) and then start over again....there goes all my megabytes!
A WiFi hotspot sounds good until you have to disconnect to make or receive a call. No thanks!![]()
well. that's not true either. But the Droid X hotspot is only 2GB and $10/ extra gb
they probably didn't redesign it in the sense of 'secretly fixing the great big design flaw' because there wasnt one. But folks will read into any changes as being that kind of fix
That said, Cook should have left off the second half of the comment as it is defensive and is going to make folks think there is a secret fix that ATT users are being shafted on.
