I really wish they would've fixed where when you're on a phone call and you're using your headset or speakerphone with the screen locked......YOU CAN'T see the time!!! You can't see the time without unlocking the phone.

Also,if I'm on a phone call and my call drops....but before I can redial my caller calls me back...I answer and proceed to talk..... But I want to do anything on my phone like look at the time while on the phone. As soon as I unlock the phone it automatically re dials the last dropped call. Even though I'm on the phone with the original caller.... So annoying

Ok, I watched the IOS 7.1 changes vid and thought - what great material for a Second City TV or Saturday Night Live skit. Is it me or is Apple floundering?

Seems the only thing Tim Cook knows how to do is increase price point and profit margin. He’s diluted the brand by adding S to everything so that nobody wants to buy anything because in 3-6 months and ’S’ will be released that has all the features the original product should have had to begin with.

To be fair, this is only a *.1 release, a few months after the initial OS was released. iOS 4 went was on 4.3 before iOS 5 simply because of multiple refinements.

Now, if they'd unveiled iOS 7.1 at WWDC I'd agree with you.

Also, can you name a product that, within 6 months, had an 'S' release? (Other than the iPad 3 > iPad 4.)

Not a fan of the new GUI updates and overall underwhelmed. I think I'm going to skip this one.

Why?! It's free and takes a few minutes to install.

Unless I'm forgetting something I think I dislike all the UI changes they've made in iOS 7 since the unveling.

The new slide to power off looks way worse and the first incoming call UI was better than the one they changed it to.

Did the font of the keyboard go bold or just black instead of grey? I really got used to the light and skinny font 7.0 had. But, it won't take long to get used to this again...

While I didn't have time to go through all of the accessibility options, I like the guided access option. Great for letting your kids play with your phone...

Behold... iOS is now customizable. LOL. That was a joke. Android FTW. Apple is too slow and the changes so minor.

Why should Apple be 'fast' in changes things? The current iOS is so much nicer then Android (I'm using both) and way better programmed. They fixed the very annoying shutdown at almost random times now and for me that's more then enough change. Why change anything if it just works besides for the bugs?

----------

this is the what everyone's been waiting for & whining about?

You don't have a iPad Air, that's for sure. It restarted frequently, now that's been fix. People who don't 'whine' after paying hundreds of dollars for a device that shuts itself down frequently, well, these kind of people don't have a clue about what value money has to them.

The good news though, the bug that causes crashes has been fixed and that's something to be happy about indeed don't you think? Rhetorical question by the way.

Really Nice!

I'm actually quite content with this latest update! Everything feels extremely fast and flows quite well. A lot of the UI elements that bothered me have been tweaked as well as applications(on my 4S) feel dramatically faster! I don't remember the last time I felt this happy after a minor update!

Overall I like it. Especially that the old month view is back in the calendar. What I don't like however, is that the Bold Text option now makes some parts of the OS too bold, like the keyboard or the buttons at the bottom of Safari or phone app.

But I don't want to turn off Bold Text either, since I prefer it on the home screen, app icon names, weather app, phone key pad etc. Seems like they should offer options under Bold Text so you can customize where in the OS you want the bold text.
I agree! When there is an option that says "Bold Text" why would it also make those icons bold as well? Wish they kept the pre-7.1 Bold Text method. Or, add an option to Bold Buttons/Icons, too.

I somehow think it's a a bit of a bug. In the Settings, Notification Center, when you go into any app to change its notification settings, the images under Alert Style looks weird when the Bold Text is enabled.

Guess it's time to send Apple some feedback.

The new "button shapes" accessibility setting is an admission that iOS 7.1 UI is garbage. It also proves that nobody is reviewing the changes coming out of Apple and sending things back when they aren't good enough.

Sure, let's keep adding settings to make up for the short comings of our UI design - something we shouldn't have let out the door in the first place. I've sold my Apple stock a few weeks ago and moved it into Tesla. So so glad that I did!

There is no innovation coming out of Apple other than adding settings to compensate for your bad UI design. Apple can't even design a UI anymore. Way to go Apple!

I want Scott Forstall to come back.

Thank you Apple

Now I can make my screen 3% darker!!!!

Thank you Apple for the wiggle room :(:D

In ‘SETTINGS’ / GENERAL / RESTRICTIONS....anyone have a clue what the required ‘Restrictions Passcode’ might be or how to access it. It is NOT the same as my ‘Passcode’ for opening the phone for use.

so you dislike the changes in iOS 7 but you're also upset they added the options to change it?

can't please everyone apparently

What you said will be hard for people to swallow, but you are absolutely correct. The button shapes are laughably bad, why is a button a greyed out shape?

They look awful and do not match the overall aesthetic. Why not shape buttons with a thin blue line that matches the OS?, surely Apple can do better than a greyed out shape. I swear the text isn't even spaced evenly within the "button shape".

It's a mighty shame what Apple classes as good software design nowadays.

I agree with stealth1701 and AZREOSpecialist. I turned on "Button Shapes" and generally like it, as I couldn't get on with the "spider's legs" icon styles, but in Mail the "Cancel" button looks terrible, difficult or damn near impossible to see. No thorough testing?

Another new feature

Another feature I noticed in 7.1, in Music, is the addition of "Add All Songs" when you are adding to a playlist. In 7.0 you could only add individual tracks to a playlist, not an entire album. They finally added an "Add All Songs" button at the top of an album so you can add an entire album to a playlist. Very useful!

why exactly do people say this? as if updating is some arduous task that requires some kind of sacrifice, rather than just a few minutes of letting your phone do its thing and then being done with it until the next update.

unless you are jailbroken, there is literally no reason not to update to a more stable and refined operating system.

There is if you would rather keep your GUI because it is more pleasing to you. In the end, is it not what is most pleasing to the end user? To me the update isn't more pleasing so I won't update until there is something in an update I feel I must have.

My phone to me is sufficiently fast for me already. Unlike most people I can live without it and am on it less than 20 minutes a day. If I am on it, it is to make a call. The one place this update displeases me. Why should I make my user experience less than satisfactory if I don't have to?

Text message with DND

Only thing I want is for Apple to make Do Not Disturb function for text messages as well as calls.

I have my alarm system for my RV set up to text me if it should go off. When I am sleeping I want to get a text from my RV but I don't want a text from anyone else at 3:00 AM.. What is so hard about this concept.

I text more than I use the phone anyway, I should be able to put the contact for my RV in the group and still receive the text message.

Apple Please Fix!!!!
