I called Verizon and also had to cancel my order to take advantage of the promotion. Re-ordered with the promotion and everything is good now.
Really? So you lose your place in line? Figured they could change the order rather than cancelling it and having to re-order which then means you would be getting your phone weeks later than your original purchase

I'm trying to find out what was done differently, based on what I and another poster here were told, we can keep our order the same and just process the trade in after the fact
Yeah I thought they could just add the promotion but no dice. At first they actually wanted to cancel the order and have me go into Verizon on 9/16 to do the trade and order, which wouldn't have been ideal. So I canceled it and was able to re-order right away. The only good thing is that my new order still has the 9/16 delivery date.
The person I talked to on the phone was super nice but wasn't the most knowledgeable so maybe you can have better luck.

Sorry for some reason the direct reply isn't working for me.
They canceled it over the phone and I was able to re-order right away. When I went through the process and got to the "pre order" button, it brought up a dialog window that had "Trade in device" as one of the options. Then it just went through the selecting device process.

Hmm, interesting. Cause I got to that part and I asked the chat rep and they said don't go ahead and do it, but they told you do that? What did your order look like before you submitted it?
Good point, doing this from my work PC. I'll try from my personal laptop.
- Check content blockers.
- When all chat reps are busy or the system is swamped, the chat options aren't available.
LEANTHONY: You do not have to re order. Once you get the devoice, you would then go to vzw.com/device-recycle, Then finish the trade in process.
LEANTHONY: Then you would pay the first 2 billing cycles of the i phone 7, then you will start getting a bill credit each moth for the i phone charge.

Yeah they told me to re-order and go through the promotion trade in process. After I selected the phone to trade it said the appraisal is worth $650. At the checkout it noted that the $27 whatever would be taken off per month. Shortly after I got an email from Verizon with trade in instructions.

If you go to order a new phone now and do the trade in promotion, what does it tell you the value is of the one you want to trade in?
Chatting Verizon again. This is what i'm getting so far:
I hope that works for you. They told me on the phone that if I did it that way I would only get the normal trade amounts in a lump sum. <$300 per iphone 6.
I spoke to several folks on the phone and ended up with the trade in supervisor. They said a cancel/reorder was the only way to get this special trade in offer. I did get a trade in confirmation email for both my phones after the reorder stating the $650 each in monthly payments.....
