Has anyone had any trouble with the $200 trade-in program for their old iPhone? The Verizon support forums are FULL of people who mailed in deactivated, fully functional phones and were told by Verizon that the value was adjusted to $36 because they hadn't turned off the activation lock or the Phone wouldn't turn on.

I'm slightly terrified to send my phone in to Verizon knowing I can't get it back if they're only going to give me $36 for a phone that could have fetched way more on Craigslist.

Yeah, for me it's totally worth it to drive to the Verizon store and hand it to them in person to get my credit than risk them screwing with me. Not taking that chance. It's the only reason I'm putting up with waiting this long for my phone!
 
Well I'm signing off guys, 128GB iPhone 6 SG delivered this afternoon! Lessons learned from this experience:

1) Don't pre-order with Verizon, always order/buy from Apple if at all possible.
2) Physically take old phone in to Verizon store for trade-in
3) Get everything in writing, print all web page confirmations
4) Patience :)
 
My iPhone 6 128 gb was loaded on a FedEx truck for delivery this morning. The wait is killing me. I don't know how you guys are handling yourselves.

I ordered mine on Wednesday morning and thankfully the rep let me upgrade early.
 
It's really weird so many people have to send them in. My fiance was able to give hers right to a rep in the store who inspected it quick. Its like a 5 point basic inspection. She even had a little water damage (toilet, lol) but the rep said it didn't look too bad. He applied the credit to her account on the spot. I ordered mine online, and since turning the phone in is required for early edge I had my rep look it over before ordering. My online order said I had 14 days upon the receipt of my 6 plus to return my current 5 to a store. Never said anything about sending it in. Obviously store reps are much more lenient, and once they sign off the inspection warehouse can't reverse it. I would recommend taking it to your closest store and seeing they can process the return. My buddy works at our Verizon and he said he's done a number of them and I plan on having him do mine.

I guess my concern is that since my phone isn't scheduled to be delivered until 10/24, they won't be accepting the trade-ins in store anymore for the promotional value. I would MUCH rather take it in and have it appraised in front of me than just put it in the mail and get shafted on the price or even lost.

Does anyone know if Verizon corporate stores will still honor the trade-in promo in store for back-ordered phones that won't be delivered until after the promo's 10/15 end date?
 
They kept telling me my phone would ship first 10/3, then 10/7. Finally someone put in a ticket to get it sent to the warehouse and they said there was no actual order, even though we could see it. Maybe call and tell then this and they can check. I basically blew a headgasket talking to the rep before she would put in the ticket. Good luck..

I just spoke with another VZW rep and she verified everything is good on my order. It was due to ship out on Tuesday but an availability delay held it up. As of right now I should have it by next Friday.

First customer service guy was really cool (Jesús was his name), then I got inadvertently transferred to another 4 CSR's that had no idea what was going on :mad: :mad: :rolleyes: I got transferred to the wrong department like 3 times. Finally they realized there was an error with the automated system that does the service terms and agreements hence putting my iPhone 6 in limbo.....my new estimated shipping date is 10/17....not happy about it but at least I made some progress and they promised I would get shipping info by tonight...I certainly hope they hold onto that promise. Also got my overcharged bill reduced a little but have to go to the Verizon store to fix the whole issue....

Points to learn from in the future: Never order iPhone anything through Verizon, I don't care if they offer 1 year of rear end wiping service for free, not worth the insane incompetence that their CS is full of...I normally a very patient person and I understand CSR's have to deal with tough customers but this was absurd.

As long as you have a receipt showing you ordered prior to the deadline you will be fine. That's all that matters.

I thought you had to go online and have a box shipped to you for the trade in if your phone didn't arrive before the 15th....Just concerned since Verizon screwed my order and now its 10/17 (might get here earlier though)....Verizon has never seamed very forgiving and I bought the 128GB with the intention of using the $200 credit to help the wallet burn lol

A CSR from Verizon Corporate Customer Service told me that I should be able to the trade in store whenever I receive my phone.

BUT, two sales associates from local corporate stores have told me otherwise. One simply told me that unless they have the phone in stock and I buy it right then and there, they can't do the trade. Which is aggravating because I placed my order in-store on launch day and was told otherwise. Another rep at a different store said that they can accept the trade in-store up to the 15th, but after that point their system will only off the pre-promotion appraised value.

This is such a mess.

My buddy who works there assured my fiance and I that as long as you could show proof of purchase prior to the 30th you would qualify for the trade-in credit. I've never personally heard about sending phones in because I haven't dealt with anyone but him. The only reason I ordered online was because I was doing early edge. To do it in store I had to turn my current phone in on the spot which would have left me phonless until mine ships. He said order online (the system allows early edge and allowed a 14 day period after receiving the new phone to turn the old one in) and bring my current phone after I get it and he will approve it and send it in. My fiance took her new 6 along with her receipt to the store on Oct. 3 and she got the credit and he took her phone.

I was told they need the new iPhone serial number for them to give you the trade in credit

I am normally patient too, and really, it is just a phone, but you can only put up with so much.

They honored the 1 gb promo for all three phones and waived the activation fee. Everything ended up being exactly the same as my original order. We will see if this one works. Hope to see some new phones soon.

I have been emailing the rep who helped me fix my order. He is suppose to take care of everything. Thanks ManmaD, good to know all will be fixed.
 
I spent nearly an hour on the phone with Verizon trying to sort out how the trade in would be handled in stores after 10/15. They weren't really especially helpful.

They kept insisting that the date had been extended to 11/15 for the promotion and that they weren't sure why stores hadn't received that email yet. I have seen and heard NOTHING about the dates being extended. The official page for the promo still states that it ends on 10/15 and only provides info for receiving the mailer. They also continued to suggest getting a quote on my phone before the 15th so that it would be honored when I received my phone. None of the stores I called have been willing to do anything of the sort.

Since I still don't have my new phone, and I still don't have my mailer for trading the old one, there's not a hell of a lot I can do anyway. I guess I just wait. If they by some miracle extend it, great, I'll do it in the store. If not... well, I can take my chances with the mailer and hope that they don't try to screw me out of the $200, or I can try my luck on Craigslist.

Crap...my original order didn't go through until 3 days after the 30th and I changed from 64GB to 128GB....I hope the extension counts if your order was after the 30th? I requested a mailer online before the 30th and the store manager I talked with knows this.... I don't know...I'll likely be in the store haggling with these people...with other carriers offering incentives to switch these days its likely there will be more wiggle room with the right words....I've been known to get away using my charm ;)

Verizon has created one giant mess, whether entirely their fault or not it exists...the store manager I talked to said extension to 10/15 was inevitable and that his bosses were hearing talks of 11/15 since no one is going to be able to get their iPhone 6 in time to actually do this (maybe thats the scam of this whole thing! :O )

I meant that it was worth making the drive to the store after my new phone arrives vs mailing the phone in so that I know they can't say the phone doesn't work or isn't deactivated. After waiting this long purely because I wanted that trade in, I am not willing to risk that! I already tried trading it in early a couple weeks ago and they did say they need the new serial number to complete the trade.

That appears to be only for online trade in though, it still says "Don't want to wait? Get INSTANT savings when you trade in at Verizon Wireless store between 9/12/14 and 9/30/14. " I think Nate, like myself, was hoping to be able to do the trade in at the store once our phones came in.

i did too! i ran around at work telling everyone my phone would be here soon!! my original ship date was 10/21 bumped to 10/17. another girl here ordered the same one and her ship date is 10/24 so she's jelly! how long until i get a tracking number?
