Why don't you just wait for the announcement tomorrow and see if the reception issue will be taken care of.

I think that you would really like to try Android and you just need validation. I have a Nexus One, and although Android is a nice platform, the applications are not on par with iOS. That's just my opinion, and you should definitely give them a try if you feel compelled to do so.

Try an Android device for a few days. You will come running back.

I tried a Moto Droid for a week. Just not refined. Its like eating canned chocolate pudding instead of chocolate mousse from a upscale restaurant. Just no comparison.

umm... did you?

Oh, for Christopher's sake:

dude, are you serious? They acknowledge gripping any phones will make it lose reception by 1 or 2 bars. I'm talking about just putting your finger on the lower left hand corner and causing the calls to drop or 3g transmission to a halt. Where exactly in that letter did they acknowledge a fix for that issue?

I played around with my friends new droid X that he waited in line for lol. He said there were only three other people when it opened.

It seems like a good phone but it keeps slipping out of my hand I just know I'm going to drop it.

The os itself seems unorganized, I have swipe through a bunch of screens to get to where I want. The apps aren't refined.

I actually did a battle with barcode reader apps of all things, mine read everything, his maybe got half correct. I tested the camera side by side in still and video and the iPhone won both times, it has much better color. I do like the button for the camera on the droid though, makes holding it still a lot easier.

Couldn't really compare battery life but before my last charge I had 7:15 of usage and 2:12:00 of standby.

I was envious of the notification bar though.

The screens look about the same until you look at small text on webpages and thats where the iPhone really kicks ass.

The OS seems jittery when swiping through home screens and abrupt when scrolling and zooming.

I like swype on the droid but typing on the iPhone still seems faster but that may be because I'm used to the iPhone.

He also had a free tethering app that probably would be rejected if verizon found out about it.

And lastly you can host conference calls on skype, something you can't do on the iPhone :(.

In general, the droid X excels in some areas but you're not going to find anything more refined and user friendly than an iPhone.

Maybe here:
For example, we sometimes display 4 bars when we should be displaying as few as 2 bars. Users observing a drop of several bars when they grip their iPhone in a certain way are most likely in an area with very weak signal strength, but they don’t know it because we are erroneously displaying 4 or 5 bars. Their big drop in bars is because their high bars were never real in the first place.

P.S. And before you go ranting on about how is that a fix, you originally asked only if they had acknowledged the issue. They did.

To me, the Droid phones dont seem anywhere near as refined as ANY iPhone, especially the iP4.

100k of apps in the droid store, by and large, crapware....sorry.:)

oh I forgot to add that verizon adds a lot of bloatware to the droid X, makes me feel like I'm on a phone form 5 years ago that has all of the game trials bleh

I feel the same way. iPhone 4 is driving me crazy because when I hold it normally my 3G speeds are noticeably slower. I was thinking I'd go back to my 3GS, but now it feels dated and the screen is terrible in comparison to the 4. I'm stuck on AT&T, so even if I went android I wouldn't have much hardware to choose from (not that I even want to switch). Not sure what to do, but I hope Apple does the right thing tomorrow. I bet they won't though.

nobody is doing anything violent to you. no matter what it's still a phone. I've used the android software and have an iPhone right now. It's no comparison. Android is like the original gameboy compared to sony psp. There's no comparison for the interface iPhone has. if you don't like your phone return it. simple.

Apple acknowledge theres a problem with the formula in the software on how the bars were displayed. They acknowledge holding 'ANY' phone will cause bars to drop. They did not acknowledge by just touching the lower left hand corner of the phone cause calls to drop and reception/transmission grind to a halt.

If anything you should get out of that letter, they are stating that there is nothing wrong with the iPhone 4 reception and it's the best wireless performance they've shipped so far, and they're coming out with a software update to fix the accuracy on how the bars are displayed.

Not sure what your issue with Android may be but it's actually a great platform. Sure, it doesn't have the spit and polish of the iPhone OS, but it has soooo much more. Like, I can actually have an undropped phone call.

I love my EVO.

I guess I am getting something different out of that letter than you. If you refuse to see it and want it spelled out for you in crayons, I feel sorry for you.

Samsung Captivate (a GalaxyS variant) coming this Sunday

Apparently you are, because no where in that letter do they acknowledge theres a problem with the iPhone 4 antenna design/reception issue. For anyone who thinks otherwise, you should lay off the Apple Koolaid.

I hope your joking. Give it a while on the Android forums. You will find just as many crazed fanboys over there as you will over here.

So far I've found the Android community to be extremely helpful and conspicuously absent of crazed fanbois. Not saying there aren't any.....just saying they seem to be less rabid.
