what are you blind??? it's all there in the Video!

let me know when a competitor's phone drops signal by just using a finger. Then we have something to talk about. There's a reason why Consumer Reports didn't recommend the Iphone 4 and it's because it has major problems.

SOME OF YOU GUYS TAKE IT UP THE ARSE WHEN I COMES TO APPLE AND THE IPHONE.

The Iphone 4 has an antenna issue that affects most all iphone 4's CASE COLD! STOP BEING BUTT HURT AND ACCEPT REALITY! The iphone 4 has a major issue!

Android and Blackberry owners are NOT seeing these issues! It's iphone 4 owners that have problems!

Scream all you want but you even quote the proof that disproves you lmao!!!

Even the droid x has the same issue too hahahaha!! You must own an Android and have stock in Google if your head is stuck so far up your own ass.

clearly you're a moron, as all the links you posted do not provide evidence of any of the phones actually dropping calls. thats the main stickler point. Yes, the whole public knew that there is signal attenuation when holding any phone. Thanks for the info captain obvious, did you just wake up from June 18?

Really and you have an iP4? I thought so. Go home Troll and keep posting on your stupid Droid sites.

YES all iphone 4 have this antenna issue, Get the FU@K over it and accept it!

Are you hard at reading? Not everyone here can reproduce the signal drop let alone doing it one finger. I have to grip the bejeezus out mine to get it to drop. But if you are in a weak area than it is easier to reproduce. I can assume many other phones are alike.

Just wait. Now that Steve Jobs cracked the whip out about every other phones doing it too the mass will slowly pay closer attention to their drop calls on theirs. 5 bucks says the iPhone 4 isn't the only one doing it.

Ironic that you earlier mentioned that we all take it up the ass when it comes to apple/iPhone. Did your own nonsense also stick itself up yours when you were typing?

No one here is saying there is no issue with Apple. The videos show attenuation on all the other phones too.

Wow seriously why is it that every time a new iPhone is released people come to such great lengths to show why their new phone is not just SUPERIOR but that every one that didn't purchase one is stupid?

OP. Yes you can manipulate many phones to lose signal. But the biggest difference is that many of us DON'T HOLD HTC/Samsung/Blackberry to the same standard as Apple. The company that "just works". This is the problem with their incredible marketing, we've come to expect perfection because they've delivered it to us before.

Why do you think it's a big deal? Because Apple made the iPhone 4 a big deal in the first place. These problems and complaints fall on Apple alone. Why do we need to throw the whole cell phone industry under the bus?

Making threads like this don't address the problem. It just causes more unneeded attention to the problem.

Almost all mobile phones out there have that issue. Since apple is so popular , it is easy to be targeted. Anyways :apple: rules!

Too late! The whole phone antenna attention has just begun. I can see it now getting exploited from every phone and every manufacture every where in the world.

LOL. I thought that the Apple innovations of Facetime, increased battery life & retina screens would be the legacy of the iPhone 4. Things which implemented in other smartphones from other companies. I guess for 2010-2011 they will just argue about who has the best signal strength. Is this umm...1997 again :p

This is a silly argument. You are essentially saying, because this phenomenon happens to other phones, the iPhone 4 doesn't have a problem.

You fail to take into account:

1. The prevalence of the phenomenon: is this phenomenon affecting a small number of iPhones or a majority of them? A smaller number of other phones or a majority of them? Some of the videos (such as that of the Galaxy S) show what appear to be defective phones suffering from problems that other owners of the phone do not report.

2. How does the phenomenon occur: do the other phones demonstrate the phenomenon while holding the phone in a normal fashion? Some of the videos (such as that of the G1) use such unnatural holding positions to force the problem, which means in normal usage it would not happen.

3. How severe is the phenomenon: not all attenuations are created equal. For example, Anandtech showed 22dB attenuation with the iPhone 4 but only 10dB with iPhone 3GS. Remember decibels is a logarithmic scale. That is an order of magnitude of difference between the two phones.

The problem with the iPhone 4 depends on all three factors: 1. prevalent across the entire model, 2. occurs during normal usage, and 3. severe attenuation. If any of the three isn't true, then we are talking about a nonissue.

You have yet to prove that all three is true for any other phone.

from the press conference:

0.55% iPhone 4 owners contacted Apple Care to complain

1.17% return rates = 1/3 of 3GS

Drop calls = < 1 more per 100

This is a non-issue for 99% of all iPhone 4 owners

Except all three of those statistics are worthless.

1. 0.55% complain to AppleCare
We have no idea how many people suffer from the problem and did not call to complain. This is a problem that is getting a lot of news coverage. It seems likely that people who suffer from the problem and saw the coverage would have no reason to call, they can just wait and see if there's a fix coming.

2. 1.7% return rate
30 days are not up yet, a lot of people could be just waiting for a fix and then deciding if they want to return. The real return rate once we cross the 30 day mark will probably be a lot different.

3. <1 more per 100 dropped calls compared to 3GS
This could be really bad or really good. We have no way of knowing without knowing how many calls the 3GS drops. If the 3GS drops 0.5 calls per 100, then this is a near 200% increase, which is a huge problem. But if the 3GS drops 20 calls per 100, then this is merely a 5% increase which is not that bad (but something tells me the 3GS doesn't drop that many calls).

So, all three statistics tell us next to nothing how severe the problem is.

There's hard data and then there's your opinion based on no data at all.

Are you saying that if someone bought a phone and it didn't make calls they wouldn't call Applecare or return it? Seriously?!

The data's pretty clear. This doesn't affect as many people as you wished it would (for some bizarre reason).

There's no such thing as hard data here. There's statistics, there's lying with statistics, there's pointing out flaws with statistics.

If you had a problem that is getting so much coverage it's on TV news channels, why would you call? I certainly wouldn't, I would just wait to see what they do about it.

If you think the data is so clear, then why don't you point out the flaws in the problems that I pointed out in the data?

I even wonder if some of you even watched the videos. None of the videos show the bars drooping instantly like the Iphone 4 and with just a finger. It seems ppl are really trying to hard to defend their Iphone 4 purchase. Who cares what ppl think of your phone. I returned mind because I want a working phone and I know Apple will release a working one next year with out the flaws. I'm not stupid to get myself stuck in a two agreement with a phone I can't use as a phone.

Like Steve said today.. the actual signal starts dropping as soon as you touch a phone in the spot that makes it lose signal. The bars visually dropping is set by the phone maker/software. Basically, just because the other phones don't SHOW the signal dropping right away doesn't mean they aren't dropping signal right away. They are.

Are you ****ing kidding me?

The statistics shown were based on hard data. What's wrong with you? When they say it drops less than 1 call per 100 versus a 3G, that's a statistic based on hard data.

As for the media attention, how old are you? I'm curious because it's almost like you've never seen the media take a story and sensationalize it to get ratings, views and hits.

What you point out is based on your OPINION. You're basing that a lot of people aren't calling into AppleCare. What data do you have other than your opinion? Show it, and then we can talk.

There '0.55% iPhone 4 owners contacted Apple Care to complain' statistic is the worst one of all. Only a flipping moron would call in to complain when everyone knows about the problem and knows that calling applecare wouldn't fix it. There's this thing called the 'internet' and 'word of mouth'.

Also, dropped calls is still higher than 3GS.

Return rate? Wait until after the press conference, people were waiting to see what apple would do.
