Cool!
Do you find it much faster compared to a mac when dealing with multiple windows when using it for work?
I'm asking because that's what I think the killer use really is, and that's also what I probably would buy it for when time will come.
Depends on the use. For me I’ll display my Mac screen in ultra and will use multiple screens within that ultra display. Alternatively, I might be disconnected from the Mac but catch up on emails with my keyboard, while I have video windows and my texts open off to the side. It depends what I’m doing.

I bought my first Apple Watch right after my daughter was born and expected my top use case to be the ability to text from my wrist without a phone. The best use case was the ability to answer a phone call while changing a diaper. Never saw it coming.

I watched a movie the other day on the back deck on a beautiful day with wind and fresh air and the movie screen spread over my backyard. I didn’t buy it for that but it was outstanding.

Very few things on this site as consistent as the visceral bitterness and misguided criticism from people who don't have actual experience with the AVP.

The thing is... there are tons of legitimate critiques of the device, it's software, and the associated rollouts. Calling it a "terrible device" is one of the most abjectly stupid takes though. It's a science-fiction level incredible device. The best solo media watching experience *for any price*.

100%. Sometimes the haters go way too far and declare that not a single person has ever found a use case for it and you can’t wear it without losing your lunch. No doubt the Vision Pro 1 will make us laugh the current model.

I spent a lot of money on it, and I really make sure it’s worth it for me; and I use it a lot. I’m getting my money’s worth for sure.

You're making a false assumption that folks who are critical of AVP don't have actual experience with it.

If the Vision Pro is garbage as some claim here, why did the Chinese copied it? That would make no sense.

A lot of ignorance spilled around here from people who don't even own the device or didn't know what to do with it.
They are just blindly repeating what click-bait bloggers have been publishing about the Vision Pro.

Like with the first iPad ever released, my Vision Pro is the most amazing device I have ever owned until date. Not only as a toy or media consumption device, but as a work tool. And tools generate money; something a few of us know how to use these tools.

Or didn't know what to do with it. Some people bought it because they were bored, used it for a few days then returned it because they got bored again.
It's like someone buying a hammer drill just to be able to say they own one.

That they also have the same latency for pass-through, which is pretty crazy. Both of them are 11-13ms. Remember Apple going on and on about all the custom silicone to get there? I wonder if the "Apple Vision Pro 2" will get under 7ms, which is where motion sickness should disappear.
Interesting. I have never sensed any motion sickness. I guess YMMV.

Why would it be a turd ? Have you tried it or any other VR headset ? I've tried it and It's technologically superior to every other headset on the market. It's only flaws are the insane price, and the heavier weight compared to something like the Quest 3 ( which I own )
The AVP hardware is superb, and I do not fault the price or the weight. IMO the maturation of the software is what is necessary to make AVP really workable.

Phablets. Naming it "mini" was a major problem. I've had this conversation with women who had a visceral reaction to not wanting a "mini" iPhone sight unseen, only to cause them surprise when they saw the phone wasn't as small as they had presumed. The only saw it because I own one. Marketing killed the phone. Now with modern battery chemistry and taking the phone up to 5.6" and giving it a narrower bezel, it could be a great option. Just get rid of all the additional marketing terms for iPhone and have two sets of phone: iPhone and iPhone Ultra, in three or four sizes.
I never thought about the marketing thing, but you have a point.
I wonder how much it affected potential buyers.

I don’t think that’s the problem. The problem is the technology is not small enough for what it needs to be a pair of glasses and eventually just contacts the user puts on their eyes not 1.5 pounds strapped to the face that is awkward. I would use the AVP if it was much smaller and weighed far less than currently. The technology is amazing but it’s not miniaturized enough yet.
Not everyone thinks "the technology is not small enough for what it needs to be a pair of glasses and eventually just contacts." IMO the existing AVP is very good hardware being only limited by software still beta. Glasses will be a different product.

Thanks for sharing. Not so much cuz I might buy it - cuz I probably won't have enough money for years to come - but because I find it quite rare to read someone's experience with it that goes beyond the usual "i use it to watch movies" kind of review.

The same way it affects people who buy their clothes based on looks only and not on the quality of the fabric and manufacturing.
I don't think this is on point, because we're talking about how Apple named the device, so that would be even before actually seeing the iPhone. 😅

Very good points -- the original Mini concept (the 12 Mini) also had the misfortune of releasing into the heart of the 2020 pandemic .. and even the 13 Mini a year later was swept up in it.

The concept needs a reattempt with a refreshed vision again at some point.

There absolutely is a reasonable market for something sub 6" ... I'd even say sub 5.4" (12 & 13 Mini screen size)

I agree with you that "multiple windows when using it for work" is a killer app of sorts for AVP. I have spent more than the cost of AVP on external displays, and after 3+ hours of testing AVP it is clear that AVP could do a better job for my needs than the multiple displays do.

However unfortunately so far the software breaks when I try to create my real-world workflow. It almost works, but real work is not horseshoes. Each time I have tested AVP the software has been significantly better. I will probably buy V2 of AVP, or maybe a discounted V1 to save money if V1 and V2 both run identical software.

Personally I am not at all put off by the size or weight of V1 AVP. My guess is that the folks who whine about size/weight never spent thousands of hours wearing powered respirators, helmets, hard hats or similar.

You, I assume, do acknowledge that it needs to get better to increase adoption, right?

Normal folks aren't looking to get "subjected" to their device and "tolerate" using it.

You hit on what the haters here blind themselves to. The AVP is [IMO very well done] new tech, and users will over time develop the good use cases.

We can agree to disagree. I think the software is amazing but the hardware is too large, bulky and heavy strapped to the face.

No, I do not "acknowledge that [AVP hardware] needs to get better to increase adoption."
IMO the hardware is excellent right now. Although of course the hardware will improve, IMO the hardware is already good enough to make AVP a very workable product.

Software is "what needs to get better to increase adoption."

Edit: My comment above is wrong. Lightening hardware will help increase adoption.

Looks very much like the Vision Pro. Nice to see that it is lighter and of course the much cheaper price tag. Hopefully Apple will be able to bring it down to $1999 sometime in the future.

Interesting, our different viewpoints. ;)
And I do agree that the software is amazing, but I find it still too flaky for my workflow needs. E.g. when I last tested it I tried building a Numbers spreadsheet and the spreadsheet broke. I do not use Numbers but I tried it because it was a basic Apple App on the Apple device.
