If it is iPhone 4 the timing is just awful. Not only iPhone 5 is going to be announced soon, iPhone 4 is hopelessly outmatched on Verizon right now. It can not compete with LTE-capable phones. Who is going to buy 3G phone on 4G network?

So, earlier they were saying February, and now it's January. This is reminding me of Skinner's delusions about Remy in 'Ratatouille':

Skinner: O-ho, I see the theatricality of it! A rat appears on the boy's first night, I order him to kill it, and now he wants me to see it everywhere! Ooooh! It's here! No it isn't it's here! Am I seeing things, am I crazy, is there a phantom rat or is there not, but oh, no! I refuse to be sucked into his little game... of...

it would be hilarious if they only announce that the Samsung Fascinate (Galaxy S) will finally get Froyo.

Or like LTE pricing plans lol.

But as many Mac centric tech sites have been invited, its almost assuredly the vPhone

All I have to say is that this forum and its members will be in for an epic treat when they find out that there is no Verizon iPhone.

And that invitation looks horribly compressed...

LTE is spotty at best. I guarantee even iPhone 5 won't be LTE compatible.

edit: also, I'll believe it's the iPhone if Gizmodo doesn't get an invite.

They didn't!

But here's what's key: We're great friends with Verizon. (Hi guys!) We've worked with them for years, and We've been to like every event they've had over the last three years. And we haven't gotten an invite. We've reached out to Verizon to see why, exactly, but we've gotten no comment yet. (And they're on their game, so they're usually pretty quick to reply.) The obvious answer is that it's an Apple event, and Steve doesn't want us there. You know the story.

The only update would be the CDMA support - otherwise the same, so not really updated.

I think the better question is: why would anybody buy the Verizon iPhone (4!) now when the next generation iPhone is just around the corner.

Come on dude! Did you REALLY think the "White" Phone was having "Color Matching Issues"?

The same plant will be producing the CDMA phones!

They will be Black, and look exactly like what you saw pulled from the Web yesterday. They have been in warehouses for 2-weeks.

Look for the 4s in GSM May/June. :apple:

I think the only way it's not the vzn iPhone is IF the invitation is fake.

The image compression doesn't matter whatsoever considering who created the invitation. Keep in mind that this is "We can't Photoshop" Verizon and that just about every single rumor has been pointing to it.

Ahhh... they have to live where there is a 4G network for one. Not here where I am.

LTE is very limited right now - as much as Sprint's 4G. A majority of people who would probably buy the iPhone on Verizon probably wouldn't even care because of the basic allure of finally getting the iPhone and that they would have the same experience as AT&T customers (albeit with better coverage).

Now, will this be the Verizon iPhone? Maybe, because Gizmodo wasn't invited, but maybe not.

It might be spotty now but it'll improve soon and what then? You are stuck with iPhone for at least 18 months.

Well then to use your argument, why was the ORIGINAL iPhone only for EDGE? 3G coverage at the time of the original iPhone was FAR more widespread than LTE is (even for what is projected for 2011). Also, LTE requires a lot more power that I don't think Apple is willing to sacrifice battery life for.

Verizon iPhone > All Other Announcements

They didnt want to kill all of the other important announcements.

You apparently didn't follow the thread correctly. You and I are in agreement. Re-read my post and what I was commenting on.

wow. this is insane. I've heard rumors for release in february, in 4 months, in 6 months, 2012, and June 2012. Now I'm hearing, next week??? I can just picture it. This is going to be like when Apple made a big deal of releasing the Beatles on iTunes. Everybody's going to be so pissed 'cause they were fooled again. You know what I think? I think Verizon is taking advantage of this stir-up of information. Their "big" announcement will draw many eyes and ears, more than if there were no iPhone rumors. And thus whatever they release will get more publicity. They are taking advantage of your gullibility!!!

But I guess we can only hope......cross your fingers for a Verizon iphone everyone!! :)

I have to agree with you as it isn't like Apple to follow the proverbial lemmings into the battery hog and effectively useless fire that is 4G at least not yet.

Question: is it still iPhone 4 or the new iPhone 5 to be announced on the 11th?

Why does everyone think the iPhone 5 is coming? Hello! That won't even be on the radar screen until the spring at the soonest.

It will be the iPhone 4 for Verizon. Anything where new hardware is going to be announced will be at an Apple event.... not a Verizon event.

Grain of Salt

Hard to say that this is what the rumor alleges, especially since Verizon has been busy rolling out their faster network. Could likely be a 4G LTE announcement.

Then again, might see the following:

1. iPhone V that doesn't support the 4G network
2. iPhone V that DOES support the 4G network
3. No iPhone on Verizon but some big network news.
