Oh dear lord....yeah - this math is very funky. If you just shipped at 151k, and VZW is saying I am due to ship by 10/10 with order number 4.04 mill, that means they are somehow going to crank out 3.9 million phones in the next 2 weeks -
That's too crazy - so - yeah, seems there is more to the order number than meets the eye
Finally see movement on my order!
9/12 6:10 AM 6+ 64gb Gold Via phone due to not getting through online
Order number: 2,474,XXX
Location: D543001
Order Email 10/7 then like most everybody bumped to 10/3 last night we went to "sent for processing" and the area for a tracking number appeared. Verizon Edge so no card charge to watch for. Waiting and hoping for a tracking number, maybe Monday delivery!
Also have to take into account model, storage size, color. The order numbers are just that, order numbers. The order numbers just go in order of order placed. Not anything to do with what type of phone. So I'm sure a lot of people higher than me got theirs before me since I ordered the 6+ 64GB in SG and that seemed to be the most popular choice.
This is why I hate FedEx. Just deliver the damn thing already.
Good point - and, if you think about it, they also represent orders beyond just iPhone 6s...or iPhone in general....Verizon also probably sold some 5s's, Samsung's, etc.....
Oh well - wait and wait. Then I'll wait and then wait
Tell them you are leaving the country this weekend, and you absolutely need the package today. Be polite but be firm about it. They will help you out. I did this before to pickup my MacBook Pro on a Saturday when it was sitting at a local facility.I'm in the same boat as you, friend. Already tried calling FedEx but "Verizon has placed a hold on this item until Monday and also so that it has to be attempted delivery before pickup."

So, anyone know what to make of the order number in terms of figuring out how deep the line in front of me is?
My order number is 404****. If I read it literally, that means there are 4.04+ million people ahead of me...but there's no no way that can be the case...right?
My phone is currently sitting at the FedEx sorting facility at Richmond International, which means I should have it today, eleven days ahead of the original estimate. Woot!
Yeah exactly. Plus it seems they're shipping out ahead of schedule. I had 10/7 then 10/3 and mine shipped yesterday. It's killing me, sitting at fedex 20 minutes away and won't deliver until Monday and I can't pick it up.

Apple sold 9-10 million units in the first weekend. If I ordered at about 7 am 9/12 and am number 4 million-ish, that means that VERIZON had sold nearly half of Apple's haul for the entire weekend before 8 am Friday??
That's completely impossible...right?
PS - this thread is awesome - and addictive -
That's the worst! It's like a birthday present on the top shelf!!!!
Hang in there - and congrats - at least Monday you'll be living large
I personally think the order #'s also include android phones as well. Theoretically speaking, there is no way Verizon sold 4mil iphones in a day if the total amount of phones sold the first 24 were 4 mil across all carriers.
From my understanding, the way it works, is by device color / device availability first and then by where you are in line. So for example you could be 6 + SG 64 at 4,240,000 and the next 6+ SG 64 after you could be 4,240,100 and a mix of other versions of iphones & androids in between. And I'm only certain of this b/c another girl on here ordered the same phone I did an iphone 6+ gold 64 GB at 6am 9/12, i ordered at 9pm the same day and we're only 4,000 6+ gold 64 GB orders apart (were also same location too).

I only have six numbers in my order number. Cancelled the first order I made on the 12th (was concerned the 16gb) wouldn't be enough after I downloaded iOS 8) and ordered a 64gb on the 18th. My second order number was only 437 higher. Location number also has something to do with it.
I haven't received anything yet lolOk, thanks! I was just curious to make sure all is still on track. lol you had a 6+ 16GB right?
Ordered a Silver 6+ 128GB on 9/12. I had the ECDP error, and then got incorrect advice (from a VZW online chat) to order as a new customer. (That order was put on hold, and later canceled.) I finally placed an order over the phone at 4:48 AM EDT -- confirmation email arrived 5:33 AM. On the phone, and in email, my delivery date was 10/14 -- then unavailable, then back to 10/14, then 10/10, where it sits now. I have location code X08890, order number 390xxx. So far, no movement -- just crickets.![]()
