Line 1: UDP w/ Upgrade Avail. Line 2: 2 GB TDP

Ok I'm extremely paranoid about losing my UDP. So here I asking for a personalized answer.

I currently have an i5 on line 1 and plan on transferring my upgrade from my UDP on Line 1 to Line 2 which currently has a 2 GB TDP and preordering the iPhone 6 this Friday 9/12 through Verizon's website. My UDP on line 1 will be retained correct? If yes and I preorder using this method how do I proceed once the i6 arrives? Do I discard the SIM that shipped with the i6 before I turn the phone on and put the SIM from my i5 (UDP)in the i6 or do I activate the i6 on line 2 then deactivate it and reactivate it on line 1.

My goal is to upgrade to the i6 with a subsidized price and then move it to my UPD line. Please help.

Any idea on the amount of stock? I won't be able to pre order til the customer service phone line opens at 6 AM due to eye surgery leaving me temporarily unable to look at screens. That's about 3 hours after the pre orders go live.

Is it a single line plan?

I have the same question. Currently on a single line. Upgrade available but want to keep my UDP.

I'm currently with ATT and my contract doesn't expire until 10/3. I'd like to give Verizon a try but wouldn't be able to switch until after my contract expires. It sounds like the $60 single line plan would be gone by then? Any plus to buying phone outright for a cheaper plan? I don't want to pay more than I'm paying with ATT ($65). Thanks so much for any insight you can provide!

Edit: I suppose I could sign up with Verizon on launch day and just keep ATT contract for one more month and eat that cost but would there be any way to keep my current number?

Why is there no clear cut answer on how to buy the phone with no contract subsidy. It's just crazy. I am not eligible for an upgrade, and want to pay full price, and they are making it tough to find out what I should do.

Is there a minimum commitment for the $60/m single line 2GB plan?

Two year if you want contract price.
If paying phone in full, no.
If using edge, it's 50/month plus taxes on that then the phones full price divided into 20 payments. (32.49, 37.49, 42.79, or 47.79 depending on the phone you are getting)

Trade in question

I have a family plan and have two upgrades available.

Can I order two iPnone 6's online and then trade in two 4s's in store for the 199.00 each trade in credit a couple days after receiving the new phones?

Thanks

That option should be up there like it is with all other phones.

How will the pre order process work? Can I sign up for new service (more everything), apply my employee discount and get two iPhones (one for each line) all at the same time?

Or will there be limitations such as one per order?

I spoke with a verizon rep who said if I wanted to keep my unlimited then I need to upgrade on another one of my lines then switch the phone back to my line when I get it. Then she tried to confirm it with her supervisor who told her no that verizon has closed that loophole and if I try to switch it to my number, I will lose my unlimited data plan.

When I call and speak to other customer service reps, no one has heard that and they are all telling me I can switch them. Basically I don't wasn't to lose my UDP!

Verizon will change your upgrade date!!! Try hard

Unfortunately for me my upgrade date with Verizon was after xmas. Which sucks if you want to upgrade now.

I call Verizon and they initially offer the edge early plan which would entail me paying for the full price of the phone over 20 months. i quickly shot down this idea because in 3 mos my upgrade would come through. $700 now vs free in 3 mod?? cmon big Red....

It wouldve been cheaper for me to cancel my service(single line 60 a month) at a $75 cancellation fee. Hek it wouldve been cheaper for me to have two lines until then. $700 vs the increased cost of an extra line???? um no brainer.

The lady would not budge on the upgrade date and she said she would have someone review my account and look into giving me a discount on the early edge plan. I ended the call there as I had to go back to work.

So on my second attempt talking with a Verizon rep about my upgrade date being late December and me obviously wanting my iPhone on Friday, I pulled out the big guns.

I for one said that I am happy with Verizon but that because

1. They changed their early upgrade policy (18mos and now its a full 24) mid contract I would consider canceling my service and shopping around on Friday for the best deal

2. I told them it made no sense for them to charge me full price when the ET fee was only $75. common sense would tell you that I can cancel my plan with verizon and sign up tomorrow and get a free iPhone 6. Or worse sign with ATT.

Why would they risk me leaving when I am still willing to sign a two year contract on the spot? and even willing to pay a $75 premium???

So eventually the guy offered to move my upgrade date to friday and even offered to call me back to take my personalized order! Not only that I still get the $200 gift card so my 6+ 64Gb will be 200 cheaper!

I have to say Verizon has impressed me. I have Fios the customer service is great. And now I am loving Verizon wireless too.

keep trying guys

I wonder if the trade in offer is also good for those who are currently still under contract (and thus not really eligible for an upgrade at discounted 2-year contract pricing).

As long as the line that has unlimited is not actually using an upgrade, you will keep the unlimited. If you do an alternate upgrade and switch the phone over, you're fine.

Illustration:

Family Plan: Line 1 - 2 - 3

Line 1 has unlimited

Line 2 does not and has an upgrade.

Use an alternate upgrade on Line 1 based on the eligibility of Line 2. Basically, (the computer does all this) it's upgrading Line 2 to the iPhone 6, then switching it to Line 1, then moving the old phone back onto Line 2.

And the data plan? Doesn't line 2 have to keep the data plan? As in reported by many websites such as these?

Here's my situation for which I need some advice.

I have an out of contract basic phone on Verizon for work. As of a few months ago, my company now operates under "bring your own device" instead of using the formerly company provided phone, and the plan was converted to a personally managed plan with a bill credit each month.

My AT&T contract for my personal phone is already up and my wife's is up on 10/19. I'll be porting both over to my Verizon account and then canceling the original line for the basic phone, using my original personal number for work now as well.

My question is, how long do I have after ordering the phones through Verizon to activate them? Obviously I would like to buy the phones early and then wait to activate but I don't know if this is possible. I don't want to wait too long to order since inventory will be scarce after the initial pre order phase, but I don't want to port out from AT&T until 10/19 to avoid the ETF on that line. What's the best way to handle this other than waiting a month and then trying to find phones in stock?

Phone Credit, Edge or No Edge With Cancel?

Hey, thanks for doing this! Here are my questions:

Looking to trade-in a 32gb Verizon phone and use that trade-in toward the iPhone preorder. Any idea how that will work? Do I need to buy the 6 and wait for them to pay me for the 5?

Also- I am looking to get a new 6 now, knowing that come June I am moving overseas and will need to cancel service. Should I EDGE and pay the balance of the phone when I leave, or sign a 2 year agreement and then pay the ETF when I leave? Are there any cost differences?

I am not currently eligible to upgrade with a discount until next year. Can I still pre-order the iPhone 6+ through Verizon or Apple and purchase the phone at full retail price?

I have a family plan with unlimited talk and text, all 4 lines eligible for upgrade:

iPhone 4s with unlimited data
iPhone 4 with unlimited data
Dumb phone
Dumb phone

Is there a way to get iPhone 6 on all 4 lines, and keep unlimited data on the two while getting less shared data on the other two? Or should I give up the fight and get Edge?

Another scenario:
Wife and I each have 5s 32GB. We each want 6 32GB.
We're 1 year into our contracts.

Twin daughters are phone less but that will change at Xmas. Always thought they would inherit our phones but a $300 credit makes it cheaper to return ours and buy new for them at Christmas. 5s's should do though I guess they could suffer with 5c's.

Grandma has a 4 year old dumb phone that she knows how to use.

Option 1 - std 2 year contract
Option 2 - EDGE
Option 3 - buy at full retail
Option 4 - something I haven't thought of

Suggestions? Thank you!

Thanks for the help!

Can we add a line to our existing plan for $9.99/month and then get a new iphone at subsidized price, but activate on one of our existing lines when it arrives? Will we need to keep 3 data plans, or can we not activate a phone on the 3rd line? Finally, when the contract expires on one of our older phone lines, can we then cancel an extra line, bringing us back to 2 lines and removing the extra $9.99/month charge? Any advice you have would be greatly appreciated...thanks again!

What are the odds of getting someone at Verizon to move up an upgrade date by less than a month? The wife's upgrade is October 12, but a phone rep flat out immediately told her no when she asked to be moved up in order to pre-order?

if we choose to "Edge Up" online and turn in our phones, will we mail them in or take them to a Verizon store?
