I am starting to rethink this. My concerns are that I really don't trust Verizon if I have to mail in my phone. If I send them a perfect condition phone and they say it isn't... What recourse do I have? My local corporate store said they can't take my trade in on a preorder in store. They said launch day purchase possibly if the promotion is still going. They said even in store preorders must mail it in.

Next, I know I will trade next year. I could always swap things around with a different line on my account so I could still get the credits...Issue with that is some people have said that Verizon has told them that the credits follow the IMEI.

Can anyone find the full terms and conditions?

The small disclaimer on the Verizon website makes it seem you just need to keep the line active.

$649.99 on device payment req'd. Less $650 trade-in credit, ends when balance paid; 0% APR. Line must be active for 2 yrs for full credit. Trade-in must be in good working & cosmetic condition.

As far as the terms, I have no idea. I know I kept asking all of the verizon reps I chatted with about the trade in and the condition of the phone, and they said as long as the questions they ask on the site are good (as far as you check yes on everything) then you should be OK for the trade in.

My local store told me when I get my 7+ to bring the 6+ in and they would process the deal.

Corporate store or authorized retailer? I called the authorized retailer here and they said all trades have to be mailed in.

Another thought for me is that if the Best Buy trade in stays over $360 like it is now....I can use the gift card on the Nike Apple Watch preorder...that plus my $60 rewards pays for it

Rep told me I could upgrade with device payment even though I have a year
Left in contract. I would still be in contract until next year but have a device payment. Not bad my bill won't go up any with the promo. Guess iPhones are the exception here

So they're going to let you do the $650 trade-in promo even though your current iPhone is on a DPP with 1 year left and not paid off entirely yet???

That's contradictory to several other reports that devices must be paid in full. This sounds sketchy.

Well it seems like a lot of reps are unsure of the info just yet so that's why I personally chat with multiple and see if what they're saying is the same across the board.

The deal itself can't be sketchy because along with Verizon, AT&T and T-Mobile are offering the same thing.

That's what I'm saying. Most of the facts that we've pieced together have been independent verified by several reps.

In this instance though--not having to pay off a DPP before utilizing this promo--I'm doubtful because several have independtly reported reps repeatedly saying DPP's must be paid in full.

Yeah, definitely. I have heard the same thing too. I kept asking them about the trade in and the condition and I was like "As long as it meets the criteria that was stated on the trade in form it should be fine right?" And all of them said yes so I knew that was right.

As far as this issue goes, I think the poster who was told that info should chat another rep and see what they say.

I really wouldn't worry about Verizon cheating you. There's no way to prove it, but I doubt they are going to take your phone and pretend it was broke when it wasn't. That's a guaranteed lost customer and all so they can turn around and flip that phone. Doesn't seem worth it.

As for conditions, you have to keep that iPhone 7 linked to the same phone number for all 24 months in order to keep the credits running. I'm taking advantage of this but will be doing a yearly upgrade next year. So I know the credits will stop after 12 months. But that's still $325, which is close to what I could get on the open market for my iPhone 6. So it's worth it to me.

Yes, this is a no brainier if you have a 6.

The line will remain active for 24 months on DPP....but I still don't know if I will have an issue switching the physical phone to another one of my lines.

But it on line 1 but use it on line 2. Verizon shouldn't care since you could lose the phone on day 2 and still keep service and DPP for 2 years.

Any luck finding terms?

So what do you think transferred means in:

If you cancel service, or if device payment agreement is paid off or transferred, trade-in promotional credits will stop.

So what do you think transferred means in:

If you cancel service, or if device payment agreement is paid off or transferred, trade-in promotional credits will stop.

It is simple. If you don't keep service with Verizon until the monthly credits have all been applied, you lose the ones remaining. IOW a 'contract' deal. And that includes doing the early trade up deal.

Just want to make sure..... For this deal to work, your existing device (example IP 6S) must be 100% paid off and NOT on any current DPP, correct???

I wouldn't worry about Verizon cheating you. I've sent in 8 phones through the mail in trade in and have gotten the right credit every time. You can record a video of the phone working and no cracked screen as you pack the box if you are really paranoid.

I am pretty sure you can move the phone to other lines or even sell it as long as you keep the dpp payment active. In other words, as long as you don't cancel the line or upgrade the line before two years, you will get the credits.

Verizon dpp payments stay with the line regardless of what phone you have. For example, one of my lines has dpp for an old lg G4 from 15 months ago. I've sold the phone and I've had 2 other phones on that line since then. Verizon just has these terms to stop flippers from getting a new phone and cancelling the line since technically there is no contract.

It makes no sense that Verizon tracks by phone imei because you could lose or break the phone.

You are correct. I had to cancel my pre-order since 2 of lines were not paid off and then I paid off both devices and then pre-ordered again. You must Pay off the devices 100% before you pre-order or you won't get the 650 trade in promotion.

Thanks for the confirmation. This deal/promo is a no-brainer for anyone with the older 6 or 6+ or a newer device already paid off (or more than 70% paid off).

The only "catch" I see is that you will lose about 1/2 of the credit if you decide to upgrade to the IP8 next year since you are opting out of the 2-year promo agreement early.

My questions is - if you do this deal, do you still need to pay per device per month. Remember the old plans where we had to pay 20-40 bucks per device on plan. Since this seems contract based, I wonder if this is a catch. I am on ATT and its 180 for 4 devices + monthly fees if you finance....if I do this, I won't be paying monthly fees since the bill credit takes care of it, so is it just 180+ tax, or is there some catch with also paying a device fee to use on the plan.

Old way:
4 phones was 120 + 40 per phone to activate on plan = 280
new plan is 180 + finance fees

this is 180 + 0 since the finance is fully paid for by trading in device....is there a hidden fee to add the 7 to the plan

This has been answered and is the print, but I'll answer again for you.

The way it works is that on your bill every month you will still see the DPP (let's say $31). Then you will also see the credit applied from your trade in.

If you purchased the 32GB, it's a net of $0. 128GB comes to $4, and 256GB is around $8.

Make sense?
