No LTE? Still only a 800 MHz singlecore CPU and an old GPU? Still no rSAP? Hello Apple, we're living in 2011 and not in 2009 anymore.

Not sure if this has been asked or answered....but since you cant use the phone and the internet at the same time...Say you are using the hotspot from ur vzw iPhone with ur MacBook Pro and then you get a phone call on the iPhone....do you get kicked off the internet on the MacBook (or any other device wireless connected to the hotspot)? Anyone know FOR SURE and no one that is just saying something just to answer the question....

It is suppose to give priority to voice. Data will stop and the call should come through.

Now a few years ago that didn't work perfect for me when I was with a CDMA company but sounds like from others it has improved where the calls are coming through.

If you are on the internet with Verizon, does that mean you miss calls coming in? Or you just can't be on a call and then go on the internet at the same time? Confused. Thanks...

It will be interesting to see how this new design performs. Now if only I didn't have a contract I could consider switching to Verizon...

Looks like the mute switch was moved on the actual design.

Current iPhone 4 cases will probably not work with the Verizon one. I hope these sites can confirm that ASAP for us vendors :(

Seems to be some confusion...

Phones with mobile hotspot built in are built in on most phones.

You just have to add the service if you want to use it.

Why would anyone rate this negatively? Some want it, and AT&T lovers want a lot of people to switch to Verizon. It's a win-win for everyone.

That's exactly my thoughts.

The fact is now people who want an iPhone will have a CHOICE.

You know the facts....decide what's best for you and quit telling others what's best for them.

Antennagate was 5-6 months ago. I think the hardware was pretty much finalized at that point. They aren't going to be able to redesign a phone in 6 months unless it was some overly glaring flaw with an easy manufacturing fix. If anything, I'd expect major changes in the iPhone 5.

I'm kinda expecting the iphone 5 to keep the same form facto since apple seems to keep there form factors for 2 years or so, id actually expect something like this, an antenna redesign and possibly a change in the back material from glass to some plastic, because people dont seem to like the glass back and because a plastic would possibly let them finally get a white iphone out since it would be able to deal with the supposed light leak into the camera thingy they used has an excuse for no white iphone :p

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_2_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8C148 Safari/6533.18.5)

This is where I'm at... I could cancel my ipad data plan and save $30 a month. That savings would be more then my fees to break my contract.

Fabrication, prevarication, and damned lies

Steve Jobs said there would never be an iPhone on Verizon.

When Steve Jobs says there would never be an iPhone on Verizon, that means there will never be an iPhone on Verizon.

Until Steve Jobs changes his mind :D

He said what??
Where do you get this stuff?

Aka Verizon cripples iPhone. No data use (google / maps / etc) during phone calls? FAIL:

Apples Big Lie Revealed...

Nothing wrong with the original iPhone 4 antenna?
What a con job.

Verizon could see right through Apple and demanded a better antenna.

Apple will lie AGAIN and say it's because CDMA requires a "different antenna"

One fact remains, Apple are world class liars, and smart enough to be sure they didn't screw up the Verizon phone.

I should really skip the reply and just add you to my ignore list, but here are two very basic facts that you should understand:

1. Frequency determines the optimal sizes of an antenna. GSM and CDMA operate over different frequency ranges, so the optimal antenna length will be different. Hence the re-design.

2. The reported "problem" was created by bridging the gap between the two antennas at the bottom left side of the phone. That gap is still there to be bridged. if they were designing the antenna to fix that "problem", don't you think they would have relocated that gap?

Don't leave AT&T guys. Seth the Blogger Guy said they are improving their network. Verizon may be offering free mifi for 5 devices, but Seth hasn't told us AT&T's response yet. Seth said AT&T is teh epic best.

Seth? Seth?

i thought that too at first... but no simultaneous voice and data is a deal breaker for me.

Plus, ATT is great in my area and hopefully they will allow hotspot now as well.

I'm the reverse, be nice to just get phone calls to work on an iPhone again...

Well I'm unhappy with the announcement because I was hoping for more. Hoping for LTE or the ability to use voice/data at the same time with Verizon. Guess I was just hoping for too much.

Also, its gonna suck that apple is not gonna give older iphone 4's any antenna support if this new design is a better one

Just because there is no problem at all. iPhone 4 has better reception than 3GS and all other pda i have and my friends too. You have problem in low coverage area, like with any other phone exist in this world only if you cover with you hand the antenna, which is present in any phone. Surprise surprise?

Not much experience in electrical engineering and how antennas and the frequency spectrum work, huh? There is also reason for the difference in size and shape of over-air HD antennas compared to UHF and VHF. They are all different, yet they are all for TV. Hmmmm.

Different frequencies require different antennas. Period. Now I am sure, in arranging the new CDMA antenna, careful consideration was given to placement in light of past issues. But to imply the antenna difference is driven principally by the AT&T phone is inaccurate.

If done properly, the device will drop data, ring, and prevent access to the data network. However since the wifi hotspot will exist even when in a call, the devices will still be connected to the iPhone, they won't however be able to get outside data until the call is ended.

Oh one other thing for newbies to Verizon/CDMA. The EDGE equivalent on Verizon is 1XRTT...the problem is it's much slower than EDGE on AT&T and with 1XRTT, anytime there's data transfer NO CALLS GET THROUGH. So if you ever see 1XRTT (or just 1X) on your iPhone on Verizon, you're basically screwed if you want to use data unless you get back to 3G.

Where's all the posters with "Apple will never make a CDMA phone", or the "iPhone will never be on Verizon until LTE"? Wow I guess they are hiding under rocks...LOL

I think that was back in 2007. I am an Apple follower and I only heard of people waiting of Verizon to partner with Apple for the iPhone.
