Apple earbuds are **** and I cannot make apologies for Apple in that department. 600$ device with 10$ earbuds, lame.

I can also criticize Shure for not having replaceable cables (old 530's), with new ones they solved it. I use combo of in-ear & over (Shure 530 & Sennheiser HD25).

Interesting.. though nothing beats in-ear for quality.

Interestingly, I've had the Apple in-ear ones for a couple of years and just recently started getting sore ears from them. Really interested in what the new ones might be like - the new iPhone is looking really exciting in every way!

Over the ear headphones would beg to differ.
I have to agree cans are the best for me with comfort and quality. But it's a little hard to take can out and about. Hence that's why most people need a quality set of inner ears too. Well relatively quality.

Am I the only one here who doesn't like ear buds? I have to use actual oldschool headphones because the buds make my ears hurt.

They hurt when I started using them with my first Gameboy, and still hurt now when I occasionally use them with my iPhone/iPad.

I prefer ear plug types - they stick Further in your ear - better sound, less need to have the volume turned up

I have these cx300's - http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/...veASIN=B001EZYMF4&linkCode=as2&tag=mysp085-21

how do you guys evaluate the chances that apple changed the way the remote works? i just ordered some pricey IEMs (compatible with the 4s). now it comes to my mind that apple might chance something so that my newly ordered buds wont work on future idevices.

what do you think?

I hope it is noise cancellation. Apple seem to be good at their noise cancellation in regards to phone calls with their two mics.

Default headphones are universally terrible, nothing to see here.

I've been rocking Sony MW600 Bluetooth earphones for a while, pretty good if you're looking for a wireless solution;

I hope this one fits in my ear without dropping out every five seconds.

Maybe... because now they might just starting hurting your ears after 5 seconds forcing you to take them out anyways... futuristic but pretty uncomfortable looking design.

I think its fair to say that like their predecessors will end up in the bin. Apple should really work with the likes of Klipsch to get their headphone design to a state where they are comfortable to wear.
I use Klipsch and love them. S I could care less what Apple includes with iPhone as I'd never use them anyway.

Thought these were Cookie Monster eyes at first glance! Anyway, what's with the openings on the side of the earbuds? (You have to watch the video to see this--you can't see them in the picture, only the front opening which I assume is the actual "loudspeaker" part.)

My guess is that it's a port to let sound in. Many people use these while driving so it's important not to block out too much sound.

It looks like it'll be an isolation improvement over the current headset, while still being practically safe.

After all those stupid articles about this stupid patent war finally something substancial rumoresque! :)

I like the design. Much easier to tell which bud goes into which ear.

For us iPhone people it's easy to see that the side with the microphone goes on the right. :p

I realize this doesn't help mic-less users though.

if someone hasnt said it before, i think these are supposed to go deeper into your ear and sit on the outer part of the ear canal as opposed to the terrible design they have right now which kind of irritatingly sits on the outer ear and makes my ears hurt.
