Refurb store only has two 13" Pros left (neither are retina). Sounds like Best Buy is also clearing its stock. I'm sure this is all BTS-related, but always makes me wonder.

So it is possible for Intel to improve things.![]()
These results are certainly very interesting and paint a very different story from the February test results. The Intel Linux Sandy Bridge graphics driver is not conclusively faster than the Windows driver is, but it is getting there and at least for nearly all cases does deliver comparable performance.
While the performance may now be hitting parity, in other areas the Linux driver still lags behind. First and foremost, while the latest Linux code is now delivering this impressive performance, most Linux users won't be using this code until the end of the year when hitting the next round of updated Linux distributions. For most end-users, upgrading the open-source Linux graphics driver stack is a pain due to needing to upgrade all of Mesa, the respective X.Org driver, often libdrm, and then most problematic can be needing to upgrade the entire Linux kernel. Even with this latest code we had to manually enable semaphores with the Intel DRM driver for the system to not crash due to the last-minute 2.6.39 revert and the "out of the box" Ubuntu 11.04 experience is troubling.
The Intel Linux driver also lacks features such as Quick Sync Video, InTru 3D Technology, Intel Wireless Display, Intel Flexible Display Interface, and other technologies currently only found in their Windows driver. There are also OpenGL extensions and other functionality found within their Windows driver but not the Linux driver, such as S3TC texture compression support and other patented features that cannot be implemented in the open-source stack by default.
What do you all think of this deal I found on CL...
2013 2.7/16gb/512 mint condition, asking 1800. bought a month ago
So I've been lurking on this thread for a few months now, and I've got a question.
I'm going off to college on August 15th, and I need to get a new computer; I originally wanted to wait for a new release, but seeing as how that may not happen until October, I think that I want to get the 15 inch rMBP higher end preconfigured model this weekend, so that A) I get the $100 in apps and B) I can load all of my stuff onto my computer before school (I'm going to a pretty difficult college and I don't want to be bothered with having to set up a computer halfway through the semester).
I'm currently using a 2008 unibody, and it's holding up ok, but it's definitely not capable of handling college, so I suppose that that's pushing me towards a new computer as well.
I'm slightly nervous about getting a new computer so close to the update, as I felt regret when I got my current computer and a few months later the 7 hour battery Macbook pros came out. However, I really want the dGPU for some games and from what I've read, Iris Pro can't perform as well as the 650M in real world applications. I also figure that 7 hours, plus whatever Mavericks may shovel on, is good enough for me in terms of battery life. I don't really care about an IGZO display, and I don't think that I'd fully utilize the increased SSD performance or TB 2. Am I missing anything? Thanks!
You are way overthinking the early 2013 refresh. It was a 0.1 CPU bump and is not a refresh in the way the new Haswell rMBP will be.
This thread is slowly becoming : "I'm tired of waiting for Hawell MBP so I bought a new one mega thread"
9to5mac expects a release in October http://9to5mac.com/2013/07/26/new-haswell-macbook-pros-in-october-says-report-citing-parts-suppliers/

Depends how you define 'close'. If the update is October, that's 3 months minimum. Then there could be another minor refresh early 2014. Who knows?
If we all live on the basis of waiting for a next update, you'll constantly be waiting. This thread is months old, yet we're still no closer to seeing a definitive Haswell MBP release date!
Three months minimum? I sure hope that if it's October and not September then it's not the very end of OctoberEvery day we get closer to the actual release date if you figure it's going to happen before November.
Guys do you really think they are going to use the iris pro 5200 instead of a gpu like de 750m?
I've just thought about it and it makes no sense, the iris pro is almost as expensive as the 750m,selling refreshed high end laptops with less power than the previous gen its lame, that wouldnt be a pro,at least for me![]()

Apple seems to be clearing out inventory of its current MacBook Pros including a significant Best Buy $200 off sale which also includes $100 off for people with an .EDU email, yielding a $1199.99 Retina Pro starting price.
I think it really depends on what Apple does with the next iPhone(s). If the iPhone comes out in September like last year, it could be late October before they decide to hold another event. Last year's October Mac event was on the 23rd a long wait
Until we get closer though, I'll try to continue living under the hope that Mavericks will come before iOS. At least if the rMBP releases with 10.9 we'll get some advance notice with the GM build, and most likely the up-to-date program - no last minute disappointments like WWDC/earnings call.
Almost exactly the same logic for me. I have a late '08 unibody 15" MBP 2.4GHz C2D. Even with 8GB RAM, it is starting to show its age. After considering all the current vs. Haswell info I could gather, I concluded I would not use/see the small performance enhancements it sounds like Haswell will bring to the table, and the Haswell isn't likely to come out for a while yet. So I went to one of the local Apple stores and picked up an early '13 15" rMBP 2.7GHz i7, 16GB, 512GB SSD.So I've been lurking on this thread for a few months now, and I've got a question.
