Honestly my next phone very well might be.

So Apple will just keep it the same small size forever as to not hurt app developers? Where is the innovation in that.

I'm sure we'll get a 2272x1280 (1136x640 doubled) screen in a few years. :)

It's a wise decision IMO. Just get smaller tablet if you're into a larger phone or just get an android.
If Apple keeps the resolution the same forever they will lose a lot of ground long term.

A few years, the phone has been out for 6 already. The current form factor is outdated.

...

Great video. I'm preordering the next iPhone after it is announced, I'm excited for a larger screen.

Fake?

There was more bezel than screen size from the start,,, even the iPhone 4s doesn't have a *That* much space around the physical screen size.

It is going to take a hell of a lot more than a few extra pixels to fight the competition. The latest Windows Mobile and Android phones are making the iPhone look like old news..

I agree here...

The iPad 3 is an example.

Features alone are not only the key point to a phone.

Right, they should make it a triangular screen, then Apple would become truly innovative again!

Translation without the snark: just because something has been around for a few years doesn't make it "outdated" and in need of a change.

Re-enable snark: I want my new car to have five and half wheels--this four-wheel thing has been around for a century or more--it's so outdated! ;)

Am I the only one who hates this new iPhone?

With all the negative comments, evidently not!

Talk of a taller but not wider screen didn't thrill me initially, but I've kinda warmed to the idea. I'm still reserving judgement until September 12th, though.

RTP.

6 eh? This is year 5 and this will be the 4th form factor.

I can see September 12th coming and Apple will show this same 4 inch screen that is not wider. No one will complain right there and then at the keynote.

Since the iPhone has been playing the catch up game since forever, (look how long it took to get simple copy and paste) we'll have to hope to get a wider not just longer phone next year. iPhone 6 or what ever they choose to call it.

IF Apple if going to tout innovation how can they let Google out do them?

The OS hasn't really changed and the phone is still the basic form factor since the original. Where is the innovation?

Um, just watch the news cycle on Sept. 13 and tell me what is old news.

Sitting this iPhone 5 out also the 5x or whatever there going to call it , I've been an iPhone user since 2007 and a Mac user since 84 . I think this iPhone 5 will be a major fail !
Sorry Apple but to con people into buying another 4 or 4s
With a taller screen sucks !! ios is also getting tired !!

Samsung ate your lunch with the galaxy s3 !!

I'm just worried that the taller screen "is just it" (and a faster processor, and possibly another software gimmick like Siri). If it is, then there has been little progress since iPhone 4 and there is a need of change.

Since forever? What was the first iPhone catching up on? What was the Retina display in the iPhone 4 catching up on?

They started in first but they are getting lapped now.

If Samsung was not making money off of their phones Apple would have never of sued. Rather than innovate the new iPhone they are trying to take out the competition.

That's a LOT of icons on the home screen! Reminds me of my cluttered Windows desktop. I hope, after 5 years, Apple let's us arrange icons however we want.

What point, that Android is making better phones?
