Also I wanted to mention that the $300 trade-in program was not working in-store. That’s the program that you trade in your old device and put on a device payment plan where the $300 is taken out incrementally per month. What they ended up doing for me is just crediting my account $300.

Still waiting for activation...

JFC, the biggest launch of the year and your servers crap out. Get it together Verizon!

For those on IUP, when asked for the last 4 of your SSN is it asking for the last 4 associated with the Verizon account or for the Citizens One account associated with IUP?

Reason I ask is because I’m on my wife’s Verizon account for an 18% discount so when dealing with anything Verizon and last 4 of SSN it’s always her last 4 that I have to use. Citizens one is obviously my own.

I'm also having the same issue... I actually get an error saying Verizon couldn't verify with information provided when I enter correct zip code and social... or I wait forever for the loading to complete from the screen showing my phone number... or I see a page saying Verizon servers temporarily unavailable. So frustrating! It's been 2 hours!

It's the last 4 of the main Verizon account holder. I just went through it and finally got it activated after a few minutes of "activation servers too busy" nonsense. Good luck!

This is the first time I've bought a phone directly from Apple. Can someone please confirm...do I simply remove the SIM card from my current iPhone (a 6S+) and insert it into the new iPhone X...and then power up the iPhone X and follow the on-screen instructions?

Try that first. That sim is currently active and should work with the X. That way if it doesn't work, you can try the new sim. If you try the new sim first, it deactivates the old sim, and if the new sim fails, you are stuck with no sim card. Tells us how it goes. Just make sure you don't turn on the X with the preinstalled sim. Take that out. use the old sim, and then power on.

Anyone else unable to activate their iPhone X on Verizon right now? I have tried over and over, and either get the message that the activation server is temporarily unavailable, or when I enter my zip code and last four of social security number it says they are incorrect and then eventually locks me out until I start over. Is it just me?
I had this problem the previous two years, and it wasn't a server problem and the SIM swap didn't fix it. It was saying my SSN and or ZIP were invalid. The fix was to put in 0000 in the SSN field, but it didn't work right away. In 2015 when it happened it was escalated to executive support and I could finally use my phone a few days later. Last year it worked the day after I got my phone. No issues this year as I started doing the Apple Upgrade Program instead.

Same here, have tried everything - including restore in DFU mode via iTunes, no success. Apple and Verizon both on the line, are "investigating"

I never had to do that with any of my apple phones. i just put the old sim in, power up and it activates. Never asks for SSN or zip. I pay full price if that matters.

This just happened to me - this issue was on Apple's end. They forced something through and I had to put all zeros for zip and ssn

Damn, I hope they figure that out and call me back. Last I spoke to Apple they said they would be escalating this to their engineers.

Anyone know how to force it to activate over cell network? Mine isn’t giving me the option, and I have a feeling my company’s wifi is blocking the port needed for activation. I’ve been trying to activate it (on Sprint) for an hour now, and Apple’s server status page says the activation servers are up.

Holy **** that worked!! I entered five zeros (00000) for zipcode and four zeros (0000) for social security, and it worked. Ridiculous bug.

Thanks. Cant be without my phone, so I may not set it up until late tonight instead, after many go to bed. If VZW does get your phone to activate, tell us how they did it.

I am home with my phone now, when I went back to the store I asked what the delay was and he said it was all in trying to download the newest iOS update. He said I had to have it in order to back up my old phone. I’m not sure how the activation went, although something took 10 tries before it worked.
