I hope they update everything but the iMac G5 and the Airport Express. Why you ask? Because currently I have the most updated iMac (and I'd like it to stay that way for a little while longer), and I just bought a Airport Express after the Paris Expo thinking it wouldn't be updated

Oh I feel sick with anticipation! Here is Aus it will be 3am and I will sitting here on my Athlon, biting my fingern nails, waiting for a new powerbook release. I shall be camping out front of one of the Apple stores in Melbourne if there is an announcement. I just hope there is a powerbook update. EVEN IF IT"S MINOR!

I feel sick

Anyone have any reassuring words or evidence of a powerbook update?

Within the Next week is the last I heard, probably a quiet update on Tuesday the 18th

Only this: if there is none, then maybe the next update is so minor that it didn't fit the event well. So check back in one week! PowerBooks ARE due for one last PPC update, and the time is right.

Just thought I'd summarize.

People don't seem to understand that just because they don't have any interest in a product, that doesn't mean Apple can't/won't release it. For the millions of us worldwide who take public transport, or want to show digital home movies to the grandparents, or who want to keep the kids quiet, the video iPod is highly anticipated and will sell like hotcakes.

Many of us have no interest in high-end Powermac or PowerBook updates. That doesn't mean we're posting "You all are morons. The idea of a dual G5 Powermac is rediculous [sic]".

black and white

Hopefully we will also see shiny new black ipod shuffles.. the end of the Ipod U2 and a new black 30/60G ipod plus a new vpod with 3 new games for the ipods with widget support.

I hope Apple has struck a deal with the networks that would allow us to purchase Television program episodes from itunes. I hate VCRs but what if itunes could catalog the last 10 years of Television shows. Bye Bye Tivo hello vpod. My wife would love this. Instead of having to hunt down a missed episode of sponge bob square pants we just pay 1.99 and we can download it to the mac and then use the new airport wireles with video push to watch the show on the Tube.

Well, I sure feel like a dick-hole for buying this new 17" Powerbook 2 weeks ago...

If they come out with a dual-core one and it simply replaces the existing ones with the same price (most likely given Apple's past), then I really got screwed with an elephant's... you get the point.

I sure as hell hope that if they are comming out tomorrow than I can convince one of the salesmen at the local Apple store in allowing me to "trade-up" to the new one, however I severely doubt it.

I have a headache from reading the articles about this event. Video ipod, no video ipod, powerbooks, no powerbooks, powermacs, no powermacs... I usually really look forward to these announcements, but for some reason this time I just want to get it over with so I can move on with my life!

Though updated powerbooks sure would be nice.... :p

I read earlier that PB's won't be going dual core, just SLIGHT speed bumps probably maxing out at 1.8ghz (MAYBE 2.0ghz). I'm assuming you have the 1.67ghz Model. I have the 15" Version of it and its a great machine just be happy with what you got and start saving up for the Intel Macs.

you know whats gong to end up happening with these video ipods right? their not going to sell after a while. so many people have a psp, ds, or ipod linux with video capability already on their ipod photos. you can even watch movies on a gameboy micro with play yan. there is really no need for it unless you have a 4th generation with a black and grey screen. who wants to watch music videos all the time aswell as movies. two thirds of the time unless your on a trip, you not even going to be using it for video capability. unless your in college where your in a class with 50+ students and you cant get caught withe headphones on, your going to get caught. if anyone here is in highschool or middleschool, good luck trying to hide it if a video ipod is released. the most stupid thing about all this is that just because it says One more thing on a card where the background is a red curtain, doesn't have to mean it's relating to movies. i have s velvet red curtain just like it at the major college auditorium on my campus. it can be for anything but the fact that people just assumed red curtain which used to be used for movies which is not true at all (myself being a film major taking film history currently) means a video ipod is rediculous. yes there probably will be some type of iPod, powerbook, and powermac update. if anything the iPod update will be the biggest, being a smaller, and new colored ipod. the powerbook and powermac updates will defiantley be small. there is no need for a major update now especially with design. at most they will be speed updates, along with a possible video update. actually i wouldnt be suprised if they did something with the screens or graphics cards of the powerbooks, which isnt that big of an update anyway. lets think steve said the intel where going to come out starting mid to late 2006 and everything would be on intel hopefully by 2007. what makes you think their ready to put intel chips in powerbooks now? especially with the new yonah chip sereies amongst others that they are making for laptops. my othe question for you all is why would they do it now? he only anounced this a few months ago. did you really expect the first mac's with intel chips this fast? i sure didnt. they earliest is obviously MWSF. so people stop and think for just a moment before thinking its going to be a major ipod, powerbook, or powermac update.

Wow. man, do everyone a favor and break a long post like this into paragraphs. I got tired of reading 1/4 way through...

Things I'd rather see tomorrow than a video ipod:
1) New PBs (even though my 15" PB is only a few months old)
2) New PMs
3) Apple phone (I know it won't happen tomorrow)
4) Full-feature Apple PDA (I know it's not gonna happen)
5) 80 GB color ipod with gapless playback and no video
6) Mac mini upgrade
7) etc

The idea of a video ipod is totally unappealing to me.

Is this a computer company or a media player company? I appreciate what the iPod has done for this great computer company. But, if there is not a serious Powerbook update tomorrow I will be pretty upset.

Yeah and I bet Steve and company really care about how you feel. :)

  Well... tomorrow may make it official. Apple is no longer a computer company but a sony want to be. The powerbooks should of had a nice update months ago, everything needed is out there. If they are not updated, one has to wonder what Apples intentions are. I have heard all the talk of how sweet they are now, but that is just rationalizing to avoid the fact that they are TOO long in the tooth.

Steve Jobs release the updates!!

As far as an ipod 'video' is concern - I think the market will be very limited. If that is the 'one more thing' - I think it is a waste of time. Just another revision of an ipod like the ipod photo. Hopefully they will release a surprise tablet, media center - ANYTHING other than just an 'video' ipod.

I hope Apple remembers where it's roots are... :( :(

Thank you for your post. I am in 100% agreement with you!
I am so tired of just hearing Ipod announcements. I am tired of seeing Apple put too much emphasis on this TOY. Come on, I know it's a cash cow for Apple, but as you said Apple needs to go back to it's roots and kick ass with a great update for the PowerMac and PowerBook.

Video ipod even thought it could be cool, who really will care about it. It's just another toy, just like the ipod photo. Not many people will use it.
The current ipod line up is great, not the same can be said about the professional line up of computers.

Think Secret should be ashamed of changing their minds so many times in the past week. That just tell you they don't really know any inside information. They are just covering their ass.
I really look forward to have Steve kicking their ass tomorrow and announce something new alongside with PM and PB updates.
;)

Well, he should.
The professional folks that buy PBs and PMs as well as Imacs are the most loyal Apple costumers.
Now Apple are selling millions of Ipods, but if one day Apple misses the boat in making them so amazing all the PC people who buy most Ipods will move to the next cool thing and forget about Apple. Meanwhile we the loyal Apple costumers that spent money on Apple during the Gil Amelio's days will continue to support it.
So I say to Steve, keep us happy with great computers.
