Because most of the people getting shipments notices ordered the 6.
Ordered a 6+ 64GB black at 3:02am...
Preorder confirmation/order # doesn't show anything on the order status page. I have not been charged yet either. I called in and she assured me that everything went through and that my phone would be here on the 19th. They must be full of ****... I JUST WANT MY NEW SHINY PHONE!

Ordered a 16GB Gold iPhone 6 Plus. No shipment email yet. Verizon site still says in process and shipping not available. No charge on card, either. Preorder email gives ship by date of 09/19.

I got the same email. I spoke to them yesterday. I was told I'd get my 6+ 128 silver by the 19th.
Yesterday, my "check order status" page had a delivery date of 10/14. Today it says "not available at this time". I believe that's a good thing.
Everyone who ordered 6+'s in the first official hour I believe you have nothing to worry about. I'm in that group. I added a line to get the phone, and I was informed that they assigned the phone number. Big Red doesn't do that unless they have a device to assign it to, whether it's in their current inventory, or on the way to their current inventory.
I believe the plus's will arrive either today or tomorrow to VZ. Plenty of time to get them where they're going by Friday.
My order went in between 3:50 and 3:55am est. After my order confirmation lit up the iPad screen and I took a screen shot, I went back in and the 128gb silver + STILL showed an arrive by date of 9/19 on the product page.
Makes sense about the number thing. I also added a line, my confirmation email clearly lists the new mobile number.

I had to pick a number when I ordered from a list of choices, so I'm not sure how much that can indicate?
For what it's worth a VZW rep told me that they don't charge your cc until the phone is shipped

One thing that is Crystal Clear is Verizon is the worst company on the planet no sense in calling you will just get further upset just have to plan on staying up all night on Thursday if dont have email to be first online as if there is a shortage of them the stores are only going to have a few which means the first few people on line

I ordered an iPhone 6+ 64gb Gray between 4:30am and 5:00am EST on Friday. I received a confirmation email @ 5:13am. My Order Location is N215401, which appears to be Memphis (this is where it is shipping from, not my location). My order number is 84K. I'm wondering if there is anyone with the same location that has gotten a shipping date. As of right now, it says the order is still processing. When I ordered, it said it would be delivered by 10/7.

Verizon rep said that is the date given to everyone but if I ordered very early, I should still get them on 9/19. WTF Verizon? I can wait a few extra days but a whole month?

It's definitely not the date given to everyone, many people have 9/19 or 10/7.
I ordered iPhone 6+ 64GB Gray at 3:30 AM EST on Friday. I received confirmation email at 5:00 AM. It said deliver by 10/7.
You pick the area code and the exchange. The last four numbers are assigned when the device and the sim are attached to the order.
I ordered a Droid Maxx last summer. It took me four days after I placed the order to get the actual phone number. Once I had the number, I had a delivery date.
Contract, "add a line," and no, but I'm a 10/7 ship date, so it may or may not mean anything that I have no charge.
