Big "what if" here but...what if you could choose certain games to stay the same size as the 3.5" screen and move the virtual controls into the letterbox area left and right? That way your thumbs aren't covering part of the screen while playing anymore.

However, I am looking foward to the larger screen and apps looking bigger and better within that area.

Just an idea. ;)

I like the idea of having larger screen, but I would prefer also little wider. Honestly those people that belive that should be like a Samsung Note2, ... I think does not cover the needs for the 90% of the population.

On top who says that the iPad Mini would be able to make calls in the future?

Another question, how ends up the screen sizes disemination for all iOS devices?

Great idea for some games!

Who is editing these text?!?

Gimme a break. Look at the bolded line. This is stupid Pro-Apple propaganda. For nearly a decade a dedicated TV screen supports native 720p output.

This means every Television has a resolution of more than 1280 x 720 pixels.

This is exactly the resolution most competitors offer in their smartphones. I know, this is a pro-Mac site directed at pro-Mac people, but why does Macrumors need to put out this stupid propaganda?!?

:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

Ummmmm....they were referring to the aspect ratio.....720P is also 16:9. Are you really gonna cry over the screen being a little smaller?

I love people who tell you 'get out' when you express your opinion.

What JS82712 is telling you is "RESISTANCE IS FUTILE, you shall consume Apple products as they are, you shall not question the great Apple!"

What he should have said is 'Get a life' to you. Most people here are looking for Apple news and rumors, hence the site name. You are looking for a place to bicker because you like Andriod better, but deep down, know that Apple destroys it, otherwise you would go about your day like a normal person, or be on Andriod rumor sites. Thanks for reading :)

Steve!! Since when did you move to Florida?!

Well the Buddhist said he was a mid level angel in a parallel universe, and you heard that commercial for services for the elderly, 'Visiting Angels'. Where else you gonna find a place that has such a need then Florida with all their senior citizens in need of a mid level angel. :D

Either that or 'The Sunshine State' is code for, 'Since when did Heaven get THIS hot?!' -

...and that matters to web and app developers....

I thought what matters is what the consumer wants. If everything was build around what the developers wants then nothing would be sold! Consumers and developers tend not to see eye to eye.

I wonder if the scaling of non-native apps will be more in line with the way TVs can scale 4:3 sources by gradually expanding the source rather than just stretching everything the same amount.

I've purchased every single iPhone model immediately upon release. If the rumors are true, this is the first one that does not interest me. The taller ratio is just not as practical for most media. TV Shows, Books, and Photos are closer to the current aspect ratio and I'm not a big fan of movies with 16:9 ratio because it's too damn narrow. Just my opinion!

I hope you realize movies are 16:9 and a GOOD majority are even wider that that now. LOL Where are you living, the late 80's?

It's you who didn't read the text correctly! Perhaps you don't understand the difference between resolution and aspect ratio. MR said (the bolding is mine):

"The new 1136x640 resolution is almost exactly the same 16:9 ratio found on many widescreen monitors and televisions. This will fit many widescreen movies more naturally."

MR is saying that the new resolution produces an aspect ratio similar to the 16:9 ratio seen on HDTVs. Their statement had absolutely nothing to do with 720p display capability.

Wouldn't LTE be the reason you'd be interested, though?

I agree, that really is an ignorant comment for the article to make.

Ok... not to be sarcastic or nit-picky here, but you both realize there is a difference between the terms "resolution" and "aspect ratio"? What MacRumors posted is not propaganda or false... a 16:9 aspect ratio is 1.778, a 1280x720 resolution is 1.778, a 1136x640 resolution is 1.775... therefore it is almost exactly the same as a 16:9 aspect ratio. Tech terms and math, take note.

boring, ios is getting boring

Who is excited about the next iOS release, raise hands? [everyone raised hands, and the room is full of cheers]

Who is excited about the next Android release, raise hands? [no one raised hands and the room is silent]

No, ignorant is not realizing that 720p is also 16:9 which is what the article is saying.
720p is HD unscaled, HD sets sold are not downscaled, they are 720p not 640. Why would Apple say 640 is what television makers are selling?

my ideal iphone wouldn't be 16:9 or 4:3, but something custom inbetween, but overall, a bigger phone, nearer the size of the sIII. and eliminate the phone edges on the left and right side of the screen, so its Pure screen, and just aluminium top and bottom, like the imac.

A) Apple has said nothing
B) Nobody said 640 is HD. They said it's the same aspect ratio.

Is this guy serious? Apple has said NOTHING bolded important part for you to read 5 times.
