You basically have to scroll through them backwards alphabetically, until you reach the first opponent with the name beginning in A. Then the Practice option should be after that.
Not ideal, but it's what we have atm.

maybe I have a buggy game:confused:
I've noticed a few things with it for example as you can see in the settings its set for aim line and ghost ball yet it only shows the line

also sometimes the overhead, zoom and adjust spin buttons are missing and i have to come out and then back onto the game!!

Try installing the game again. I really don't see how the problems you are having can happen.

To get to practice mode, select Quick Play.
Place your finger on the current Opponent in the list. Flick it hard to the right. This will speed scroll backwards in the list to get to the first two non-computer opponents. The first is 'Practice Mode' and the second is for two play. (pass the iPhone back and forth for each shot).

I reinstalled the game and it's now working fine!!!!
By the way it's a great game!!!!!!
When you Internet play working will you be able to choose who you want to play??

@VP:
1) Any news on if you will work on 'faking' the balls falling into the pockets?
2) It looks like you fixed the save game bug am I right? (where going into Career used to continue your Quick Play save)
3) It has been mentioned by others here- do you think you may work UK 8-ball rules into the game at any point?

Love the new version. I keep telling everyone in the TouchArcade forum how much better this game is over Midnight Pool.

Thanks for the support!!

1) If this can be faked to an acceptable level, it will be in the online release.
2) Yes, I made two changes and couldn't get the problem to happen again. Unfortunately that doesn't mean it won't happen in some other way. To be safe, if you have a Career on hold, complete it before you play Quick Play.
3) UK rules will happen but after online. I assume that online is more important than UK rules, so that is the order I am working on right now.

I bought this game a few days ago. The gameplay is pretty good, but the menus are horrible.

the ghost ball is not appearing again although I have it turned on in settings????

I never use it, but I have just tested it and it's working ok for me.

The king has competition

Well, there are certainly enough pool apps available now. VP is still the best one, but some of the other games could surpass it with a few minor updates. Here is my short rundown of features seen in other pool apps that would make VP even better:

* ONLINE - nothing should stall this feature. No pool app has this... yet.

1. Lag for break - not too difficult to implement, and a nice feature to determine who goes first.

2. Cue Angle adjustment - This is key for a true sim. No more shooting through rails and other balls. Elevate the stick to go around obstacles, add masse and jump shots, and eliminate impossible shots through objects.

3. Improved UI, menus, and graphics.

You'd think the list would be bigger, but those are the main features that make some of the other games superior to VP. Again, VP is overall a better game, but WCP 09 isn't far from from being a real challenger. Killer pool has more work to compete, but that game isn't too bad either. None of them can touch VP for aiming and shooting mechanics.

any news on the update?
will it be over 3g or just wi-fi?

It works over Edge, 3g or wi-fi.
We've been doing torture and load testing the last few weeks and it looks good. We can only handle about 32K games at one time right now. We have no idea if that will be enough. Hopefully it will be enough for awhile and we can add lines and servers as needed.
We hope to submit to Apple Sunday (Jan 11th).

That's not true. A couple of the pool apps have online (through 3G/EDGE) capability for sometime.

Glad I saw this thread. I bought it once I saw it. Great game and I'm having alot of fun playing it. For you vets out there, I do have a question. Is there a way to know who I beat in each setting? Like I played a few people from the Garage and then the Hawg Pen opened up and I went there but I dont think I beat everyone from the Garage yet. Any tips or advice is much appreciated, thanks!

Hey VirtualPool, great game I'm really enjoying it. I have a question - I haven't found what the "Miscall" in the settings menu does.

Also, I'd like to be able to choose which game I play. It seems that if I define a "Career Player," he always plays the same game. What if I have the career player set to play 9-ball, but I either want to play a quick game of 8-ball or want my career player to challenge an opponent in 8-ball instead of 9-ball? Do I just need to set up a player for each game type?

I'm used to playing 8-ball as a called shot game. I guess that would be cumbersome in the virtual game, but I'd still like the possibility to call a safety.

I believe miscall is when you play "fair" and make a garbage shot you didn't intend. I'm somewhat guessing on this based on how the computer reacts to garbage shots with a miscall.

You can create a new career to play 8-ball (or any of the other games).
You can also set them up for a different skill level.

You can use 'Miscall' for when you make a shot you didn't plan, but you can't call safety. You only call the pocket for the 8.

Glad you like the game so far.

I cannot for the life of beat the hammer:eek::eek: playing on the hardest level and I was 5-1 up and he still beat me!!!!
all the way to $50000 ive been 3 or 4 times and cant get past this guy!!

how the dickens do you beat GQ

hello all,

has anyone managed to beat GQ in the purple room? I must have played him 20 times, and even have had him at 7-3 a few times. But surprise, surprise, I lose.

It seems that unless you put a ball down from the break, you can forget the frame.

Any thoughts on what to do to beat the shark? If not, this phone could get launched against the wall.

Cheers
