The bad news is that unless that price is just a place-holder, it's $250 more than the current 16GB/256GB SSD rMBP right below it on the i7 page.

That's the same price as the current model with the 2.8Ghz CPU option and 16GB RAM option.

Just talked to B&H:

Support adviser: We are not sure about this yet. The buyer is looking into it to verify. But we believe that it does not have a Haswell processor since Apple has not announced anything yet.
Me: A lot of people have been looking at it, because they're eagerly awaiting the refresh.
Me: They think they're going to release new models on Tuesday (Wednesday) because it's their 'Q3 earnings report' but I doubt so, unless there's some information retailers have been receiving about these supposed models.
Support adviser: Tomorrow we should know if this actually comes with a Haswell processor.
Me: Ahh, I will come back to you then :)

I thought so, everyone says something different. I am curious what he says tomorrow.. ;)

Maybe he thought you were talking about Tuesday/Wednesday of this week, which would explain why he mentioned tomorrow as the day they'll know. Fingers crossed, though!

I think he means the guy is trying to verify if it's Haswell or not, and he'll have the information tomorrow. I'm not sure now :')

What I don't understand is; if it wasn't a new computer, why does it have a separate listing with 7-14 day lead? All the other models have a listing.

I think they have external supplies and they're preparing to stock a new build of the current rMBP, not a new one. But who knows.

maybe apple is reading in on this thread and they are purposly holding the release of the laptop in the hope some people still buy the current rmbp ;)

How can there be a new build of the current generation? None of the specs and upgrades have changed.

I am waiting for the new rMBP too and saw the link to B&H where a MBP with haswell processor is listed. http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/search?atclk=Processor+Type_Intel+Core+i7+Haswell&ci=18818&N=4110474292+4291615352+4254301290+4100277619+4100277621+4034387733

I asked them if this is a mistake (because at the moment Apple does not sell any MBP with haswell..) and they told me that it is NOT a mistake. They confirmed that this is a MBP with haswell processor. Furthermore I asked for the availabilty (on the website 7-14 days) and they said 7-14 days are the ETA that Apple has given!

I do not know if this are reliable information but I am optimistic. ;)

Awesome find, ask them tomorrow if it is a new listing! Would be good if they put up the 13" ones too!

Looks promising guys!

I really almost bought the current rMBP earlier in the month. I'm now holding off until whenever the new one is out. It's hard, but smart.

I really hope it's next Wednesday. I'm ordering that day.

----------

With the conference call on Tuesday, I think there is a chance that they'll be released next week.

Then, Mavericks will be released about a month after the updated rMBPs (late august/beginning of september) giving all the new rMBP users a free update to Mavericks.

I can't see Apple releasing new rMBPs, Mavericks, iPhone 5S, iPods and maybe iPads in September/October at once. They'll have to spread it out to get more sales. No one is going to buy both an rMBP, iPhone/iPod and iPad at the same time.

So, within 14 days, I hope to order my new Haswell rMBP (I'm optimistic in this great weather. 28c sunny this week!).

Good points. Certainly there are people who would buy all at the same time, but they need to spread things out. I myself am in the market for a Haswell rMBP and iPhone 5S.

If Apple has the new MacBook Pro ready right now, then they will definitely release it next week. They wouldn't hold off 2 months just to have them at an event.

I'm hoping for next week, it would blow me away.

What's the return policy on say I buy a current gen and Wednesday they release new ones?

I think through Apple it's 14 days. Any 3rd party sales would be at the terms and conditions of the retailer.

Don't have to buy it now could always get the old one from Amazon (new of course).

I am hoping for decent availability from third party retailers, but it might be difficult considering I was going to go for the top of the line BTO option. I do appreciate the suggestion though.

You have 14 days to return your MacBook if you live in the United States.

As an aside, I'm really feeling a lot of pressure to decide on a rMBP right now. Speculation that the next generation might not have a dedicated GPU is a bit unsettling to anyone who would plan on using it fairly often.

I went and picked up a 2.7Ghz./16GB/512Gb model today at best buy, after selling my 2011 2 months back. I really needed it to do work and figured two things:

1). If they announce it at/after the call next week, I have an extra 7 days to return it back.

2) If apple decides to wait until October, I will at least have a laptop for the next 2-3 months, I couldn't wait that much longer without it for my business.

3) If Apple throws a curveball, and witholds a dGPU model, or repeats using a 750m in the new line up, then I will already be quite settled with the 650m version I have now.

For what little gaming and 3D modeling I do for fun, the dGPU upgrade was the main reason I was waiting for the new model. We'll see where apple goes with this.
