"Shipped" probably means "in the box waiting for the fedex guy to pick it up."

I could be wrong but you can't get a tracking number until the package was actually picked up and physically shipped, correct? Otherwise, there really isn't anything to track. The tracking numbers come from the shipping companies not the company selling the product?
 
I just got off the phone with Verizon. I'm in Raleigh and was told that they aren't shipping until the 8th for delivery on the 10th. No way was it going today. I'm hoping the rep was wrong!

I'm on the coast and I was told that pre-ordered meant that we had one reserved for us. He said it only guaranteed a phone if we pre-ordered and the phone would ship the 10th. So many people are being told different things. This is frustrating.
 
I actually talked to a VZW Rep last week and he told me that if we pre-ordered on the 3rd, we would get them on the 4th.

That would certainly be in VZW's best interest. I mean they want these phones in people's hands as soon as possible. Word of mouth from those that pre-ordered will only make the 10th bigger.

I think it is safe to say that most of the reps don't really know what is going on. That has been evident throughout the entire process. I guess I just had a crazy thought which really has no real means to validate my idea but here it goes. Why not believe that it is possible for the phone to come tomorrow. If the Verizon store managed to open up before 3am EST and they don't specifically say that the phone will not arrive before the 10th. Then we can at least be hopeful. The orders do say overnight shipping so if they truly are shipping today then it is possible that we will have phones tomorrow. Still I don't want to get my hopes up too high, probably already are, but at least we are guaranteed to be getting phones!

i ordered mine at 2:46am Eastern time (idk why but it let me order early) and my order number and ace # is 2... but when i called the lady told me it will ship on the 10th. im located in Cleveland, Ohio

I was on the phone earlier with a VZW rep trying to get my backup assistant to work. I asked when the iphone would ship and he said, "as soon as they are ready." This was before they updated to shipped.

Is it really that difficult to send an email out to managers saying when the phones would ship and to pass the word along? I don't think the phone reps have really ever been told when they are shipping.

Wrong. Fedex Account holders have tracking #s as soon as the label is printed. It's not in the tracking system though until the carrier scans it during pickup.

Dumb question: Do you have to contract for the hotspot or is it like ATT where you can use it one month but not the next.

Very cool! It the process of the ordering I did run into a snag since my current call plan was not compatible with the iPhone I had to change my plan before I could upgrade to the iPhone. When I went to change my plan I was not able to since I had already ordered the phone for my secondary line. I hit the sack and at 8:00 talk to a CSR who fixed up my plan and I was then able to order via the website.

My wife's secondary line ordered at 3:05 am EST:
9625503400000007 - Your order has been shipped.

My primary line ordered at 8:05 am EST:
9125203403260000 - We received your order and it is in process.


Looks like she gets to have her's before me. Which is usually how it goes. ;)

She also said is that the email everyone was receiving was a generic email with the Fedex Next day and they are working on a template so you can track your iPhone once it actually does ship out. Just thought you guys should know! But to contribute to this thread my order number is 2064.

This excites me as I originally placed my order at 2:55 am EST. Little did I know by entering my social instead of my wife's put the order on hold status because her name is on the account. Called up Financial Services...I had to cancel and reorder this morning at 9:00 am EST. :rolleyes:

The SuperBowl is this weekend. In about 24 hours I won't give a flying **** about any phone.

Although, hers is the 16GB and mine is the 32GB. Are the ones that are being shipped only 16GB? Anyone else running into that issue?

Correct. Although I do hope it is true, the status of shipped does not really mean anything at this point. When a label is printed it can be marked as shipped in the system indicating that is has been assigned a fedex label. It does not mean it is heading out the door. This way, VZ can track which orders are ready to go and which still need to get a shipping label made up. Not saying this is what they are doing, but it is very possible. It would be kind of crappy for VZ to send the "check your order status" link without clarifying this, but who knows.

As for the "reps said this, reps said that" lingo. Anyone who has dealt with any customer service reps with any of the major wireless companies, no they really don't have any information. Many of them get their info from forums like this.

Until someone has a tracking number or actually receives the phone there is no way to know for sure what is going on.

I am in Texas though so I hope they are indeed shipping from TX location since mine also says shipped ;-)

I ordered both of mine in one order. 16g for my girlfriend, and a 32g for me, my entire order says it has been shipped.
