I just got a comparable email except mine says 10/16...I got a confirmation email at 3:16 am Friday...I have a feeling this has something to do with the gold...yet page still says 9/24 and rep said things were good to go for 9/24 so who the heck knows...if that does become new date, definitely seeking a waiver of upgrade fee. Unreal...
 
10/16 also order confirmed 3:15 or so.

Order has 1 16gb silver, 32gb space, and 32gb gold. FWIW

My problem with this whole thing is when I called about the plan the put the phones on the guy said it would be best to switch the family contract now so I did. I lost my unlimited data and went to 8gb plan. I would have waited till october to do that for the next billing cycle. I can wait no problem, but I lost my unlimited data luxury and now am paying more for my plan.

I got the same message just now but you know what? I'm cool with it, I can wait.

My issue is they know they could not fulfill the order...Apple had the ability to adjust the ship date prior to completing the order online. Verizon knew it could not deliver so it waits until end of business day to alert its customers...classy move.
 
Same thing here. Beyond pissed at this point.

It's not the gold. I have gold and was told 10/7.
 
Ordered Gold 64 and Black 32 (with no upgrade discount), confirmation email sent at 12:02am. Said ships Sept 24th. Received email saying it would not ship until October 16th.

Extra BS that they didn't ship the black phone separately, since those were plentiful.

Just called Verizon and cancelled. I have more faith that an order placed today with Apple will ship before the 16th.

Couldn't be more pissed at Verizon for lying to me.

Obviously they knew before tonight they would be able to ship my phones for 3 more weeks, and I would have cancelled and ordered from Apple 5 days ago, and been in front of millions of orders that came in since then. Now I am at the back of the line. Thanks for nothing Verizon.

They have told me 4 different ship dates since Friday. Their customer service doesn't have a clue.

3 different "managers" told me that it was DEFINITELY shipping today and not to worry. Now I get an email at the end of the business day stating that it won't ship until 10/7 - which is most likely also BS as it m,ight ship even later than that.

Pathetic customer service from Verizon and I will be cancelling tomorrow and leaving them for good at the end of my current billing cycle.

They're not getting another dime from me as a customer. They played this iPhone 5S pre-order thing out piss poorly and it's going to cost them 1 customer w/ 3 lines on the account.

Again a big FU to Verizon!

Most likely going to T-mobile.

In concept, it sounds great, but my experiences with T-Mobile on my 5 have been much less than desirable. Obviously a lot has to do with location, but Verizon and AT&T are rock where I live, but I wanted a cheaper alternative.

Let's just say I have a 5S with VZW on order.

I am soooo surprised that I am getting mine even though I feel I ordered later than the others who ordered sooner than me.

I was at Verizon today and someone ordered a gold 32gb, the salesperson told them it would ship by Nov 11th.
 
These emails are really weird. Mine is a gold 32gb with confirmation email at 3:16am eastern, and mine is scheduled for delivery tomorrow. But yet some of these people ordered earlier than that and are getting the delay email. It doesn't make sense, how are they choosing who is getting the shipments?

Yeah, that is relatively much later than others, myself included. I don't know. It's obviously not first-come-first-serve.
