WOW!!! A 4" SCREEN!!!

It's a darn good thing nobody has ever done THAT before!

Thank you Apple for once again pioneering with such revolutionary ideas!

I sure hope Samsung, or HTC, or Nokia, or Motorola, or any of the other major players who already have 4" screens don't attempt to copy this brilliant innovation! Boy oh boy, I'll sure be sorry for them if they do hyuk hyuk!

:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

What's the meaning of this post? What do you want them to do? Put flowers over it and serve you with gold?

It was 3.5", people asked for bigger. They gave you 4" and it appears you want a time machine. What's your problem?

...

There needs to be a compelling reason for the upgrade, and I don't think 4-inch would do it personally.

This alone, would mean Samsung would always be ahead, not to mention the small increase in resolution..

Disappointed in this... I really hoped Apple would have bout out something allot better than the Galaxy S3 in *every way*, in exactly the sam way Samsung did for Apple over the lawsuit.

I would switch, but i just have too many apps, ....... well 1 app is *grins*

but still, I like IOS :) I'm more excited about IOS6 than the new iPhone though.

My problem is Apple has gone from thinking differently, to thinking their **** don't stink.

They don't respect the market, they don't respect the competition and worst of all... they no longer respect us, the consumers.

Correct my if I'm wrong, but he probably meant that Apple have been quite slow in introducing a bigger screen and other companies had already been offering it.

I don't think Apple will push that. It's already in retina limit, increasing it more is pointless, we will not SEE the difference. Unless the next generation of human species have around 600 ppi retina vision. /JK

This is a myth that keeps getting repeated. I LOVE the Retina displays, but I can still see jaggies. Print resolution is still much higher. Steve Jobs predicted the current Retina resolution will do for several years, not forever.

I like the video mockup. Gives a tangible possible experience, until now was only something imaginary.
Great job!

Gold would serve me well... Gold plated Iphone ? Would interest anyone ? Then again... time machine wouldn't be bad either.

lol...

This is such nonsense. Apple hasn't changed their overall direction since Jobs' return, and they haven't changed their direction in any meaningful way since Jobs' passing.

great vid, Macrumours, I love that you even have some inoffensive, upbeat tune playing, like a genuine Apple ad!

And if you're just joining us, you've missed:

- the argument on "double down" or "double up" on secrecy
- SJ wouldn't have allowed these leaks
- I want the phone WIDER not just TALLER
- Apple is doomed

I think that's about it. Nothing to see here folks, move along.

:D

Hmmmm...I must have missed the part where Tim Cook came on stage and presented a 4" screen as an original and innovative idea by Apple. Got a link to that?

The new 1136x640 resolution is almost exactly the same 16:9 ratio found on many widescreen monitors and televisions. This will fit many widescreen movies more naturally.

Who is editing these text?!?

Gimme a break. Look at the bolded line. This is stupid Pro-Apple propaganda. For nearly a decade a dedicated TV screen supports native 720p output.

This means every Television has a resolution of more than 1280 x 720 pixels.

This is exactly the resolution most competitors offer in their smartphones. I know, this is a pro-Mac site directed at pro-Mac people, but why does Macrumors need to put out this stupid propaganda?!?

Big "what if" here but...what if you could choose certain games to stay the same size as the 3.5" screen and move the virtual controls into the letterbox area left and right? That way your thumbs aren't covering part of the screen while playing anymore.

However, I am looking foward to the larger screen and apps looking bigger and better within that area.

Just an idea. ;)

So by that logic both the Android phones and the iPhone were playing catchup. So what's your point again?
No they weren't. Android had a good notification system. The iPhone did not. The iPhone's sucked. I mean it when I say that the iPhone had the most horrid notification system available on a smartphone when the iPhone 4 came out.

What "issue"? You mean the issue that you want a bigger screen? There is no reason the iPhone "NEEDS" a bigger screen. You just want one. I direct you to the Galaxy SIII aisle. Why do you care what the iPhone has if it's not really the phone you're wanting?
It needs a bigger screen because the current screen is too small.Android commands a very large marketshare and that matters to web and app developers. When developing apps and mobile-minded websites, they'll be considering that in their designs. It's a simple matter of being competitive. You're fooling yourself if you think that Apple can remain stagnant and expect keep driving sales. I don't want a Galaxy S III. I want an iPhone with a bigger screen. I LIKE the iPhone, but that doesn't mean I think it does no wrong. I love the new integration with iCloud, it matches nicely with my retina macbook pro with mountain lion. I have a love/hate relationship with iTunes Match, and I continue to love Siri. See how I mixed in criticisms and praising of my iPhone 4s?

I've had a new iPhone every year since the 3g. I love it, and I use it so much that I can realize what I think works perfectly, and what I think needs improvement. I'm not such a biased fanboy as to think that any criticism on any part of the iPhone or iOS warrants that that person go out and buy into an entirely different OS just to avoid that flaw. I don't need you to tell me what phone to buy, I can do that on my own. I'll more than likely buy an iPhone, but that doesn't mean I can't hope for improvement.

I agree, that really is an ignorant comment for the article to make.
