Hello! I'm sure you're swamped, but I just have a quick question. In 2012 I had a lot of issues upgrading to my iPhone 5 on pre-order night with the VZW website, even as an account manager.

I'm going to be using the VZW website as a backup if the Apple one slows down too much, I just want to make sure I have all of my bases covered:

I am an account manager, I switched the billing address to my apartment for the time being, I have the account owner's SSN as well as the billing password. All of my billing addresses and shipping addresses across all of my accounts are the same.

Should I be okay to use my own credit card even though it has my name on it and not the account owner's name? Or will I need to use an credit/debit account with the account owner's name?

I don't know if this is a plan questions per se, but it's a question which will help determine whether I'm going to leave AT&T for Verizon.

I want to be able to utilize voice and data simultaneously. With the new VOLTE service rolling out, that will be a possibility with the iPhone 6. My question is what are the limits to that. I've heard that VOLTE only works at this point if you are talking to someone on your own carrier. Is this true? Does that mean simultaneous voice and data would only work if I was talking Verizon to Verizon?

Thanks in advance.

My contract is up Oct 12.

Any chance that the Verizon Corp store would allow a trade in, and early upgrade, say on Sept 30th?

I'm a current Sprint customer but my fiancé will be adding me to a new line on his family's Verizon plan. I'd like to keep my number. My sprint contract ends on 9/14. Is there any situation in which I would be able to pre-order on Friday through apple? Getting the account holder details isn't an issue and I don't mind shipping it to that billing address.

The easiest thing to do would be just upgrade the line without UDP then do a device only change and move the i6 over to the UDP line. I'm not super familiar with pre ordering, but that is how you would do it otherwise.

So to confirm xfer upgrade to line 2 upgrade line 2 and when I get it call customer service and ask them to transfer it to line 1 all without activating on line 2 first? Or does it not need activated on line 2 at all?

I've checked my eligibility for an upgrade and apparently I'm not eligible until 12/29/2014. Are there any (financially sensible) options for upgrading before that date? It isn't a big deal - I can wait 3 more months if I have to, but would like to upgrade before then if possible. It seems like I've heard that you can typically upgrade 18 months into a 24 month contract - but that *might* exclude iPhone upgrades?

Still can't find definitive answer on how exactly one does the trade in. I have an old 4 in excellent condition. If I look at the trade in program on the VZN website, it offers me $34 for the phone. Clearly, not the $200 the media has suggested.

So how does one do the trade in? I want to order online tonight.. might there be a spot where it you check off that you have a trade in and you get the discount? That would be nice, but suspect it won't be that simple. Does one have to stand in line on the 19th at the store with trade-in in hand? I can't find details on the exact process. Anyone know?

It used to be 22 months into the contract and then even 20 months, but last year they changed it to alight with the contract and basically be 24 months unfortunately. (I'm in a very similar situation with almost that same upgrade eligibility date.)

That should not be a problem whatsoever, as long as it's shipping to the address on file.

That's what I figured. Oh well, it's only a few months wait. Gives it plenty of time for the initial rush to die down and plenty of phones should be in stock. Also gives me some time to compare the 6 and the 6+, hear some user reviews on both, etc.

if I use an upgrade on a line, am I able to use an iPhone 6 on a different line and retain the unlimited data on said line? The lines are connected on a family plan.

Just note that if have unlimited on line A and you upgrade line B, the data package will need to stay on line B for the duration of the contract. So if you normally have a basic phone activated on that line but upgrade to a smartphone, the data will stay on the line even if you go back to basic phone.

I had a question regarding pre-ordering the iPhone 6, I'm on a shared plan while both of us are NOT eligible to upgrade until next year, just wondered if I am still able to place a pre-order tonight paying full retail price and stay on the same plan we are on now without the monthly bill changing..

Also, what would you recommend the best website is to pre-order, or does it not really matter, heard something about Best Buy being convenient when it comes to staying on your current plan..

Thanks!!

I have a question.

Can I go into the store tonight and activate a more everything plan with 2 lines but not activate any phones? I want to switch to Verizon for the free GB of data per line.

I want to be able to order on Apple.com so I can take advantage of the free exchange in case I don't like the 6 plus.

Would the store activate a plan for me without making me activate a phone? Thanks for your help.

I have a few months old One M8 that is not yet upto the 60% threshold to change devices. i want to pay upto that percentage as part of the preorder, or as they call it - "edging up". Will there be any problems doing this via Verizons site tonight?

I'm not due for an upgrade and I just want to flat out buy an iP6 at full price and then swap that new device into one of my current lines. Is this possible? No Edge, no contract extensions, etc. Just a device swap.

And can I purchase this on launch day from Apple?

I've got two lines on a Sprint family plan, both are out of contract (no ETF). I want to preorder two iPhones, switch into Verizon (eventually on a family plan), and port my existing numbers. What's the best approach to doing this? Thanks!

Free GB of data? How does that work?

I will be a new Verizon customer. Would like to put two phones on edge. The website only allows 1 at a time. How do I add a second phone to the account?

I have been answering various Verizon questions that are strewn across this forum, so I thought I would make a thread for someone to ask a question and I'll answer it, just to help out the community. Obviously I will not disclose my position, but I am capable of providing fact driven answers to most questions! Also, if you have any Sprint related questions, I can help out as well.

Let's get started!

1. Will I be able to preorder if I don't get up at 2:45 this morning?

2. How do I a) preorder a new one for me, b) one for my girlfriend, c) port her number from AT&T, and d) set up a new family plan; all in one fell swoop? Or do I need to do separate transactions and merge the plan after the fact?

I have a Verizon question - right now I am contract free - I bought the iPhone 5 2 years ago for full retail price off contract and I am one of 6 phones in a More Everything Plan with 10 GB of data. I am currently getting the $25.00 a month credit for having an off contract phone.

Does it make more sense for me to buy my iPhone 6 at full retail price and stay off contract, or does it make more sense to join Verizon Edge? I will most likely keep the iPhone 6 for another 2 years because I try to stick to the 2 year upgrade cycle. Or does it make more sense to sign a 2 year contract and get the subsidized pricing if I am most likely going to stick with it for 2 years?

One more question - I know very little about Verizon Edge - to join the program from scratch, do I need to trade in an existing working phone? Or can I join the Verizon Edge program without any phone being traded in?

For the person above you said that Edge was the better deal since he would get $25 off per line. He is already getting $25 off per line since he is off contract so wouldn't buying the phone at full price and Edge be a wash? The only difference is he is paying up front instead of over 24 months.

First of all, thank you so much for starting this thread!

I am currently with AT&T and I will be getting an iPhone 6. However I may switch to Verizon later on this year once my company makes our new discounts available. For future proofing, I was thinking of buying the Verizon model at full price (since those come unlocked) and use it with AT&T in the meantime. Later can I bring that iPhone to Verizon and have them activate it with my new plan? I've seen mixed answers on whether or not Verizon will activate a Verizon model iPhone purchased from a third party. Would the same also hold true for a used Verizon model 5S?
