All day I been getting the order processing Verizon status. Now, after getting the pacifiying email assuring me they had my order, their order status page is down. I noticed earlier people's order status page was unavailable, then when it came up they had their info. I wonder if they are fixing things one area or group at a time in their system?

It wouldn't matter if the $29.99 data plan got activated on her line. You could remove it the next day. Data is a feature that can be changed any time. If you have a 3G smartphone it is a required feature of course. It's the line that's under contract, not any features of the line.

I am not eligible for upgrade but there was no way I was paying $750 for a phone. I added a line to get the 32 GB iPhone at $300. I am going to activate the day I get it and then downgrade it to an old non data phone later that day. That way I can remove the $29.99 data feature from that line and pay $9.99 monthly for 24 months. That way I get the iPhone 32GB for $540 instead of $750. My current phone is worth about $300 so I will recoup all of the money it will cost for the third line plus a little extra.

Sure this is a little work but I have no idea why someone would pay retail when this is simple and will only take a couple hours at most to sort out. The data plan is not part of the contract unless you have a smart phone on the line where it requires the data feature.

I had to do that exact same thing a couple of years ago when the wife was out of insurance replacements on her phone and lost hers. The Verizon rep actually suggested that we do this to save us money, and I've been using it as my upgrade since it's on the off year of my main line.

But I do have to say this, that $9.99 isn't $9.99, by the time Verizon gets done tacking on charges, it's over $18 a month to have a 3rd line that I never use, has zero calls, data, texts, etc on it, and is tied to a dead LG Voyager anyway. I'm almost half tempted to drop it just because of that reason.

1. Do you have to call/visit Verizon to get that feature removed or can you do it online?

2. That was a smart plan you had. I totally agree with you; there was no way in heck I was gonna shell out $650 for a phone. I figured I'll go through a little trouble after I'm holding it in my hands to use it on my number

data plans get added or removed automatically depending on the type of phone.

one thing to be aware of though is that if you have the data plan removed, any data that is used that day is considered out of the plan and you are charged extra for the data usage. I have no idea why that is honestly but I had to deal with that very issue not too long ago.

It is MONDAY yet?!?!??

I was order # 180- got on VZW site a little early ;) and JUST NOW got my email shipping confirmation...
The usual suspect- Westchester PA Monday by 3 etc etc

I do have to say that this is by far the friendliest, most fun, forum I've been on. What a pleasure. I gotta get off here and check for zombies now...

someone plz respond to my question. If a have 2 lines on verizon and both are eligible for an upgrade but the first line had 100 credit and i ordered the iphone on the first line can i activate the iphone to the 2 line

your question was already answered but yes you can do that. You have to activate it on the 1st line first before you activate it to your 2nd line.

So if I activate the iPhone on my line and my mom keeps her LG Chocolate Touch Verizon will automatically take the unlimited data plan off because its not a 3G smartphone?

I'm not familiar with the Chocolate Touch, but if it's a feature phone then yes it will be removed automatically. Actually when you do the switch online, it will show you all the features including the data plan that will be added and removed. So you'll know for sure.

That's it people. Your phones are basically being shipped to your local courier's distribution site to prepare for delivery on Monday. So, phones are coming on Monday. There's nothing to see here. Move along now. You all keep making me check this thread lol

Anyone who ordered at full retail from Verizon... CANCEL YOUR ORDER IF YOU CAN. You just gave them $50 for absolutely no reason!! I have cancelled my pre order, and I will be ordering my phone from Apple for $699 instead of $749 through Verizon. Scammers!

I'm just hanging around because I'm online waiting for my order status to change and finally indicate it's shipped...right now it still says processing....

in the meantime, I'm passing the time getting apps in the itunes store in anticipation of the phone's arrival...

erm.. did you talk to anyone from verizon who said you could do that? I've never, ever heard of that working. then again, I've never heard of anyone trying it. as far as I know, you cannot upgrade your phone at promotional pricing until your time comes, on your line. I think your mom is the only person who'll be able to use the iPhone.

I could be wrong, I'm not really sure, it just doesn't sound right.

You can do it. I had a friend do exactly that. Had her mom upgrade, and then switched it over to her line. It's a nice way to get around it. You can activate any phone on your line. I think you first activate on the line it was ordered on, reactive the old phone on the same line, then activate the new phone on the other line.

Yup took me a loooong time to quit crackberry. But it happened by itself as my phone became more frustrating than I can bear. lol

I must say I unequivocally hate you all who are getting your phones on Monday. No if's, and's, or's or but's! Thanks to Verizon's stupid ordering system I got no notification that my order wouldn't process until it was too late. I asked the rep WHY I was never contacted. She gave me a line about how the order system is automated so if there is a problem YOU have to contact them. Then WHY when you order do you have to give a number where you can be reached? Hmmm...

It seems the contact number is so they can keep robo-calling you to answer a stupid survey. They keep calling me now and I didn't even get to order.

possible good news for me.....my order status page finally changed from order in proccesing to the now-infamous error page

kind of ironic but that to me sounds like things are moving along as expected....lol

Welp... I've never been so excited for Verizon Wireless to charge my bank account for 317.99.... :)

Can anybody help me track my order via PM?
