Still fake.

The Firewire 800 does it in. Why on earth would the Mini have it and not the MacBook?

And if they're waiting this long on a refresh, we're gonna see something more than just a couple different ports. (And the mini DVI + mini DisplayPort is absurd.)

I disagree , Mini is a desktop so maybe that's why the FW800 is in could also be something to do with the massive backlash over removing it from the MB.
just a thought.

I'm a little dubious about that power button.... It looks like it protrudes, curved outward. Most of Apple's power buttons are flat/flush (Mac Pro, MacBook) or even slightly curved inward (iMac).
Isn't the power button on the current minis curved outward?
I was just about to mention that yes mini's do have outward buttons as opposed to the flat ones.

Then that leads me to suspect that this is just a current mini, modified to look like a new metal design with new inputs.

Fake.

Why would there be five USB ports on a starter mac, while the big-man mac pro has five. Doesn't add up.

Not a fake - probably prototype.

It's probably a prototype unit that Apple sometimes ships to testers.

This however does not mean it will ever be available to purchase.

Don't get excited!

The shadows for the USB ports are on different angles as he rotates it. It looks like they may be uneven. Obviously a fake ;)

Looks totally fake you can see the macroblocks and the mega pixels.

Meh, fake.

just a few to highlight... the 'blocky' look is because the FPS for compressed video is around 15fps. smooth video is 24/25fps.

seriously, its people like these who just want to put people down makes me sick of the lack of respect this forum has.

I can't tell if you're joking or not...

I think it's hilarious. Hilarious if it's fake, kudos if so, hilarious if it's real and there's so many calling it a fake. I think it's a fake, but I'd love it to be real.

have you seen the inside of the new Macbooks?! There is literally no room to put firewire in.

http://www.ifixit.com/Guide/First-Look/MacBook-Unibody/589/2 Look at those, mainly step 11..

Not changing the external case of a device is what it takes for you to lose "faith" in a Apple?

What a day in your life must be like...

Ok, I don't get THIS attitude from a lot of people. What do you want? A SEX button? I'm not certain there are plenty of better designs you can make for a low end mini-computer... should it be shaped like a flower? Come with a propellor on top for kicks? Maybe look like an old radio?

Whatever the mini becomes, it's going to be a minimalist box with a few outputs on the back. It won't dance, it won't sing, but it'll attach to a monitor and let you run Apple OS and other programs.

Geez people, what's your problem???

A) What I said is an exaggeration
B) Regardless of how low-end the Mini is, it deserves to at least be updated enough to be sellable. Adding a USB and Display connector isn't going to cut it. Combining the video with the other 'leak' says that the new processor is 2GHz, which is exactly the same as the current one.

I'm not saying I hate Apple and I think I'll hold off on the sex button, but my frustration is with Apple's neglect of it's staple desktop computers and exclusive focus on iPhone & iPod lines while trying to be the "decider" about what is 'in' and what is 'out' in the entire computer industry. (cough Firewire cough cough)

Between Firewire 800 and USB ports, do low-end models have to have fewer ports than higher-end models? I don't think that's a requirement set in stone. The product line doesn't have to be a perfect pyramid where one model clearly supersedes another. Besides, perhaps the next Mac Pro refresh will add more USB ports, although Apple may think that 5 is enough and they might be right.

For Firewire 800, the MacBook doesn't have it because it's current design doesn't have room for it. Could Apple have design the MacBook differently, perhaps, but they probably felt the form factor was more important than a Firewire 800 port. In the case of the Mac Mini, there is room for it. Should Apple simply refuse to add a Firewire 800 port even if there is room, just because the MacBook doesn't have it. If Apple did that, people would then be complaining about the lack of Firewire.

Hahahahahah You still believe that? You can always redesign these things. FireWire was not taken out because it was necessary.

I agree with him, it's tight in there for real and probably no way they could have even stuck a full sized Display port in there let along Firewire....

My gripe is that Apple didn't have to make the books any thinner, but people that d!ck around with there machines are rejoicing at the lack of features, so Apple is happy.

Alright, let's see a video of it hooked up to a monitor and actually running. A video longer than 5 seconds. If it's real, why make such a short video that tells us nothing?

My ~3 year old Intel mini has 4 usb ports on the box itself, last years iMac only has 3. What's your point?

My point is homie that its not apple's style do that sorts of stuff. Look at the new macbooks and macbook pros, for an example

Somewhere At One Infinite Loop....

The AppleSquad Avengers, Steves personal security force, are running around trying to match the "fingerprint" of that faux wood grained desktop....

How interesting :)

I personally believe its a fake, but then again, I don't believe in something unless it has been officially announced :\

I think so too. Firstly they don't show the thing in action. They have a new Mac Mini but all we have seen is a crappy low-quality phone picture and a video of someone rotating a box around.

Also doesn't look right. Can't put my finger on what exactly, something about that metal bit and the power button.

Nope.

why in the hell isn't something like this a reality

This is good logic.

Okay, here's how I see it.

It has been three days since he originally posted the first picture.

If Apple legal hasn't gone after all of us sites that even HAVE the pictures, then Apple doesn't care.

Because it isn't what they're doing anymore.

Maybe that's what they want you to think <_<
