It's only a 30 day trial. Fusion used to, and still might, include a 90 day trial of some antivirus product to run in a Windows guest, but I've never used that.

Neither have I! Their free AV is crapaffee - which often consumes almost as much resources as some benchmarking Apps, and provides about equally good virus protection as Cinebench does.

Great. VMware Fusion is the only one that works to control machines via USB from Windows on Mac.

So much this. Granted, it's been a while since I've tried Parallels, but VMWare's support of USB has always been near-native in terms of compatibility and performance-- head and shoulders above Parallels or VirtualBox.

I just upgraded to VMware 10.0.1 from the most recent 8.x, and my 2014 MacBook Pro is running vastly cooler. So far so good.

Hmmm I'm P'd OFF, NO Free Upgrade having purchased Fusion Pro 8.5 in August and now they want those $$$$$ again.

If you have older hardware, make sure you download the trial first and confirm it works on your machine. VMWare 10 installs fine on my machine with no warnings whatsoever, but when you try to actually open an existing VM it fails. The new version drops support for many older Intel processors. From what I have seen there is no check to confirm your processor will work either when 8.5 offers the upgrade notice or when actually install version 10.
