Any news or rumors about rMBP 15 (2015)

I'm thinking that they might bump up the specs on WWDC 15, but is there any rumors or news about this? I can seem to find it anywhere... All the hype is about the Retina Macbook (12inch), which seems useless with that low power mobile cpu and 1 usb-c. I would rather want to wait and buy 15inch rMBP. Anyone have any news about what is happening?:(

Broadwell MBP 2015 WWDC

Skylake MBP 2016 [ Both 13 and 15inch ]

The Macbook 15 inches will come with Broadwell this WWDC :D. Reason being this gives Apple breathable time frame for later up gradation . Broadwell 15 will come this summer. Next summer both will come with Skylake and in 2017 both will be given a speed boost. This gives Intell two years for Cannonlake and they are gonna need that time - Smaller the die gets, more is the time required. If Skylake is introduced this Summer then the next substantial update won't come before 2017 ATLEAST. And looking at Intels last 2-3 years, don't expect a Cannonlake before 2018 . Too much time without an update for Apple - Not cool.

That sounds reasonable and your probably right.....but I hope your wrong :)

Longshot- WWDC=15" Skylake (fingers crossed)

So i should wait?

I'm using a old macbook pro from mid 2008. So i have for some time really wanted a new one.

As for now im travling and can get a new one rather cheap compared to the country im from.

But im just so unescure if i should wait til the new ones will be out or the rmbp 15" 2,2 hz or 2,5 hz is good for the future?

(and yes i will be using if for heavy duty mission such as logic, adobe, final cut and pro tools)

wait. Just one more month.

So i should wait?

That's the questions I'm asking myself, too.

Pro Wait:
- better performance, longer battery life

Con Wait:
- performance heap is may be not so noticeable? 10% 15%?? e. g. when encoding videos
- price will be much higher than get an used one

I'm really not sure if how much better a broadwell with GT950M (if it comes in this configuration) will be..

Nothing wrong with Radeons, speaking as someone who has used both graphics chip/card types.

I've had desktop and mobile. radeons and nvidias. Desktop Radeons have been ok, not great but ok. I had a 7970m and I've never had so many problems with a GPU before. My 6990 (desktop) was overheating so I decided to watercool it. Both 680s, 660ti and current 770 have been great for me. Ran a 640m and now running an 840m, both have been fantastic.

I'll try not to be pre-judgmental but I never have high hopes for radeon mobile chips.

Same here, still using my old 2008 Unibody MBP.

Can't wait to update to the newest MBP but, after all this time I don't want a Tic (Broadwell) when I can 'soon' have a Toc (Skylake).

At least wait to see what they announce at the WWDC in June.

I thought it was possible with the 2011 MBPs. I'm super tight on space on my 256gb SSD in an early 2011.

The optical drive bay is SATA3, however SATA3 devices do not work reliably in it. I went ahead and tested anyway, formatted the Mushkin 1TB SSD fine, then I think I copied a large file over but then got an error as soon as I tried to read it — pretty much inline with what I had read. Has something to do with shielding, and there's some nasty home-brew hack out there where a guy covered everything in foil tape and what not and got it to work, but I don't care that much. :) The 2012 does not have this problem.

I ended up just using a SATA2 750GB spinner drive for now, as that gets my iTunes Library off the main drive and frees up a ton of space for me, which is fine until I update to a new machine with the next gen probably...assuming they offer storage options higher than 1TB! If not, I'll wait til next year. Really hoping for 1.5 or 2TB options.

BTW this applies to the Early & Late 2011 15" and 17", but not the 13".

I had a couple of Radeon cards in my PC-age but the drivers were never up to par with the nVidia counterparts. I find this to be a thing even now when I'm looking for reviews on GPUs for friends...

Just give me a Broadwell/Skylake QC, 960M and 16gb ram with 256/512gb SSD for a decent price.

Same here.

Back (before I knew better) when I was a Windows/Gaming PC builder I never liked Radeon cards, Nvidia cards and their up to date drivers were always the best. That might be different now, I don't know.

Problem is lies with the "negotiated link speed". Optical bay is rated at 6 GB but it is only capable of 3 GB transfer rate. See the picture below:

Dammit! I was half expecting this but still hoping for Skylake. I already don't like the statement in that article "COULD deliver SLIGHTLY improved performances" aaaarg!

Ah well, if my aging 2008 MBP dies altogether then at least I have a 'decent' alternative to replace it. But unless I get get fed up with it, I'm still holding out for an actual 'Toc'.

The new broadwell MBP 15 will be released in june. Will have Iris 6200 Pro, and sport the new Broadwell-based Core i5-5657C/5675R and Core i7-5775C/5775R....
http://www.vcpost.com/articles/6482...h-macbook-pro-out-june-2015-broadwell-cpu.htm

Beware of these clickbait sites. They just put these popular articles out to generate traffic.

Core i5-5657C will be a 65W TDP processor while current 15" rMBP uses only 47W TDP. I'd say that is highly unlikely unless Apple wants to release a fatter laptop.
