Tim: I think you need to triple-down on security for the next iphone.

----------

Waiting for the obligatory irrelevant comment about the iPhone name in 3, 2, 1:

"Why is it called iPhone 5? It's probably iPhone LTE?"

You know it will be called The New iPhone

I told you Doubling down baby, that why we get rid of YouTube Apps.

Haha. Network companies aren't going to be happy with ANOTHER Apple SIM change. But it's good that Apple is allowed to control things like this. It really proves that Apple thinks outside the box. All that pointless plastic around the main SIM chip never really needed to be there.

Aplpe doesn't control this, it's an industry standard. Apple and several carriers made their proposals. Those proposals were edited and resubmitted until a final standard was approved. The final approved design was Apple's submission, but this in no way means they control it.

How times change. I remember back in the day when Apple would completely surprise us with each shiny new iProduct. We'd all ooh and aaah at the keynote, and the next day we'd gaze at the innards on some tear-down website.

Now it's all backwards. :)

Really only happens with brand new products that are not ready to launch. With the iPhones being ready to launch so quickly after announcement, parts are bound to leak before the announcement date.

You have 2 ways to watch this video on idevices . YouTube Apps and Safari. You will have only way to view it on iOS 6. Safari. Doubling down baby.

The YouTube App will still exist; it just won't come preinstalled on iOS 6. You will have to download it from the App Store.

Well thanks to Nokia and RIM, we now have a sim card that's approximately 2 millimetres smaller than the current micro-sim.

It's no wonder those types of companies are failing, they're just completely unable to make the bold moves and leave the past behind like Apple does.

Why do you say that? This nano-SIM was Apple's submission and the physical dimmensions matched the other carriers except for a single notch for using push-push style ejection systems.

 UGH! Seriously people, what is it about the naming you don't get?

It has to be called the "mini SIM tray" before it can be called the "nano SIM tray".

>end_sarcasm

Video is back up...they had some "technical difficulties". :)

Don't you just hate it when your server goes down and it only takes one video you uploaded, housed separately on youtube's servers, down with it?

The mini prefix comes before the micro prefix. Moreover, miniSIMs were a thing too. They are what we had before the iPhone 4 came out but were simplified to just SIM because not much attention had been paid prior to apple caring about them.

I seem to remember that Apple wanted it several millimetres smaller, but Nokia/RIM/someone was worried that it was too easy to put it sideways into a micro SIM slot

Of course, you have to worry about devices you've already sold if you don't plan on selling more...

After watching the video cant say I learnt any more than what we have seen already. Its a little bit smaller. Case closed.

Wow, all that hugh and cry over a new SIM standard and its just slightly smaller when you see it....worth it to Apple I suppose.
