I think you are forgetting that you are in a contract because they subsidized your last phone. They are not just going to forget about that.

why not, ATT did it with the iPhone 3 release, I was able to get each iphone one after another at the sub price even though I signed a 2yr contract.

Well what's aggravating me at this point is the fact that I have an annual upgrade on my account, an upgrade I have earned. I can go there and get any phone for promotional pricing. Yet now, they're trying to tell us that we suddenly can't use our annual upgrade???? Suddenly they get the iPhone and, what was great customer service, is now turned to this?

I've been told yes and no by both customer service and online....I can't get a straight answer. I'm not asking for an early upgrade, but to use the upgrade I currently have sitting out there on my account.

So anyone that has an annual upgrade, prepare for the worst.

Therefore there is no waist in production/development of the iPhone 4 for Verizon. That is why Tim Cook said "Verizon customers want the iPhone NOW!" ....and we do, but I for one am willing to wait for the iPhone 5. Apple will maximize profits for 4-5 months on the iPhone 4 for Verizon from February to June/July. What do you guys think?

First of all, "Verizon customers want the iPhone NOW" is such a hollow statement (aka lie). Apple is making iphone for vzn because of Android. They want to try to hold off android before it gets too big. Verizon customers have been wanting iphone for YEARS, NOT now.

And yeah, sadly early adapters of vzn iPhone 4 will be envying iPhone 5 with LTE before end of 2011, which works fine since my att contract isn't done until late 2011...

Ah so many half true statements and spins you have to work through in life these days...

I now understand this move in February for Verizon!!! Read on....
I like many other Verizon Wireless devotees and Apple Fanboys eagerly anticipated the release of the Verizon iPhone ( I still have the LG 8600). I would be the first in line to purchase a Verizon iPhone 4, but when the press released the details, it seems that there were no improvements. I wished that there was a 32GB entry model, the rumored 8MP Sony Camera, and 1080P recording, because I just really want an all in one device an do not want to carry around a camera anymore. Unfortunately there were no hardware improvements. But I realized why Tim Cook deflected many questions about how many iPhone 4's will be shipped and LTE. It is because for the first 4-5 months of production, the 16GB and 32GB models will be sold for $199 and $299, respectfully. But in June/July the iPhone 5 will be released on BOTH carriers. This will then allow the iPhone 4, at say 8GB or 16GB, to drop by $100. The Verizon iPhone 4 will be $99 in June/July. Therefore Verizon, like ATT will have a low end and a high end option, catering to price conscience consumers. It makes perfect sense. why do you need 8MP?
just post pictures on facebook? unless you blow up pictures to more than a poster size the current 5MP is plenty.

Especially when apple says stuff like this (like they didn't have time and did it over the weekend because we want it now):

"Earlier, Apple and Verizon executives note[d] that the two companies have been talking about building a CDMA iPhone since 2008 and that the project involved months of testing that eventually involved more than 1,000 prototypes," Fried reports. "'A big part of it is the software, I’d say the biggest part,' Schiller said. 'It uses the hardware in different ways.'"

You know our politicians and diplomats will be better at their job if they just follow macrumors. They will get so good at reading between the lines and figuring out the real intentions of their adversaries...

Funniest thing I've heard in the 2nd decade of 21st century.
"Our customers are wanting vzn iPhone NOW."

Not sure how this is equivalent. You're currently only 8 months into your current contract. Maybe in the summer when Verizon gets iPhone 5, then you'll be at 12 months or so.

bloody hell! i just bought the MiFi last month! well still a good news. :D

While it may be true that Apple is offering the iPhone to Verizon because they are actively competing with android, to say that Apple is lying that Verizon customers want the iPhone now, is just ignoring reality.

Look here and tell me if there is no demand for an iPhone on Verizon:
http://www.google.com/trends?q=iPhone+verizon,+Android+verizon&ctab=0&geo=all&date=all&sort=1

There have not been lines for Android phones, and there will be lines around the block for the Verizon iPhone.

Oh... wait a minute.
No voice and data at the same time?
No thanks. I'll pass.

This should pose interesting support issues for both AT&T and Verizon.

AT&T on people canceling and then wanting to come back and wanting their cancellation fee back... Verizon on trying to explain why the iPhone they have now is not as good as the one they just had with AT&T.

The average person is not going to understand why their "New" iPhone does not do something that seems fairly basic to a normal user, that their old iPhone did.

I don't know for sure, but I am guessing data stops and your phone rings. It really is a simple and elegant solution. Just like if you are using the wifi hotspot. Data stops, phone rings. Either answer it or and the call and keep on tethering...

People who keep saying this don't seem to understand why this is a limitation in the first place.

The problem with it is being able to do both at once, so it can't magically just know to switch over. That is the rub... It is not nearly as elegant as some here seem to be hoping for...

You might have to wait longer than June/July.

Glad the iPhone is on another carrier just because competition will ultimately keep prices lower than they would be otherwise. Also glad that ATT will lose customers because they suck. Staying with ATT because Verizon sucks even more.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/532.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0.5 Mobile/8B117 Safari/6531.22.7)

Hahahaha Rolf is it even an iPhone if u can't use data and voice at the same time??? Lol hahaha what happens to all those ads "all while talking on the phone"??? Hahaha what a joke

Really? Are we really going to scrutinize Verizon's service plans after all this waiting and anticipation over simply just getting the iPhone?

Seriously, I could care less if I can or cannot simultaneously browse the web and talk on the phone. In reality, I wouldn't want to do that because that just means I'm less involved in the conversation with the person on the other end. If I need to retrieve an e-mail or something, it's still socially acceptable last I checked to just say "hey I'll call you back".

At the end of the day, Verizon has the iPhone now and I'm happy because I've waited years for that to happen.

Ahaha, that made my night. Thank you.

Exactly.
Simultaneous voice and data is useless if you can't get any bars or signal.

Have you never simultaneously used data while in a phone conversation with someone? If using a handsfree/bluetooth headset, it's actually very convenient. It's a wonderful ability that, personally, I wouldn't sacrifice by switching to Verizon. ...Plus I absolutely hate Verizon as a company. But if it was worth it I would switch back. Right now, it's not worth it at all.

So..AT&T are you really still going to try and charge people $15 a month extra to tether iPhones with a cord? To use the limited amount of data that people already paid for?

I could see maybe ATT offering free tethering on the capped data plans but not for their unlimted data plan. Not that I like that very much but I can see the jutification on their end. You should be able to use the data you are paying for on any device you want. They will have to do something though to fight off the exodus.
