Boy, with (we presume) new Macbook pros, iPhones, iPods, iPads, and Mac Pros, this will already be a great fall. The question is, does all this encompass what Cook meant by "game-changers", or are we in store for "one more thing" or two?

I'm only getting the new rMBP, but I'm sure excited about everything else.

Hopefully the "one more thing" will be a multi-product discount! :D

they mentioned iWork would be updated by the end of the year during the keynote. I know that isn't the huge thing you are hoping for, but it is something. I'm also hoping for some bigger surprise before the end of the year.

Man I wonder if a Sept release would give enough time for a maxed out refurbed Haswell to show up by Christmas?

My guess is that Apple will release the refurbished Haswell MBPs only in January, after the peak demand of the holiday buying season is over.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking too, because the Spring 2014 models would probably be ramping up anyway.

Interesting - is anyone familiar with Apple Insider's record with (repeating) rumors/news?

They have been pretty good. They did say that "Taiwanese manufacturers have begun to ship components for new MacBook Pros based on Intel's fourth-generation Haswell processors to assembly plants" while MacRumors said this would take place later this month, so a minor inconsistency. Guess we will have to wait and see...

Hopefully the Sept 10 announcement will be cool enough without any MBP announcement..

Well, I was already looking forward to it so I can purchase my first iPhone. Although my excitement level for that is nowhere near how anxious I am for the rMBP to be refreshed.

But I can't complain about having two things to possibly look forward to.

True that. Definitely makes Sept 10 a little more exciting, either way. :)

Suppose that Apple does announce the new rMBP at the September 10 event. How much of a delay would there be before the new machines are available in stores for purchase?

It's always right away. Well, you can order right away. It's usually the next day or 2 when it's in Apple stores.

But yeah, going to be an expensive September. Only thing I hate about Apple releasing all their new products at the same time now.

If Intel and Apple manage to supercharge the Iris Pro so that it at least matches the GT650m in last years rMBP, then I'll be happy with the iGPU solution. If however, they use the standard Iris Pro that has already been benchmarked - I want a dGPU. There should be NO regression in performance in a newer computer. Whether the regression in performance be in benchmarks, games or day-to-day to use is irrelevant.

A newer computer should be a faster computer - across the board (and if that isn't possible, it should at least match the previous generation).

Tell that to the 2011 13" MBP and 2011 Macbook Air, both of which went from Nvidia GT320M graphics to slower Intel HD 3000 graphics.
