Wow...

When did this board turn into nothing but AT&T hating verizon trolls?

Seriously, complaining about free minutes, you all are ridiculous. If you don't want the minutes then don't accept, and if you're unhappy with your service then switch carriers and ****.

Then reply with NO if you're going to be stubborn. You're basically saying no free minutes are better than 1000 free minutes. Never since I've owned the first iPhone (and every other one) have I had a dropped call - you must live in the projects since you're acting like picking up the phone will undoubtedly result in a dropped call. That's not to say that there aren't people who drop calls, but don't be such a drama queen about it. Take the minutes and quit acting like a stubborn 6 year old.

You must be lucky, or perhaps Florida has better coverage since it's such a small state with everyone crammed in and no open space? Anyone that hasn't had a dropped call on AT&T either isn't using it, is lucky, or is lying.

Just sending the text worked for me, though I have no use for more minutes. My wife and I have only used all 550 of our monthly minutes once in three years.

en español!!

i didn't get the initial text, but i responded with YES. but i hit 11113021 accidentally. it worked, and i got my confirmation message in spanish.

Wow who are you people who claim to never dropped a call on AT&T in years of usage? Even on verizon people get dropped calls. I smell bs.

Not good enough.

How about 200 free tx messages with your 200MB data plan, 2000 w/ a 2 GB data plan? Text charges are the biggest ripoff! Even better, bring back unlimited data plan and drop the fee. I wish Sprint gets the iPhone one of these days. Then we'll see some serious competition in the US !!

Just msg'd YES to 11113020 and it worked. None of these posts are useless... They are ideal to me to keep up with every new offer I find worth taking advanrage if snd do far this site has helped me save $287.00 and 1000 free rollover minutes, so * I* appreciate them and encourage them regardless if they're no smart business byATT or not :p

Ps. BUY AAPL on any price dips... Going to $450+ per share by December 2011... :apple: :D

Rollover DATA!!!

At this rate VZ will have approximately 99% iPhones in about a month! LOL

More of a marketing gimmick for Chitika that anything...

I don't see how anyone could confirm you actually got the minutes until they are credited to your account. What if it isn't AT&T but just someone trying to get cell phone numbers to send random texts to? I hate getting random texts about refinancing and bankruptcy and payday loans. Anyone know how to stop them from occurring? I'm already on the do not call list (lot of good it has done).

That's a good point and one I didn't consider until after I sent that text. However, FWIW, it didn't work from a Google Voice number and a Verizon prepaid phone I tried it with (I got an undelivered message reply). Of course, non-iPhone AT&T users are saying it works. So take it FWIW.

I get free data every month... But I'm running out of pretexts to get more free gigs. Sofar, 40 free gigs in 7 months. Might help next time to ask why can't you convert rollover minutes into data... The new tethering options coming out will come in handy... Bwahahaha :D

I believe it works because if you text 11113021 you get the same msg in spanish, which is not proof but... I'll call and get the minutes added and get a block manually and hope the system adds them again ib 4 semanas :D

Ps. Buy AAPL on any dips as it is guaranteed to go to $450+ by Dec. 2011...

Exactly! I have the 450min plan and I rarely hit 400 mins a month...weekends, nights, and mobile-to-mobile (plus a home phone with unlimited calling anywhere in the US and Canada) keeps me under. However, even with those bonuses, I still rarely dial more than 300 mins anyway...I'm just not a huge cell-phone user for calls.

It would be nice if they dropped the texting to $5 for unlimitted or simply dropped the entire rate $10/month. With my corporate discount I am still paying $67/month with all the taxes! To me, that's high for a 450/min plan no matter what cell phone I have. I want it more around $40/month or less especially after I shell out $200 for a cell phone AND a 2-year committment.

When the iPhone 5 comes out in June-ish, I'll switch to Verizon.

Let me get this straight:

You want 450 min, free nights and weekends and mobile to mobile, unlimited texting, unlimited data, with taxes for $40/month?

Are you for real?

I want that too, of course AT&T will never give it to me...

Since this seems to work with any phone on AT&T, if I have a Pay-As-You-Go plan, can I still get the 1000 free minutes? I don't want to lose the money I currently have in my pay-as-you-go plan.

Not really. And as I've responded below, I'm not saying I constantly have 5 bars, there are definitely areas where I'll drop down to 2 or so. But no, I'm not lying, no I'm not going to further justify it (because I find it highly odd that people can't believe that), and Florida really isn't all that small. I live in Pensacola (FWIW).

Chill out, man. Copping an attitude won't put more bars on your phone.

No attitude. Just making someone realize how stubborn and child like they are acting...

"Oh thanks for the free 1000 minutes, why'd you give em to me, so I can just drop them!" Come on now.

And I'm not saying I have 5 bars 24/7, poor response.

Now that's funny. Never dropped a call. Even the biggest fan boy wouldn't admit to that. At least try and make it believable.

What's funny is you don't believe me and you haven't the slightest idea. I'm not going to attempt to justify it, though. Now, I've been on the phone with my parents (who live about 3 hours away) and they have sprint and the drop me ALL-THE-TIME.

Its not just the projects where AT&T has bad service. Its a good number of places...*snip*

It was just used to stress my point. If you feel that was a poor choice of words, it wasn't mean to be offensive. Whether you feel it was or not, that's on you.

"you must live in the projects since you're acting like...."

WTF?

See above quote and response.

Nor will verizon or sprint or any other carrier. You think building networks is free? You're out of your mind.

"Verizon iPhone Represents 3% of U.S. iPhone Traffic"

This article is interesting, but there have to be some chunks taken out of that for the thousands and thousands that have unlocked iPhones. I doubt it's really 97/3%.

Wow...

I could add when did this board turn into being all about Verizon!

It's getting a bit boring logging in to see yet another Verizon thread, but I guess without it there probably wouldn't have been much news otherwise. Apple sure do know how to play the forums. :D

Approximately 900,000 Verizon iPhones? Yeah, all the trolls on this board were right. The Verizon iPhone launch was an "epic fail" . . .

Well it's still pretty far off from the carnage people were predicting, "millions of AT&T users will jump ship to Verizon"....didn't happen and the 900,000 is based off "estimates"

I pay £10 ($15) per month for that in the UK.... the only reason that price seems outrageous to you is because the networks have decieved you into thinking $75/month for a phone is normal.

I'd be happy with a 200 minute plan starting a $29.99 as long as it still had rollover minutes, nights & weekends and mobile 2 mobile. A lot of my friends have AT&T, and most of my calls are at night or on the weekend so they don't count towards my minute total. Then with rollover minutes I would be safe even with my small allotment of minutes.

But AT&T doesn't want to cater to customers, no wireless carrier does. They just want the plans set up so that people have to move up to the next tier and then barely use that much.

For example, Text Messages. Not so much anymore, but with their old plans you could get 200 texts for $5. The next plan jumped to $15 for 1500 texts. There are a lot of people that use a lot of texts, but I would guess a majority of people on that $15 plan used around 300-1000 texts a month.

The $10 1000 text plan is better for that group, but what about the group that could get by with 200 texts? They now have to sign up for the $10 plan and pay for crap they don't use. (Assuming they are a new customer, of course)
