How long did you have to wait on hold for?
[doublepost=1473434321][/doublepost]
Let us know what they say. Seems several are getting different stories. I'm fixed now, but a much longer wait....

I'm chatting as well, and now they're saying I'm going to have to re order.

I just again talked to a Rep on the chat and he told me to call, get the $650 promotion added so that I won't have to cancel my order. I am sure he is wrong since you all are telling me something different from your experiences. I will let you know how it goes.

Waited on hold about 15-20 minutes.
Then was on and off hold for 30 minutes.
Then they verified my number and the trade in supervisor called me back about an hour later.
another 20 minutes to lose my place in line......:-(

Phone rep says this is a "special" trade in and they have no way to just apply it....

Does this work if one has a T-Mobile iPhone 6? I currently have a Verizon SIM on mine and estimated trade-in credit on my upgrade page is $0 so I'm reluctant to pre-order the iPhone 7 right now. Also, is it available in-store? That might be safer...

You guys are right. I finally re ordered and now it's straightened out.

This offer is very confusing to me. I ordered three phones right around midnight last night using the iOS My Verizon app. Two of the phones I was upgrading we did monthly payment plans and got the $650 credit for each correctly. The third phone is for my mom, and she wanted to pay for the phone up front. It still offered me the $400 trade in credit for her old iPhone 5.

After I placed that order, the Verizon website had some more info on the offer on their landing page https://www.verizonwireless.com/landingpages/iphone/

It says, "Here’s how to get your iPhone 7 for $0: 1. Buy a new iPhone 7 or iPhone 7 Plus with monthly device payments."

Ok, so the first step wasn't even followed yet I got the promotional credit.

Also in the fine print it says "$649.99 on device payment req'd. Less $650 trade-in credit, ends when balance paid; 0% APR. Line must be active for 2 yrs for full credit."

Ok, what balance? If it is for the new iPhone 7 I just bought, it will have no balance on day one. Would that mean I'd get nothing for her trade-in? If they mean the balance of the $650 trade-in credit, then I should be good as long as the line is active for 2 years. It does make me wonder about the other two orders, do you lose the credit if you pay it off early? Maybe I was up too late last night...

I don't think people are understanding this $650 trade-in correctly (which Verizon hasn't done a good job of explaining).

It's a 2 year device payment plan. If you want the base IP7 32GB ($650), you will be charged $27/month x 24 months and then given a $27/month credit if you trade in an IP6 or IP6S (or the plus models). That's $650 in credits if you keep the iP7 for 24 months.

However, if you upgrade to the new iPhone 8 (or whatever it's called) next year in 2017, your monthly $27 credits will end. You will mail in your iP7 (that's how the 2 year device payment plan works) and you will then start paying $27/mo for the base iP8 (or more depending on the capacity, etc.).

So it's really "up to $650" in credits. You can't expect Verizon to give you $650 for a used/old phone AND give you a free iP7 that you can do whatever you want with without being under a contract. They are not giving you something for nothing.

I'm pretty sure I'm right about this. Sadly, it sounds like Verizon is misguiding a lot of people and many of their reps are uninformed about how this really works and what they should be communicating.

Sigh. had my 7 in rose gold and my 7+ in matte black ordered by 03:10. 09/16 delivery. Something messed up and I only got confirmation on one $650 trade in, not 2. (2 year old 6 and 6+)
Called Verizon and something in my account was totally borked. They showed a trade in, but not for the line i got confirmation on.
Only way to fix was to cancel the order and reorder....
Now I am at 09/28......
So much for getting up at 03:00....
I did get $25 for my trouble.....
My trade in receipt shows my wife's number for some reason as well. I'm not going to bother with it. A trade in is a trade in. And how they are doing these days the phone price is more independent than before.

It's funny because it shows my wife's number on an iPhone 6 trade in. But she doesn't even own an iPhone 6....

That's how I understood it as well. As long as you keep the phone for 24 months they'll give you $27.08 per month for it.

Iphone 8 will be out in 2 years, just like all their previous phones come out every 2 years. Next year will be iphone 7s.

I am keeping my iphone 7+ for two years for the duration of my contract, just like I have for all my previous phones. And then when the 8 comes out, I am due for the an upgrade. So, in my situation, I would be using all $650 of those credits.

Yea honestly I'm not going to worry about that far in the future. Giving apples recent tract record I doubt the iPhone 7s will be that exciting. And if it does. I'll just buy it again.

I understand perfectly well. The language is actually fairly clear. Most people's comprehension however, it's likely a lot of folks will be unaware of the gotchas.

I think it's an ingenious way to keep people locked in for 2 years without actually calling it a contract. Still, if you're likely to stay with Verizon for the 2 years regardless and not upgrade to the new model next year (or just plan to pay in full or something), it's a good option to save money on the iPhone 7/7+ right now.

It is not a gimmick or gotchya at all. Like I said, I have kept all my cell phones for two years and have always been with Verizon. I am not jumping ship, and iphone 8 won't be out until september of 2018. So, there is no gimmick and I would be credited with the entire $650.

OK, just for the sake of clarification, in my example/explanation above, when I said "iPhone 8", I was referring to the next iPhone that will be released in 2017 (probably around September 2017). Most of the rumors are that people are expecting Apple to do away with the iPhone 7S and have a MAJOR redesign this time next year (in line with their 10 year anniversary of the iPhone) and to just call it iPhone 8. Of course, this is all speculation, but that's what most people are expecting since the iPhone 7 uses the same body style as the 6 and 6s.

Anyway, that doesn't really matter. The point I made still stands. The $650 in trade-in credit is "up to" $650 and is applied as a $27/mo. credit to your 24 month device payment plan for the iP7. If you upgrade before your 24 months are up, you must trade in your iP7 and your monthly credits end at that point. That's how the device payment plan works.

That is my understanding. They are, for a lack of a better term, locking you into Verizon and not necessarily the phone. You can still trade it in before 24 months is up but you won't get the full realization of the credits.

Yes, that is true. Pretty much it takes 24 months for the credits to spread itself evenly on your bill. Otherwise if you upgrade or cancel beforehand I'm sure they'll want the remaining balance.

I am worried. I am going to give Verizon a call shortly. I was not offered this trade in offer when I pre-ordered the iphone 7. Verizon site during the pre-order said that I will only get $36 for my flawless iphone 6. Contacted a representative through the chat box and they confirmed that I will only be getting $36 for my iphone 6.

Was your device fully paid off ? That could be the issue. I believe it is only for phones that you own outright.

Not leaving VZW, so this is great for me.

All I know is I got a $650 discount on the newest iPhone...which is at least $150 more than I would have received for my 6S on the market. WIN/WIN for me.

I called Verizon and also had to cancel my order to take advantage of the promotion. Re-ordered with the promotion and everything is good now.

When I called, I asked the same thing. The rep checked with her supervisor who said that it wasn't necessary to cancel the order, it could be done when the new phone is received.
