Unlikely but if this happens to stay steady...it's not a bad thing..basically means that Apple is doubling their sales. How many phone makes can claim that? I do agree that most people are waiting for June to make a switch as well as a lot of people are probably doing what I am...waiting out my contract. We have 2 iPhones in the house, no way I would want to pay two termination fees. Att is not that bad for me.

They aren't doubling their sales. If you think they are doubling their sales you think the USA is the only country in the world and that people who are buying the verizon iphone wouldn't have bought the at&t iphone if verizon didn't have it. In fact the USA isn't even half of the iphones sold in the world and many people buying the verizon iphone are new customers who would have bought it from at&t if they were the only game in town

Verizon is like the cool new Boyfriend...but the sexy girl (iPhone) still has feelings and too much history with her EX (AT&T) so they are still sneaking around behind new boyfriends back :D

The bottom line is people may be waiting or they may have just been talking out of there rear ends. Nobody can definitively say anything other than people aren't buying Verizon iPhones. The rest is speculation.

I think people see the fact that even though you are tied to the ATT contract, you can still use your phone in other networks in the US, not to mention use it while traveling, period!

The NETWORK advantage was not much of an advantage after all, this is what kept Apple away in the first play, but Verizon paid dearly just to get this on their catalog of phones... I do wish them well on their attempt, but I think people know there is a difference. Now it's up to ATT to expand their network in those coverage areas where Verizon is king... that could drive competition even further. We could see (as consumers) a very positive impact in offer from either company! :D:cool:

The reasons are simple:

a) A new iPhone will be out in less than 5 months

b) For those who are still worried about the "Antennae Gate" and poor AT&T services, first want to see if there are any drawbacks on Verizon's service or Verizon iPhone

c) Also, many probably spent a lot of money on iPhones/iPads during the Thanksgiving and Christmas time for their family members and loved ones. I know at least 5 people in my office who bought or received an iPhone as a gift during the Holiday seasons - simply because they are the "laggers" - first time smart phone users and they simply didn't spend time to research the market for possible Verizon iPhones or iPhone 5.

Wait until the iPhone 5 comes out and then do the research and see how many and how fast AT&T users will switch to Verizon. For sure, I will be one of them.

Ummm, it's called AT&T users being stuck in the middle of a contract right now and the fact that iPhone 5 will be coming out in June... Maybe that has to do with it?!

Those who really wanted an iPhone already got one last June and are now stuck in a contract. The rest who waited this long can wait a little longer to get the next one. So you are left with just a small number of people wanting to get it now. Verizon is not giving any incentive to switch. Instead they charge a $35 activation fee. Their service is great but it is just not worth switching right now given the cost. I will however switch in June if a new 4G iPhone comes out.

There are 4 things stopping me from switching to Verizon.

1. Cancellation $250 cancellation fee with AT&T.
2. I always want the latest and greatest so I will have to pay full price for new phone in June/July. Which Verizon may or may not get. For all we know AT&T will get it in June and Verizon in January.
3. Verizon data is slower than AT&T.
4. Cant talk and surf at the same time.

Yeah, there are a few (very vocal) unhappy AT&T customers. This shows that most people recognize that speed, concurrent voice/data, global coverage, 'real' conference call ability (can drop/swap anyone) are more important than an extra dropped call or two.

Most people probably want iPhone 5.

Or the technology savvy actually care about cdma limitations.

Also, they are totaling sales in big stores. Most of the Verizon sales are not going to be in areas with "big stores" rather they will be in suburban and remote areas where Verizon is the ONLY network that works. Such as the area I am in, between Grand Rapids and Kalamazoo, Michigan. AT&T is almost unheard of as a carrier out here. It's all Verizon with some Sprint subscribers here and there.

My monthly amount would be higher with VZW, after I figured that out, I saw no reason to leave for less service. I use voice and data at the same time and would miss it and I have no issues making a phone call with ATT.

Could it also be a little bit of over-hyping about the depth of dissatisfaction with AT&T? Not discounting the level of or justification for dissatisfaction among some, but one could have assumed based on media reports that there would be a giant sucking sound as people stampeded away from AT&T.

Full disclosure: I couldn't even convince my spouse to join me w/ AT&T when she decided to get an iPhone because of "everyone" telling her how bad AT&T is.

So, in a survey of a whole five stores, Verizon sold more in its first five days than AT&T did. Is that right or am I misreading something? If so what's the problem?

There are a lot of us AT&T iPhone customers who don't live in SFO or NYC where we still have the sense to pick our carrier based on coverage where we work and live first and the device second.

I'm a huge iPhone fan (2G, 3G and now a 4), but if the coverage sucked where I live and work, then I would have jumped ship for Verizon or Sprint a long time ago.

Two things:

1. People waiting for the revised version of the iphone, and

2. Current customers are locked into AT&T or Verizon smart phones and cannot upgrade at the present moment.

We'll be getting 4 iPhone 5s

My husband, my parents, and I are waiting for the iPhone 5 on Verizon. We'll be getting 5 the minute the first reviews come out and it is known to be a good update to the iPhone 4 on Verizon.

San Francisco on AT&T is as bad as everyone says. We really want to get phones now, but June will be here soon enough.

Ummm, it's called AT&T users being stuck in the middle of a contract right now and the fact that iPhone 5 will be coming out in June... Maybe that has to do with it?!

I could sell my iPhone 4 for most of what it would cost to break my contract and buy a new iPhone 4...

i know im waiting for iphone 5, or iphone 4s if that is what it will be called.
wifey was part of the pre-order for vzw iphone and has been loving it ever since.

i dont consider iphone sales for vzw as weak/soft since this iphone will be updated in a short while, people are still on contract, or might have renewed contract with the holiday rush.

overtime, vzw will have:
1. stolen away customers from at&t when their contracts expire
2. stolen away customers from sprint/t-mobile
3. better sales figures when iphone 5/iphone 4s is released

slow and steady wins the race

Why pay ETF to break my contract and buy a new iPhone just to switch carriers? ... wait until new iPhone and contract ends to maybe switch carriers.

The better statistic is to look at how many new Verizon smartphone buyers are getting the iPhone over an Android device.

I wouldn't have expected a huge number of iPhone sales right now... in June, that would be a different story.

As many have already stated, pretty much everyone expects the iPhone 5 to be out in June with Apple's annual refresh of the device. Why buy now when in 4 months, you can have something better / faster?

As far as the AT&T haters looking to jump ship... many of them are still under contract with AT&T. Why pay an ETF to switch, when the contract will run out in June around the time of the next iPhone?

I don't care how many they've sold. I can now finally make a call and have 3G service in my area. I'm thrilled.

I've had every AT&T iPhone and have always suffered through Edge speeds and poor coverage area. Those days are finally over thanks to Verizon.
