What on earth are you doing to reach that?
Watching Netflix here or there? Streaming a little music? Using news apps for offline reading?
20gbs is a LOT but in todays world, it is not unheard of with what is out there
What on earth are you doing to reach that?
- Lower "entry point" to service ($15)
Yep. This is beautiful. I just wish ATT would get rid of the grandfathered unlimited plans to get rid of the leeches who are slowing down the network for the rest of us and making our prices higher by using their phones as home wireless hotspots and the like.
Once you use it, you can't live without it. It's a great feature....and all of you Verizon users have been left in the dark by your leader (Verizon). How can anyone argue against having it as an option? You Verizon Fanboys amaze me.
"Leeches?" That's a little harsh. We were grandfathered in because of customer loyalty and it's a smart business practice on AT&T's part. Too bad you didn't get in on that deal.
The exact same thing could be said about unlimited data:

Personally, I'd take unlimited data over simultaneous voice/data ANY day of the week.
Go Verizon! This is great. Competition is just what the iPhone needs!

i have the unlimited $30 plan on verizon with my blackberry, and its truly unlimited. i hit 500 gb last month with no penalties.
it really shouldnt come as a surprise, they got the iPhone locked in and they know people will pay to be able to use it on their network so its a win-win for them and they laugh all the way to the bank.I am actually disappointed that Verizon isn't being more aggressive in their pricing.
I've been hoping for some real competition between the two and so far I haven't seen any yet.

Most of us iPhone 4 users are tied down in a contract so it doesn't matter much yet... After we are free to leave the competition will heat up a bit

The companies see the huge financial gain in putting small data caps on the public for overages & fees that they need for a better bottom line
folks, they updated the article. Verizon says it's a temporary offer and that they will be switching to tiered service in the not too distant future.
Presently, the networks complain about the high data demands of a few
applications (e.g., watching/sending video) and a few users. They use
this as an excuse to place caps on data plans, so they will not have to
serve those applications/users (or they'll garner a huge fee for doing so).
Ultimately, they'll rebuild their networks to more easily support those
few applications/users while offering flat-rate unlimited data plans.
I'l never understand how people can switch to Verizon's network. I have to multi-task for my business by running apps, texting, surfing the web, all while being on the phone. How on earth are people going to be productive on Verizon's network?

So, really not that much different than AT&T

Unlimited on all the carriers has a "cap". They don't shut off your data at the cap but they state in your contract that can impose overage fees if you go over it.
iPhone on AT&T was the only phone on the network that has it's own TOS and nowhere in there does it state there is a softcap after going over the 5GB "softcap" because there isn't one.
Now AT&T won't have to compete.
