I think this is the slowest I've ever seen a Verizon forum the day before pre-orders go live...
It has been quite slow, that’s for sure. Maybe more will chime in after they’ve ordered?

So I typically preorder with Verizon with the payment plan thing they do. This year I’m buying outright, can I still do it with Verizon? I’m just use to always preordering with them but can’t remember if you can buy it outright during preorders. As a side note I’m going for the pro in silver. I wasn’t going to but my husband wants my xs lol!
I’m pretty sure that you can buy it outright from Verizon as well.

Good point. Hope it's not indicative of overall slower sales? Maybe people w/ exhaustion of 3 year sin a row of $1149 iPhone purchase or many who are keeping their 10 and 10S a year longer waiting for the 5G version?

Because of the massive changes coming to the 2020 versions, I believe you're right about waiting. I just do it every year because if I'm paying a payment every month, might as well upgrade, right? lol. But I went into this one thinking it'll be pretty easy to get on release day for that 2020 reason.

You can definitely buy it outright! It's just one of the options instead of trading-in or doing anything like that.

I wonder how the new preorder time will effect everything especially with Verizon. Can their servers handle it? If it happens not to be slow

Ok awesome! I have my Apple Card as my default for Apple and iTunes, I don’t want to change it to my debit card for the phone purchase through Apple. So I think it would be easier through Verizon. Who knows maybe Verizon preorders will start early like they have in the past? Anyone remember that haha

Their promo says “up to $450 off a new iPhone trade with select trade-in.” Not sure what device gets $450, probably XS Max. I’m already on a payment plan so I just get the new phone and they ship it and an empty box and I give them back my old iPhone. 12 payments need to be made, but you can pay the difference if you want to upgrade early.

Okay, this is what I was going to do and I just want to confirm something. I got an XS Max on launch day last year and I've made 11 payments - my billing cycle ends on Saturday (or course). So, I can pre-order the 11 Pro Max tomorrow and just make that one extra payment and they'll let me do the trade-in? I hope so because that is my plan. :)

Thanks for the knowledge. :)

Good to be back. Been upgrading every year since the 6 came out. I have a XS Max in gold currently and going for the 11 Pro Max in gold. (Although the green is tempting.) I believe I will downgrade to 256 GB though. 512 GB has been way more than I needed haha

Use that Apple Card!! You get 3% daily cash back when you buy it using the Apple Card

Yep, you can make the 12th payment at checkout, I believe, along with taxes and fees associated with the upgrade.

I have gone through upgrading through Verizons monthly payment plans just because easy to get through Verizon. Any pros/cons as to why I should switch to iUP? I mean...doing another credit check as well sounds annoying? Verizon offers the same exchanging of device within a year as well.

If you are buying outright, you are going to absolutely want to preorder through Apple so the phone is unlocked and sim free.

If I'm joining the Verizon program for the first time do I have to trade in my old Iphone?

What are the advantages of these two things?

I plan on preordering thru the Verizon App tomorrow morning (!!!) my question is, is there an option to pick up your preorder from a b&m Verizon store? If so, which is a better option, store or mail? I'm asking because this year I will only have a couple hours window, after work on the 20th, before I have to go out of town for that weekend and I want to have my new phone when I hit the road. There has been an issue in the past with having someone home to sign for the mail option when both me and my wife both work during the day.

The biggest advantage of having an unlocked phone is flexibility. You can move to any carrier you please with your phone at any time. This is especially important for people that travel a lot of spend extended periods of time in other countries. They can just pop in a SIM card from a carrier in that country, get a short term plan from that carrier and keep it moving.

I always get mine mailed every year, but if I plan on being gone the day it's supposed to arrive, I just have it held at the shipping location to pick it up. I just hate going into the stores, always a madhouse.

If i remember corrrectly the only thing you have to do if pay the last payment on the phone. if you want you can have eveyrthing else get billed to your next bill.

I agree with others within this thread and others... This is the quietest I recall seeing the message boards leading up to preorders. This may really end up being a dud year for iPhone sales. It will be interesting to see what devices go into delayed shipping dates, if any.

Honestly excited for this "dud of a year", ship me my silver Pro Max on release day!

Excited to be back for a presale thread! It's been awhile. I'm going from 7 to a purple 11. I'm nervous about the 8am start time. I hope the site doesn't get overloaded.

So Device Dollars are no longer eligible towards Apple devices? If not, I may as well upgrade through Apple.

Where is the option to hold it at shipping location? I too will be away and i dont think they will ship it to the marriott im staying at.

Not sure where you herd this but i just called Verizon and cofirmed you can use device dollars for this pre-order

You need to call them or have an account with UPS.

Yeah, that is probably an option as well. I just don’t remember, because I was always trying to rush through the order process and get it done, lol.

Yes it will automatically tell you what you have to pay to upgrade “early.”
