I wish iOS had a more customizable home screen. I don't need to see 28 static icons. I would much rather have the bottom launcher with five icons and the rest of the screen available for active display showing weather, email headers, message topics, twitter feed, Facebook updates, or some other constantly changing information that I would like to keep up with and see at a glance.

Say what you will about Microsoft, but Live Tiles were the bee's knees. I don't understand why Apple can't do something similar to what MS accomplished over five years ago?
iOS is app-centric. Always has been.
[doublepost=1520668524][/doublepost]A cheap knockoff that just looks off. Can’t put my finger on it, but I always think android looks nasty.

But how do you send files from your phone to your computer and vise versa? Email? Google Drive? Ugh, those methods are so old and inconvenient.

And what happens when you're working on your computer and you get a text? Do you have to move to your phone in order to respond? Wouldn't it just be so much better if you could respond from the device that you're already on? When I'm working from my computer, sending texts with my keyboard is so amazing, and it's such a time saver.

I can't fathom why Android phone manufacturers still haven't figured out that these are amazing features. Why can't Android phones have anything similar to AirDrop and iMessages? It blows my mind that arguably Apple's best features still haven't been copied yet.

Maybe you should read more before making such silly statement.

Sidesync - does everything that you do with your phone from a PC/tablet including calls, text, fb, Whatsapp etc

File manager - map your home network drives as well as your cloud drives and use them as one.

Miracast - mirror phone screen on to TV without needing a ridiculous apple tv.

BT/wifi direct transfer - share any data/files without restrictions compared to iPhone.

Why do we continue to expect apple to listen or care? They're not out to listen or care, that's not their business. The two companies have amazing customer care only because the people working behind customer care are caring and keeps the company afloat. If you want the perfect phone, stay in your dreams or build your own company :D

I’m convinced that Apple engineers rarely receive notifications because there’s no way they can look at the notification system and say this is best for our customers. It puzzles me why they took away group notifications. It should be standard.

Been with iPhone since day one but switched last year to the S8+, largely because of the notch, the lack of headphone jack, fingerprint sensor and the sheer beauty of Samsung’s latest phones.

And with the ability to text, WHATS app, start or continue office documents and take calls all seamlessly and interchangeable from either my phone or my PC my day is much more productive and I get the beauty of the device.

When I spend a shed load of money I want style and substance.

Apple used to be about beautiful desirable devices but seems to have lost their way a little but the biggest fix Apple needs to address is lack of home screen customisation, iOS just looks outdated and boring imo, lacking the ability to customise. (I Believe this ability maybe coming next year though).

I know Apple likes to control the look and I understand why but they could sell so many launcher apps in the store if they finally allowed developers to do that. I can completely skin my phone any way I want and that’s a huge huge plus, for me.

I still have my iPad but it’s just a utilitarian device not a thing that screams beauty.

But that’s just my personal preferences, yours may well differ, we’re all different and with phones we’ve reached that stage of maturity in technology that choice can be about personal preferences.

For some of us, it’s not a matter that we prefer the Apple ecosystem, it’s a question of how entrenched we are in it and how difficult it is to extricate ourselves from it.
Surely the reason you're entrenched though, is because you prefer the Apple ecosystem(s)?

Can we please stop talking about Samsung? I have nothing against them, but I come to this particular website when I want to read about Apple products.

Oh the elitist snobbery of the brainwashed Apple fanatic.
It has nothing to do with being brainwashed.
If you own Apple stuff the iPhone X works smoother than a Samsung, and i'm some sort of an expert because i owned multiple iPhones as wel as Galaxy's.
Android and IOS and Mac OS have never been good friends and probably never will be good friends period.

So then every phone ever made has had a notch by your logic. IPhone, iPhone 3gs, iPhone 4, etc. SMH.

Is it just me, or do some people not get sarcasm???

All the whinging in the video about lack of touch id. Get over it... face id is way better overall.

The samsung face recognition is only 2D. Rubbish basically.

I honestly think: If you thought the S8 was better than iPhone X, you'll think the S9 is too. If you preferred iPhone X, then the S9 hasn't added enough to change your mind.

I keep saying that it is comparing an Apple (figuratively speaking
in this case) with an Orange.
Both Android and IOS have their pro's and cons.
My opinion? Own a PC?, go for the Galaxy because it works smoother. If you own a Mac or iPad, go for the iPhone X for the same reason.
Choose what suits you best to get things done and forget these comparisons.
Different types of OS, different ballgame.

Your entire phone should already be secure from others, so why do you need an extra layer on top?

There are something that i want to keep separate. E.g. photo i take using camera app in secure folder only shows up in Gallery app in secure folder and not outside. I can have separate email/fb/etc accounts set up too.

I escaped the Apple ecosystem last fall very successfully. Only my photos are still trapped in the cloud. Apple has very cleverly made it difficult to get them out. Pulling them out to my local library always stalls out after a couple of hours. Been trying for weeks.

I’m normally the agreeing clap-like-a-seal toilet brush every time you open your gloriously handsome mouth and post, and whilst I partially agree, I’m on an iPhone X and I think it’s utterly gorgeous — notch and all.

It’s like a distinguishing pimple on that perfect woman. Boy, I really do love this phone.

Hmm. Maybe you like it too much. Fawning over a phone seems a little out there.

Now that's exactly what i mean with IOS/MacOS and Android not being good friends and probably never will be.
As long as you stick to Apple everything goes easy-peasy but when you run to Android, for whatever reason, it's like opening Pandora's box.
Nothing seems to go easy because they are two completely different operating systems that use different file extensions to get things to work, and they are as incompatible as hell.
