Where and how are you getting that deal. I can only find that model for 2599$!
Dumb question, but when is earnings call? Tues July 23 5:00 PST U.S. (GMT -8)?
Today is the day or we will wait another month or two?

I'm inclined to believe that they will be having a huge event somewhere in september, releasing the mbps, the mp, the ipads and the ipods/iphone(s). ...
Besides, there are a couple of reasons why releasing the mbps in september seems reasonable:
...
-Mavericks
...
Did anyone see the Digital Storm 13 haswell notebook?
Absurd. Quadcore and Nvidia 765m in a fat package. With the thermals of Haswell, I wish for dGPU and QuadCore in a 13 Retina MBP. I feel it can be done. Perhaps not a very high clockspeed, but it should be possible. I just think the 15 is too big, and the 13 air is to weak. I want the 13 Retina to be the portable power vacuum spot.
To everyone waiting excitedly for the earnings call: As far as I know Apple hasn't ever announced updates or new products during the call. The updates that coincide with earnings calls usually happen the day after.
Wrong.
A totally new form factor iMac 21.5" and 27", alongside the introduction of the Magic Mouse and Magic Trackpad happened right after a conference call in late 2009. There was no mention in the earnings call itself, the store was down and when it came back... lo and behold, entire new iMac range as well as new accessories.
Well, I did say usuallyThat's one I had forgotten about though.
The basic idea is that Apple doesn't use the earnings call as a sort of pseudo-event for new products. Rather they don't want to release new products in the weeks right before an earnings call, so they tend to pile up for release immediately after.

Yes, they did indeed, but don't confuse external marketing efforts with marketing needs. To consumers, this thing looks pretty outdated right now, and that's even more true as other manufacturers release their Haswell models. Especially if tomorrow's call shows Mac sales numbers that are roughly in line with the projections that came out today, there's a really big problem in Mac sales. Apple can't really afford to wait.
I think that's the reason for the delay right there: they're holding back the new models until Mavericks is ready (just like the mid-2011 Mac minis and MBA were held back for Lion).
The benchmarks we've seen for the new rMBPs have all had a custom build of Mavericks. Further, it does not make sense to develop a whole new build of Mountain Lion in tandem with a custom build of Mavericks.
As such, you won't see Haswell MBPs until Mavericks is available for sale.
but isn't that the earnings call itself is not intended for consumers? so why would they use it to refresh consumer products?
That's what I'm trying to say. They don't use the earnings call itself for product announcements. They just don't want to launch new product updates in the 2-3 weeks before the earnings call (because of Quiet Period), so there is sometimes a backlog of new products that get announced afterwards.
That is not necessarily the primary reason at all. Last year the mbps had been released before ML was, and all the customers were merely entitled to a free upgrade. However it does make sense for Apple to wait given all the other parts of the equation that I have listed.
