The "Space Black" variant depicted in the latest video does look darker than a typical iPhone 6s Space Grey unit,
No, it doesn't.

Is this just a case study in what people will believe if you tell them what they are seeing? Oh wait, that is every iPhone 7 article.

Sorry, but if that is the new back, it's FUGLY. That camera bump is worse than the iPhone 6s/6s Plus. The whole idea was to go thinner, yet, you don't have a camera that will fit as thin as you want to go, but you got rid of the audio port. Really? WOW. Still a no thanks on this one. I could care less about the antennas, as I always have a case on, so I don't see them anyway.

I'm sold, I think it looks good and I bet Apple will have no problem selling them. Some people complained about the way the iPhone 6 looked and they sold very well. I also think we will see other features that we don't know about, there is always something that is left until the last minute for us to here about, sometimes we don't find out until the actual keynote

When the first pictures of the iPhone 5 came out, I thought it was a step-back compared to the iPhone 4 design-wise, when looking at the fine details. The iPhone 4's camera hole was aligned with perfect symmetry in mind. Look at how the curve of the camera hole is equidistant from that of the phone's edge. One can tell Steve was very much around at that time. This kind of subtlety is what made Apple what it is (or isn't?) today.

At that time, I thought the iPhone 5's camera hole was somewhat sloppy in comparison.

Man, how much I did not see the slope waiting ahead...

But at least the camera is now aligned properly again...

Is there a reason they can't color match the antenna lines with the rest of the body of the phone?

Yes, becauase these are two different materials, each of which reflects light differently.

Minor aesthetic update with undoubtedly a bump in some hardware. Additionally, look for a feature or two that will be unavailable for previous iPhone models that install the new iOS.

Formulaic, and boring.

If the Space Black features the DLC coating that is virtually scratch resistant like on the black watch, that would be reason to get it does away with the need for a case.

Do they mean to tell that with all the billions they have in R&D there's no other technical solution for the antenna lines that looks better? I can't believe it...
God damn...ugly man :(

Depends on the new features? Don't you think there are a couple of features we don't know about at this moment? It happens nearly every year.

Here's my guess regarding iphone 7 and 8. Apple is well aware that people won't be interested in buying another S model for a second year in a row. Since the tech is not ready (OLED screen, integrated touch_ID) and they need to come up with something they will use pricing and apple watch to their advantage in order to keep people interested. Iphone 6s will receive a 200$ price drop instead of 100$, iphone 6 will be discontinued with the iphone 5s. Iphone 6 SE will receive a price drop as well. Iphone 7 will retail for 100$ less than 6s when it came out since R&D cost were quite low for this phone compared to Iphone 5/Iphone 6. They will also introduce a new version of Apple Watch which will double battery life thanks to 14nm and integrated GPS with less dependency on iPhone. Cheaper iphone + apple watch will keep the money flowing for Apple without crashing the stock. Secondly, I think Iphone 8 will be released in June 2017 since people will be more inclined to update sooner. Iphone 8 will feature OLED screen, A11 quad-core, integrated touch-id and massive design change.

What about when the iPhone 8 comes out? Will it go back up to their normal prices or stay $100 less than historical launch prices?

I still think people are underestimating the rumoured dual camera, it could be a big upgrade for people.

Not trying to cast aspersions, but as time goes on, it becomes more apparent of how amazingly inspired and influential Mr Jobs was in the innovation and design of product.

Along with Jonny I've, Jobs didn't do it all himself.

I have said it before and I will say it again, Tim Cook has outlived his term as CEO. Apple has stagnated
and ill say it again -- what absurd, utter nonsense. under Cook apple is bigger than ever, selling more units than ever, earning more profit than ever, and has higher consumer satisfaction ratings than ever. by every metric he is a success.

youre just whining because the new case of the next iphone doesnt look different. thats absurd. its childish. the iterative design approach apple has always employed isnt designed to make you feel good about yourself by giving you some visual status symbol.

phone nerds can whine about this all they like, but you represent an insignificant number of customers. the rest of apple's real market will love it and buy it. again.

They are probably testing different variations. I hope there is a space black- would be a better change of me upgrading in September.

These are MOCKUPS.

The absolute last thing you should be evaluating from mockups are small details like the antenna lines and exact colors.

True. But unfortunately many said the same thing during the run up of the iPhone 6. Many then also hoped the antenna lines would be thinner and less prominent. In the end, the final design was pretty much spot on to the leaked images.

I couldn't agree more! And by the looks of the leaks, iPhone 7 does look a little different, one of the antena lines has been removed, the headphone jack has been removed, it may be smaller and the camera lense are bigger. It's not the most dramatic design, but I don't think it needs to be. I think there are a couple of features that haven't leaked yet!

Apple are not the only ones to do this anyway, the Samsung Galaxy S7 looks the same as the 6 and the Note 7 will probably look the same. As far as Tim Cook is concerned, I think he's doing a great job, under Cook we have had more choices and some great products, iPhone 5S, iPhone 6, Apple Watch, iPad Air and iPad Pro!! MacBook 12" to name just a few!!

I pretty much made exactly this post when the iPhone 6 was nearing release, except back then I was saying "this can't be a real leak, Apple wouldn't place the camera there etc..." Nowadays it's not about excitement for the next great Apple design, it's preparing for the disappointment, the leaks help soften the blow so the final product feels less awful.
