This is a test video I did using my iPhone 4 and the iMovie app all editing was done on the phone. Originally I shot the same footage with my Olympus pen to compare the two but my computer crashed and I lost the pen footage so stay tuned for comparison video!!

Not sure if you could tell while you were filming the red flowers, but you probably should have tapped on them on the screen to correct the balance so they aren't so washed out with color. I keep trying to remind myself to do this...tap on what you want to see best.

Has anyone else noticed how many fake videos there are on YouTube claiming to be HD iPhone 4 videos?? Do people really have that much time to waste trying to give a phone a bad name??

Is there a way to change the video quality settings? Or does it just always record in 720?

I seem to be slow and can not find anything.

Can someone answer me the following -

1) I shot some video with the default movie recording in the camea, but my phone was in a vertical position (not horizontal) when I shot the vid. Can this be rotated/fixed in the editing phase on my PC?

2) Once I have the QuickTime movie on my PC, is it just a matter of uploading that video to YouTube?

Here's a video taken from the iPhone4 and edited using iMovie App.

This also showcases the photos that the iPhone4 can do. Overall the quality is good.. the only thing about the video as well as the photo is, its not really good on low-light conditions.

Just watched a bunch of these videos. Does everybody have to edit their family films with sappy music over the shots or is the audio quality so bad on the iPhone, you have no choice. Would love to hear some of these people talking/laughing/etc.

I think the quality of the mic, is decent... not really good but decent enough that you can use it. And besides its the same crappy mic that they put on most of the consumer-level video cameras.

Can someone tell me how I can rotate a video taken withi the Iphone so that it is correct after upload to YouTube? Does youtube automatically adjust?

Did you film in portrait mode? If so, AFAIK, it will stay that way unless you use Final Cut or another high end editor to fix it.

Yes...It always records in 720p, but if you create it in iMovie you can choose an export size that is smaller.

If you choose to send it to YouTube from your phone, it will compress automatically. Same is true if you try to email or send as part of an instant message.

Basically I shot the video with the phone vertically. Looks good on phone, but realized that it's not good since Youtube is 16:9.

Just wanted to know if there was a way to fill the screen more so the aspect ratio looks half way decent.

Video for Extra Life 2010, a videogame charity

Here is my first video all shot and edited on the iPhone 4 and with the iMovie app. A little background on the video. I help out a charity in Houston called Extra Life. A bunch of the members were at a sign up location called Player 1 and we had a lot of fun! I only took a few pics and one video because I ended up playing most of the time, so I didn't have a lot to work with. But I think this worked out well.

Let me know what you think. Also if you have time to check out the charity, please go to the Extra Life site for more info.

I hope to put up more videos using the iPhone 4 on my channel soon.

I beg to differ. The audio on my bids above are fantastic and far better then others I have seen at the same concert

the video uses the mic by the headphone jack.

the apple headphones/mic can be plugged in and it overrides the phone mic. this helps greatly with narration.

otherwise you either have to plug in a 'real' microphone (like a shotgun mic)* or hand the apple mic around.

by itself though the mic is pretty decent. like most consumer setups wind affects it a fair amount.

video I shot in some rather heavy wind:

*which will likely need a power source as well lol

neat. music would be a nice addition. the program will automatically lower the music when other sound comes into play (you can hear it increase in volume on pics)

check my sig for tips on fades/transitions

I just tried it myself for the first time...video/pictures were shot and edited in about 5 minutes. Upload to YouTube in HD didn't take that long (but my video is short).

I haven't had a chance to try this yet, but if a picture is used in iMovie at the end of the video, there doesn't seem to be a way to add a transition at the end....heck, I'm not even sure if you can do it if a video clip is at the end of the strip...I hate the way it just cuts off at the end...would rather have it fade out.

You're correct; I noticed that too. For some reason, there doesn't appear to be any way to add a fade in or out to the beginning or end of a video. I'm hoping in a future update that Apple will add a transition button allowing us to drag and drop to anywhere we want in the timeline.

BTW, nice video. I like your use of the sun transition.

check out my sigline for tips on fades/transitions

Thanks Don for the great tips....but I still think it's lane that they don't have a fade in and fade out transition available....

How did you shoot your black picture?? Put the phone up against a pillow or something?

I just put some black cloth over the lens and snapped a pic.

I could have just stuck my finger over the lens but then I'd have to wipe off the lens afterwards hehe.
