Only 3%????!!!!! cmon Verizon users!!!! I am pretty sure I am 75% of that 3%. Lol. In my first 72 hours, I have used over 14gb of data. I have been tormenting like crazy over 3G,

way to ruin it for everyone!

A rep told me that by adding the Mexico plan that my rollover minutes wouldn't be touched. WRONG! They flushed them and when I called back to bitch about it they just told me that they always do that and get over it (paraphrasing). They said 'any' change to a rate plan blows your minutes.

*SOB* I had somewhere north of 7,000. Pissed I was...

And no offer to put them back either.

You should have asked to speak with a supervisor or Retentions.

Rollover minutes were accidentally removed from my account a couple of years ago, and when I spoke with them, they added them back no problem.

It's amazing what Apple brings to the table with the iPhone. Hardware is what, 8 months old now, and carriers are fighting tooth and nail over it. That's how far ahead the iPhone is in terms of the rich User Experience it offers consumers.

Still the best-selling handset, with a new one just around the corner. All talk about the next iPad just serves to increase mindshare (and desirability) of Apple's other products. Halo effect. I know of no other tech company today that can pull this off.

I have three iPhones activated under contracts through AT&T. They never offered me 1000 minutes free. But then again, I have over 3000 R/O minutes on each account that will never be used anyways so they likely say that they would be wasted anyways.

After getting out of my ETF with AT&T, I went and promptly got a Verizon 32GB iPhone and sold my jailbroken/unlocked AT&T. Made a good chunk of cash and as you will read, significantly improved my experience with the phone.

If you live in downtown Chicago, you know how useless AT&T is (basically it barely works..if you're outside), but with this new Verizon iPhone, I almost constantly have full bars and my voice clarity is perfect. Some say the data speeds are slow in other threads. Let me tell you..I load all of my favorite sites in 3-8 seconds as a median (AT&T..well, lets just say if I could load something, it was much slower), and my voice quality allowed me to delete google voice.

It is a godsend for us here that needed a carrier other than AT&T.

Add me to the list: sent "YES" to the listed number and almost instantly got a reply from AT&T thanking me for accepting the offer.

Haven't had any problems with AT&T since adding a Microcell to the house, but I'm also not going to complain about free minutes now that my daughters are getting older.

These boards will be annoying

Once the new iPhone is announced in a few months, will we have to deal with the new Verizon slappys complaining how they can't upgrade early and wish they were back on AT&T? These numbers won't mean anything until a trend can be set, and mean a lot more once new hardware is released on both carriers.

This is going to be the slow burn ... no the lines were short on launch day, but business has also been very steady since then as well. Watching this meter of the past day is pretty impressive ... it's not going to happen all at once, but there's a very steady stream of folks jumping on the Verizon side of the house, and that will probably continue for an extended time.

Gophone???

Texting that number from my Nexus One works as well. It'll be interesting to see if it happens.

I read someone got this to work on page 6 with a different brand ATT cellphone anyone tried with gophone?

Update: I have a expired minutes gophone SIM in one of my old 3G that is still active untill April so I tried this and got the reply Thanks for accepting 1000 bonus minutes LOL will see what happens in 4 weeks HEHE.

WOW I also have a H20 SIM in another old 3G its still good for another 2 months and it also worked for H20. I know H20 uses ATT so this will really be interesting to see what happens in 4 weeks LOL.

I can verify it doesnt work on my old deactivated original gophone SIM that one was replaced to get a SIM not locked to my gophone LOL.

Think I will wait couple days before I try my iPhone 4's see what happens.

Not surprising. I know many people that wanted an iPhone but also wanted to stick with Verizon. This can only result in good things. Less traffic on the at&t network, and more competition from Verizon.

Texting that number works from any AT&T phone because it is an automated script, so the 50% of the posts in the thread saying "OMG IT WORKED" shouldn't really be shocked.

A script sent you an automated reply. For all we know the offer is only actually valid to those who were initially sent the text. I wouldn't get so excited about it yet. If I use the MyWireless app, it takes roughly 2 minutes to pull up my account information regardless of connection speed.

There is no way that script which replied to my phone before my finger was 2 inches off the "Send" key actually validated with the account database that I was eligible to receive minutes.

edit: I was not initially sent the text either.

LOL! AT&T is desperate. Less congestion for Verizon users then :D Not that we have problems with congestion anyway.

Competition is good. With this many extra minutes, I could lower my billing rate for a few months and not see a hit.

Here in the west valley area of Silicon Valley (Los Gatos, Saratoga, Monte Sereno and Campbell), the AT&T coverage is good so I have no plans to switch.

Extra beer money!

Nothing could get me to go back to Verizon. My iPhones have worked wonders on ATT. I can't complain.

Humm..from my stand point I get to choose between:
a) a crappy network but somewhat affordable
b) a good network that's ridiculously overpriced

Fortunately I have no interest for the iPhone.

I have had several dropped calls at home. I called customer service to see what could be done, and they only could recommend I turn off 3G service at home since my GSM coverage was better in my area. So far I seem to get better reception and less distortion. I explained I had switched from Verizon to get the iPhone a few months back and that I never had problem with Verizon calls in my house. The rep explained that they use a different technology. They didn't seem to want to do much.

I tend to agree with this assessment. I also think the backlash will be substantial at this point, especially for iPhone users. I have three iPhones on my acct. AT&T better damn well tell me I'm important to them too.

Got my minutes

I never received the original offer via text, but sent my "yes" anyway. Why not, right? I've been an AT&T customer since January 2004, have had an iPhone since launch day 2007, upgraded to iPhone 4 on launch day 2010, and later bought another for my wife.

1,000 minutes were applied to my rollover account yesterday. Thanks.
