FYI be careful of the vented N95 masks, they are not designed for healthcare use and can be a risk factor for a few different reasons.
Right, that's part of the point I was trying to make. The media, and thus the public, latched onto "N95" early on (at bit like how some early computer intrusion was described to a reporter as being done by a "hacker" and now "hacker" is synonymous "computer criminal"). The vented N95's used for construction and painting and such are not suitable for healthcare use, and the vents make them worse than a homemade cloth mask for pandemic use. The "surgical N95's" are what healthcare uses, if I understand correctly, which have a different shape and no vent. And then, they require proper fitting.

Seems someone is upset with my freedom of choice.

I’m not flipping out because you’re wearing a mask.....why are you flipping out on a long diatribe against me?

Because we're living in the middle of a pandemic. His freedom of choice protects you, but your freedom of choice could hurt him.

Wear a mask. It's only temporary, and it's for the good of all those around you.

Edit: Apparently a moderator had an issue with me calling out this person for the age they were acting. Matters of public health aren't worth kid gloves.

Unfortunately the reality is that plenty of people don't really care pretty much about anyone else (even if they say they do, and even if caring doesn't even really take much).

NOT Apples Design, on the market for decades!

Ya, but look how thin the Apple mask is! And next year it’ll be even thinner! (Although they really should keep it the same thickness and just give it longer battery life)

THIS VIDEO IS COMPLETE RUBISH

This is not Apples new take on mask. This is a standard design, on the market for 100 years... it's called a "fold flat".

3M and other companies are selling them.

For example: https://www.3maustria.at/3M/de_AT/u...ikelmaske-06910-/?N=5002385+3293076358&rt=rud

The sides are different, the nose is different, the chin area is different, and from what I can find it doesn't look like it's washable. You just keep reusing it, and hope it isn't cross contaminated. There are other differences, but are slight.

And this way Apple gets to use their own sources for materials, and doesn't have to risk their stuff getting hijacked and sent who knows where. It makes sense for them to do it themselves.

And what ever happened to the Apple Face Shield? I thought it would THE THING to wear by now. Odd that they don't mention it.

It’s freedom of choice. I choose not to wear it, and if you’re wearing one - I frankly don’t care. You’re free to wear one, just as I am free to not.

Many have coronavirus and don't know it (asymptomatic).

The thing is, that the mask is not to protect you. It's to protect others FROM you.

You are in fact "exercising your freedom to choose" to endanger those around you, which you are NOT in fact free to do so.

It's the equivalent of walking around pointing a loaded gun, with the safety off, finger on the trigger, at everyone you come into close contact with.

So please, do us all a favor and holster your mouth AND nose when amidst the public and particularly when entering any enclosed space shared with your fellow citizens.

Unless you're a terrorist and/or a psychopath and don't care how many folks you inadvertently infect, thus this whole post is moot.

Sad that we live in a time where something as innocuous as wearing a mask is politicized.
Given all the flak this post has gotten, I'm gonna go on record to say I agree with you and share your disappointment.

I also noticed that perhaps everyone raging against it missed the fact that this is politicized at the NATIONAL (or perhaps even global) level and the politicization is not limited to MacRumors forums.

So I'm going to amend your quote and say:

"Sad that we live in a time where something as innocuous as wearing a mask, which is meant to prevent others from being infected with one of the deadlier diseases in recent history, is politicized at ANY level of society."

I swear, sometimes I feel I've been living in an episode of The Boys taking place in Lovecraft Country for as long as I've been in the US.

But man, especially this year it seems the whole WORLD has gone crazy with politically-charged hate.

Jesus.

Yawn. I’ll do as I wish, and you’ll respect that.

I mean, just look at your post. A perfect example of intolerance, politicization, against my choice.

Just as I respect people who are wearing masks (without going on a long diatribe attacking their choice with terrible analogies), you should too.

Corona isn't gone, so I think that we are all stuck with masks in public for like a year, I suppose.

In the USA, that is ;)

I'm in Australia and haven't had cases in my city for more than 2 months (the cases we had were people in isolation who had just returned home). Masks aren't mandatory here.

Sure we're lucky (and could need masks any day now) but it's important to remember that it's particularly bad in the USA right now (other countries have it better). Hope things get better for you guys sooner rather than later!

There's a difference when someone's choice impedes on that of others.

You're completely missing the point, and apparently on purpose. Your choice puts people in harms way. Why would you do that? Do you not have any concern or respect for your fellow citizens? What if my choice was to do something that put you or your family in danger. What would your opinion be then?

Unfortunately, we have too many here who choose to believe in superstition rather than science. We’re gonna be stuck with COVID-19 for a long time to come.

So if freedom of choice outweighs everything else, every other concern, then... what if, hypothetically, I decided that your house looks better on fire. Is it okay for me to set it on fire? Remember, if you say no, you’re interfering with my freedom of choice.

You're only taking the first two lines right? The latter part of my message is broad, not necessarily directed at you.

I'm upset with your blatant ignorance, your need to be ignorant, because it gives you... "meaning". (how hot or cold am I? 🙂)

See this isn't even about you... It's about the people you run into when you're outside. You're not respecting them . I don't think anybody cares about you that much.. Well, not strangers anyway. You're putting them at risk.. Is that clearer for you? Only a truly lost libertarian would trash empathy and caring for other peoples' wellbeing like that... but ... c'est la vie... (c'est the American brainwashing... it's funny, no matter what political background or social status people have in my country, they mostly all put in the effort to wear a mask publicly.. it's not a political thing here... just a ... you know... decency thing.)

I mean you trash your own wellbeing and life... and can't even refute my points about it... just turn to "mockery" saying "seems someone is upset..." .... well it seems someone can't answer with any valid points... Cheers.

So you're saying its ok for me to walk nude through a mall even if the government says it's not ok? A mask is just a piece of clothing and being required to wear one is just dress code, which is not a freedom mentioned in any constitution.
like lambs to the slaughter...

Drumpf, ultimate warrior for FREEEEEEEEDOM ... was seen wearing a mask on RGB's funeral / respect ceremony where he was shamed and booed. (lol did you look at his angery eyebrows? 🤣 not even a mask can hide a petulant child...)

oh and there's this too (not a huge fan of Sam but... look at the news clip a mintue in, don't worry I linked u ;) it's hilarious)

Well, a good week or so later and we've seen what happens when people exercise their freedom to not wear masks.

Maybe it's time to get over how it makes you look, and wear one to make others safe.
